Shell Rockwood's family has her life all planned out, but she's got a secret to help her break free and jump into the driver's seat.
Jax Forrester has a lot to live up to as an officer climbing the ranks, determined to play by the rules and get out from under his father's shadow.
In order to expose a crime-ring and get a break in the case, Jax goes undercover as Shell's new boyfriend to gain access to the high-end garage on her family's resort winery.
Shell risks having her secret exposed as she's forced to play nice and bring Jax into her world of mechanics and luxury cars. Can they work together to catch the criminals or will their pretend romance send both of them careening off course?
Growing up in Ontario, Canada, MJ was the only child of a single mom. MJ’s passion for the arts ignited at a young age as she wrote adventure stories and read them aloud to close family and friends. The dramatic arts became a focus in high school as an aid to understanding character motivation in her writing. Majoring in Theatre Production at University, with a minor in English, she went on to teach both elementary and high school for 10 years throughout Simcoe County.
MJ currently lives with her husband and son in Ontario, Canada. She keeps busy these days writing, helping Indie Authors, and talking about books as a local librarian. She firmly believes that if she hadn’t been born a Virgo, she would not be half as organized as necessary to accomplish everything in her daily agenda.
I enjoyed this novella. The characters are great, have excellent conflict and chemistry, and the setup is fun. (I actually read it twice, because it was a lovely, needed distraction - and the second time was equally entertaining.)
Basic Details: Book Title: Redline Drift Subtitle: A Flawed Attraction Romance Author: M.J. Moores Genre: Crime/Adventure Part of a series? No Order in series: Best read after earlier books in series? Available: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... Overall score: I scored this book 5/5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Short Summary of the book: Shell Rockwood knows what she wants. But, she is the heiress of her parents and grandfather who all have planned out her future in business for her. When the police calls in her grandfather’s help to expose a crime-ring, she is forced to pose as the girlfriend of police officer Jax, who has something to prove himself. What I liked about the book: I enjoyed this book. There was lots of action with a headstrong girl and a police officer not wanting to break the rules. The tension between both was palpable throughout the book. What I didn’t like about the book: I loved the entire book. My favourite bits in the book: Where Shell is able to steer things in the right direction. My least favourite bits in the book: None of those in this book. Any further books in the series? Any more planned by this author? The author has written other books but this is the first I have read. What books could this be compared to and why? This is reminiscent of other books where the entitled girl is not all she appears to be. Recommendation: In summary, I would recommend this book for the following readers:
Children No Young Adult Possibly Adult Yes
If you like crime novels and romance, this book may be the book for you. Book Description by Author: Cops and Robbers Isn’t Just for Kids

About the Author: Growing up in Ontario, Canada, MJ was the only child of a single mom. The dramatic arts became a focus in high school as an aid to understanding character motivation in her writing. MJ currently lives with her husband and young son in Caledon, Ontario. She keeps busy these days with her emerging authors’ website Infinite Pathways: hosting writing contests, providing editing services, free publicity tips, book reviews, and opportunities for authors to build their writing platform and portfolio. In addition she writes articles, works freelance writing and editing, and is preparing to launch her first science fiction novel The Chronicles of Xannia: Time’s Tempest on October 1st, 2014. She firmly believes that if she hadn’t been born a Virgo, she would not be half as organized as necessary to accomplish everything in her daily agenda.
Wild antics of a spoiled rich girl rebelling against her family's expectations disrupts a young policeman's life. Shell has reluctantly agreed to help Jax investigate an illegal operation on her grandfather's resort by pretending to date him. He is caught up in her whirlwind as she races from place to place taking risks and daring Jax to keep up. She expects him to keep secrets from her family, yet she does not treat him with kindness. Her feelings run hot and cold confusing Jax and the reader as to her real feelings. Is she acting, or is she really a selfish rich girl? The criminal mystery is solved without much suspense, and the novel seems to end abruptly. Shell's and Jax's family relationships and their personal relationship seem unresolved at the end. Does their story continue in another book? This novel seems unfinished, like it should be continued. I would be willing to give Shell another chance to redeem herself in a second book, and I would like to get to know Jax better. Word choice errors were a little distracting: champaign for champagne, quite for quiet, swop for swap. If you like cars and racing, you may enjoy Shell's racing antics and love for cars. I did like how the idea of the redline was used within the story. Thanks to the author for a complimentary copy of this title.
