BLOOD, LUST, AND GREED SEEMED TO LAY IN WAIT FOR THE UNSUSPECTING TRAVELERS. What started as a visit to the families of the women turned into a fight with renegade Apsáalooke warriors. But that was just the beginning of the battles…
After a friendly encounter with the Yapudttka Ute, their journey would take them into the middle of a fight between the Mouache Ute and an expedition of gold hungry Spaniards. The prospectors traveled across the southern tier of the land known as New Spain in search of the Seven Cities of Cibola – the same cities of gold once sought by Coronado – now thought to be in the headwaters of a river in the Sawatch mountains of the Rockies.
When the leader of the Spaniards tries to enslave the band of Utes to dig for gold, it starts a bloody battle. But when Gabe and company learn about captives and the treatment of them as slaves that does not sit well with Ezra who will fight any form of slavery wherever it is found.
Blood will fill the sluice boxes and rivers of the Sawatch Range before this conflict is over!

Summer roars into an explosive adventure, including new friends!
Winter had been a bitter one for the boys this year. Gabe and Ezra were ready to get out to enjoy the sunshine and explore a new area for them. Both wives understood the need that drove their men and had learned to enjoy it themselves. The four passed on this enjoyment to their children which now numbered four.
The group figured to start by visiting the families of both women, unknowingly this would eventually take them into the middle of a battle between the Mouache Ute and a group of gold-hungry Spaniards. These men were searching for the Seven Cities of Cibola. When they reached the area that they were looking for, they planned on prospecting and panning for the gold. Which was believed to be in the headwaters of a river in the Sawatch mountains of the Rockies. Of course, they would need laborers, unknown to the other men, the leader planned to abduct the local Indians to do the hard labor.
And the story begins…
What did I like? I have enjoyed all the books in this series, and for that matter every book of Bob’s that I have read, I still have a few more to catch up on. But, I most especially liked this one. It takes us on a journey and teaches us a certainly needed lesson. You don’t have to know someone to lend a helping hand. You may not know all the answers but you are there and willing to work with everyone to find the solution. Today’s problems, be them the political outlook, or the pandemic, needs this lesson. You are not the only person in this world, so don’t force yourself or your outlook on others but work with them in finding the answers. Moreover, give the other guy the space to do as he needs to do for himself. This whole book shows what should be done and even gives you the values that you should be applying. Great job Bob, I hope that many will read this book, and take the lesson included at face value then apply it to each of their own worlds.
What will you like? There are so many things that you will like, the action, the characters (well, some of them), the descriptions, the peace that you will feel as you experience the world around the characters, the lesson of living, and most importantly the one that you can apply in your own world. Bob has been there and seen the beauty of most of the areas described in his books, you can read and experience that same peace, serenity, and beauty of the world that the characters travel in. I have always closed my eyes and can see what he is saying. Of course, I have been there in many of the places myself so for me, it’s not that hard, but Bob will open your mind and show you what the creator gave us to live in. This is an exciting book that will capture your heart, and give you peace. At least it did for me!
Great characters, beautiful descriptions of the landscape and native people. Always interesting story lines and it is refreshing to have the stories delivered without superfluous swearing and descriptive sexual situations. Love all BN Rundell's series! Highly recommend
Another great book by B. N. Rundell as always a page turner. When reading one of these books you can picture the scene in your mind. He describes the scene so well you feel like you are right there with the people in the book. I look forward to the next book in the series. Thank you B. N. Rundelll for another awesome read.
Like the previous books, Gabe and company find injustice, greed, new friends, and see new country. A wonderful series. I like knowing more about the children. Also, including the plan of salvation, without over preaching.
I enjoyed reading this story and recommend it to all who like to read adventure stories. B.N. Rundell is a great author and I have read many of his books and always enjoyed them.
As in the other books in this series. Stonecroft Saga Book 13 continues with the adventures of the friends once again looking to explore new lands. Mr. Russell keeps the plot simple but interesting.
I loved this tale and the Author. He is a good Writer and always includes the most important things, like the wonderful Son and Eternal life in the right place. Heaven!
All you have to do is read my comments on all the other Stonecroft books and it tells the story of how I feel about this series. Lol. Seriously they are all fantastic.
Gabe, Ezra and families head south exploring new territory. While a group of Spanish soldiers led by a cruel Capitan head toward them looking for gold. Conflict galore when they cross paths.
I finished reading all 15 books in this series with a lengthy description of how I felt from Book 1 to Book 15. I would rate this series as one of the best that gives you an idea of how it was for young explores venturing into the vast wilderness of the Canadian and American plains and mountains. It is excitement at its best, terrifying at it's worst and darn right pleasurable to be immersed in such detail as a deer print, a bent blade of grass, the heart stopping encounter with a 9 foot grizzly or surrounded by Indians on a hunting spree who have never seen a white or black man before. All I ask is just start off by reading the first book by this knowledgeable writer, B.N. Rundell. You won't be sorry.
His favorite weapon the Mongol Bow was never even mentioned in this book? Not as much action at all. This was not one of my favorite stories. The religion is starting to be to much a part of the story. While I can understand a small part is ok. But it seems to becoming to much of the story. More action less bible please.
