Ancient Indian architects are so beautiful and so amazingly build that we can't get enough to praise those architectures who built them even without having the actual degree of this field.

I can't tell you how beautiful this book is. I think it's a pure gem for our generation who lacks the real knowledge of Indian Culture, religion, and its value. The book will make you travel virtually along with telling you the history of the monuments and the values behind them.
The world created by the author is fictional as it is precisely detailed. The writing style of the author is so vivid that one can visualize every word of the novel. And it's quite surprising to see how author the perfectly blended some facts with his fictional work.

The book belongs to mythology- fiction, historical fiction genre and that is my favourite genre. So I had to pick it up. The blurb seems too interesting that I couldn’t resist picking it up. I will briefly summarise it. It’s a first book in the Konark Secret duology. The protagonist of the story is Bishnu Maharana. He is the chief architect of the Konark Temple. The book includes his journey. How he became a master architect and the secrets he unravels while construction of shrine have been included in the book. The book is setup in 1200 CE era and author has paid minute attention to include little details in those era that’s the first thing I noticed. The second thing is focus on architecture. The author has paid keen attention to that. Like that shows author has done good research before writing down this book. The author has given little bit local tinge to the language and that gives the story ethnic touch. I liked that. The story moves at a faster pace. I liked that. The narration style of the author is crisp and captivating. It was like watching a movie. I remember enjoyed reading it. And I am really eager to read next part. Overall good one. Recommended from my side.

'Lotus Land' by Bhuban Patra is the first book in the The konark Secret Duology's series. It is from the mythological fiction genre. The story revolves around the main protagonist Bishnu Maharana,an architect and the construction of Konark temple in 1200 C. E Odhisa. The book also talks about his childhood ,education, struggles and life journey of becoming an architect. The author has given us the minute details of the temple and revealed it's hidden facts and secrets of the technology used in the construction.
The cover of the book is simple and the title is totally relevant to the content. The plot of the story is interesting, engaging and unique. It is a perfect blend of mythology, history ,thrill and reality. Narration done is superb. Language used is easy to understand. Characters are well developed and described by the author. The flow of the book is well paced which makes it an engaging read. Hats off to the author for his research work. Awaiitng it's sequel.
Overall, an informative and thrilling read.
I recommend this book to all specially who love reading historical fictions.

India is a country that has always been famous for its rich architecture and grandeur buildings. I have always been fascinated by our mythology, so when I came across ‘‘Lotus Land’’, I couldn't begin reading it fast enough.
What was mentioned in the description, the book delivers and I was in awe of the little details that the author went through, explaining our rich history and all the mythological tales behind each temples.
So basically, the story revolves around Bishnu, who is an architect by profession and his journey. He is a hard worker who believes in himself and the reason why he stood out was because he didn't just go with the flow, but rather did those things, which might seemed impossible at beginning, but his determination made them possible, in turn proving him right and making him a true inspiration to all.
What I liked the most about this book was that it gave us a total involving happenings of each and every place and was not just a travel guide/pickup book.
Today, we have most modern technology and machinery available for us, yet we see that the buildings and structures that have been built in the ancient times have no competition, whatsoever. This book did make me ponder on how those people would have done such an amazing work with so limited /few resources. Nonetheless, they are a blessing that our country is so rich in heritage.
Though Lotus Land is set in a whole different era, the teachings that Bishnu learns, the experiences that he goes through and some knowledge that he shares are absolutely going to be a valuable lesson for this generation.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone who love learning about mythology or have an interest in the ancient historical arts. I am going to give this book FIVE LOTUS STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It is a story about Bishnu. Bishnu is a sculpturer, who build the temples. He wants to become a successful architecture. His father was also the sculpturer, and he told Bishnu many interesting stories about mythology. His father told him how every temple is important, what the story behind building that temple, and every relative thing.
Bishnu is living in the Ekamra village which belongs to Kalinga. There, one day he found a girl, on a boat whose name is Sura Sundari. She is very beautiful, and after he listens to her song and voice, he falls in love with that girl.
When he proposes to that girl, she told him, that her destiny is to become a Mahari.

Looking at the cover page suddenly I thought it was a poem book. But it's discussed historical issues and architectural things. This read is not a cup of tea for me. Then I glanced at the cover page keenly. I got some attraction on the designs in the lotus and the statute like shade centre of it. After the middle of the read, you can coordinate this cover page with the blurb of the novel. Gradually I have read it fast after the middle of the book.
This novel encounters the Konark Temple. The Architecture of the 1200 AD era and present has captured in this novel. What are the procedures has followed to contract the Konark Temple?
What is the dark mystery and secret of the temple? has narrated through the character of Bishnu Maharana. Character narration gives strength to the plot.

With the proceeding story line he talks about the Kalinga dynasty's ruling, history, culture architectures. He also unveils the secrets behind the building of temples & their stories.
I like the way how author has beautifully presents the calmness and glamour of the famous temples with his stories.
It was an engrossing read with so many factful information about the history of architecture and temples of India.
It will be worth waiting for its next book.

We like travelling to new places and to get different experience from different places. But we love to travel when we actually explore that place.
This book unreveals some hidden facts and secrets about that temple. The king who made this temple was Narashimadeva and the chief architect who structured it is Bishnu Maharana.
The narration seems to be done by Bishnu Maharana himself but, portrayed through traveller Bhuban Patra.
I remember when I visited this temple in my holidays and never knew one day I'll read a book on this temple and artifacts exploring it as new beginning.

Pros: Lot of unknown information, good detailing and plotting
Cons: Slow pace in the storyline
This book is a well-researched story showing India's culture and heritage. More than a mythological book, I felt it like a book on the historical heritage of India highlighting the architectural wealth of our country.
Set in the period of 1200 CE, the storyline is about Bishnu Maharana, his life, his journey to be an architect of the Konark temple, and being called the Vishwakarma. The backstory of the construction of the Konark Temple is well presented in words. While reading this book, I was so much involved in the content that I've traveled to Odisha to visit the Lingaraj Temple and Konark Temple to have a greater experience of the words. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a satisfactory experience due to COVID19 Regulations in the temple premises.
The storyline reveals some untold secrets around the construction of the Konark temple. It's an appreciable attempt to pack all the historical and mythological details of monuments with a well-researched explanation of the architecture.
All the best for the upcoming sequel of this book. I'm waiting to read it.

I love to read mythological stories of India a lot. Because something different always lies in them.
This is the first book in Konark Secret Duology. It is a tale about Bishnu and he is the chief architect of the famous Konark Temple. The book maps the journey of him becoming the chief architect. Apart from the usual techniques to build temples they have introduced some new and secret ingredients which has resulted the temple being a magnificent one.
I feel if some grammar corrections and vocabulary are checked properly it would be a great book.

My 2 Cents:💢
The language is simple and lucid. The book cover attracted me the most before picking it up. The author tries his best to create a fictional story around the temple and its making. The book is divided into small chapters, so it is easy to read the story. The book kick starts very well but little bit losing its charm and slow moving in the middle. I can see little bit of errors here and there. Really we should appreciate the author to take up this unique story. His writing style is impressive for a debut author. Unique story with a blend of Mythology and history. A must read for all the mythology and history lovers. I would like to give a rating of 4/5.

My 2 Cents:💢
The language is simple and lucid. The book cover attracted me the most before picking it up. The author tries his best to create a fictional story around the temple and its making. The book is divided into small chapters, so it is easy to read the story. The book kick starts very well but little bit losing its charm and slow moving in the middle. I can see little bit of errors here and there. Really we should appreciate the author to take up this unique story. His writing style is impressive for a debut author. Unique story with a blend of Mythology and history. A must read for all the mythology and history lovers. I would like to give a rating of 4/5.

The book surrounds the Konark Temple - it's construction, architecture & hidden secrets. The protagonist, Bishnu Maharana, is the architect of the temple & the story is centred around him. The book is an ok-ok read owing to the grammatical errors but the book in overall with its different plot has the reader hooked. The author keeps you guessing as to what the protagonist might do next. This book was obviously well researched. The cover is gorgeous. And this is just book 1, I am eagerly waiting for the drop of the next book!

Social history is likely one of the most extravagant and different parts of the world. There are such countless viewpoints to it that one can go through his whole time on earth exploring it. Indian history and folklore is likewise a wellspring of fiction, a kind of grub for the essayists. From Krishna to Shiva or from Ashoka to Chanakya, there is undoubtedly an anecdotal side project on it. Truly, there are one such a large number of now. Lotus Land" by Bhuban Patra is the primary book of the Konark Secret Duology. As you probably speculated from the title, the book depends on the insider facts of Konark Temple. The engineer of the sanctuary, Bishnu Maharana, is a man of insider facts. The principal book depends on his life and how the anticipating the Konark Temple became. As we dive further into the story, we figure out how Bishnu turns into a draftsman and the insider facts he disentangles during the development of the hallowed place. The book was a hit and miss for me. While I preferred the reason, the account was not enamoring enough. I was continually diverted by inadequately built sentences and the mistakes (accentuation and linguistic) that were mixed all through the book. As I would like to think, a novel, particularly authentic fiction, should have a solid portrayal, else, it starts to feel dreary and emits a genuine energy. This book started to give indications of a life account, a couple of parts in. Not that I don't adore a decent personal history, but rather I had anticipated a seriously exciting story. (Demonstrates that perusers should dispose of their assumptions prior to beginning a book) I am certain the story will work for some perusers, however I wasn't fascinated by it. Ideally, the subsequent book gets the job done. I would suggest the book for perusers of verifiable fiction and the individuals who might want to find out about Indian culture.

It feels really sad to know that our history books are filled with the glorification of moron Mughals who did nothing more than creating religious rifts, mass execution when we have such a glorious past in the form of Bishnu ji Maharana who was a prodigy and the chief architect of the very popular and beautiful Konark Temple.
The book is flawless in almost all aspects. With the impeccable narration and spectacular use of the language, it proves to be one of those rare tales in the recent times that ticks all boxes. There are very few stories that talk about our Hinduism values in the true sense and it is certainly one of them.
Besides, being a visual masterclass and an architectural beauty, it also offers some highly valuable moral and ethical learning which will remain etched in my memory for a long time. The way Bishnu ji so intelligently carve the temple and didn't adopt tried and tested methods of creation is really interesting and thrilling to know. I truly loved the journey through it. Though it is book 1, the end made me wanting more.

Mythology and history with a pinch of fiction is trending amongst the writers and gaining interest of readers as well.
Lotus Land by Bhuban Patra is one of a kind. Basically this book is part 1 of the konark duology. It features/highlights the early life of the maker of konark temple i.e. Bishnu Maharana. How he cameup with the idea of making a great architectural building like konark temple. What are the hidden secrets behind its formation / it was constructed to hide the secrets. Obviously the whole story is not revealed by the author as this just book 1. Author leave readers on cliffhanger until the other part is released.
Narratives are strong and keeps the reader busy throughout. The storyline moves at a good pace.

How to tell you the book was, without even telling you anything about the book?
(because I genuinely would love to see you buying this book and the other reason being 'not killing the suspense', even I can not myself interpret the whole narrative till yet, as it is a former part of a duology)
This book is a historical work, enough real and enough beautiful and enough tragic to give you real historical movie vibe, apart from making you aware about the relevance of Konark Temple and also the reason why it is one of the best temples we have ever seen in its exemplary beauty with its craftsmanship.
And the thing that inspired me in turning the pages of this book was that, what made Bishnu Maharana, the architect behind Sun Temple of Konark to keep going even after life had been unfair towards him, what actually made this built such an exponential work of art, rather a major work of art. There are times that we usually give up, had I been in his place; but what actually kept him going?
1) Faith 2) Devotion 3) Righteousness
It is not always words that make a story, some lines that tend to steal hearts make emotional connect with the reader on a way deeper level than words can ever reach, so I want you to read this one -
¨I felt that even if you were not together physically, you could be an exemplar of love and solidarity.¨ And these lines made me fall in the stories that are woven intricately to bestow human passion and surrendering of oneself for the motherland, equally for the lover.
This book is a prequel, and I am looking forward for its other coparceners to release soon and thrill us all by the historical relevance and the mythological aspect of the temples of Odisha and its charm.

The Lotus Land is the first book among the series- The Secrets of Padma Kshetras. It is very interesting. The author had dealt with Indian culture, various art forms, religion and the value of art in human life. The book teaches us the need to preserve the ancient things. As it is set in the 12thC, we can understand the cultural practices, morals and values of that century.
Most part of the book covers the architectural amusements of the beautiful temples like the Konark Temple, the Sun temple and the lotus Land. The pace of the story is moving good. The language is simple. The book gives us numerous facts as well as beautiful stories. The book praises almost all the art forms.
The book also taught me about several celebrations which I never heard of. It was like visualising the places. I had a great time by reading this book

This mythological book tells the story behind the building of the glorious temple of Odisha, The Konark Temple.
Since I saw this book I wanted to read it because my mother's native place is in Odisha and I have heard lots of stories about that temple, like why it's not worshiped, why it's called Black Pagoda, what mystery is behind its construction?
Built-in the 13th century, the Konark temple is a classic example of Kalinga-style architecture. The author has told the story by way of its architect Bishnu Maharana who makes us understand the diverse cultural heritage, religious practices, traditions, natural beauty of Kalinga, and the value the art has in their lives.
In Konark's secret duology this is the first book divulging the hidden mysteries in the past of the construction of the masterpiece. How the idea was born? What techniques were used? Why these are still mysteries in the 21st century?
Its writing style was gripping and engrossing but few grammatical errors and improper phrases were the downpours of the book.
Yet I enjoyed reading it and would like to know more about it in its second part.
If you are a historical freak and ínterested in knowing histories of our ancient heritage this book is a nice one time read.

The book is about the architect Bishnu Maharana, who is the chief architect of the Konark Temple. The story tells us about his journey,from how he started, how he built the temple, the challenge he undergoes, his technique and all about his learnings, the book has described everything about it so well and amazingly.
The book widely n wisely covers the beautiful architecture of Odisha which includes, Kalinga, the Sun Temple, Ekarma, Lotus Land, and many more structures and places, with detail history behind all these beauties and places.

When I read the blurb of this book I was really intrigued as it takes us through the journey of building of the Konark Temple. This is the first book of a duology so not a lot of things happen in this one. It was more like an introductory book. The writing style is simple but I wish the narrative was a little better. Books revolving around history should have a powerful narrative. There were a few grammatical mistakes here and there but I'm sure a little editing will fix it. In spite of it's flaws this is a good one time read and I'm really looking forward to reading the second book.

Blend Of History And Mythology
The book is a combination of different genres that start with suspense while rolling towards travelogue keeping its roots to mythology.What's come in our mind when we here the word "INDIA"? A country with the diversity of religion, customs and rituals too.Konark temple, a well known monument situated in the state of odisha, the plot of the book is based on it and it's making. The protagonist of the story is Bishnu Maharana. He is the chief architect of the Konark Temple.The storyline reveals some untold secrets around the construction of the Konark temple..It seems that Bishnu Maharana himself wrote his autobiography, but the book is written by a travel blogger, Bhuban Patra.The story starts with his early days describing how he lost his mother and father. He also talks about the Kalinga dynastys ruling history, culture, architecture. It's interesting to know the historical culture of our country India. The narration was good and the language used is simple and easily understandable.

This book is the primary book of the konark secret duology. The book is about the inside facts and secrets of konark temple. The architect of the temple ( Bishnu Maharana ) is a man of secrets. The book unravels some hidden secrets and the technique of building the temple.
As I love mythology and history the book is so interesting for me. The language used by the author is lucid and easily understandable. If you love reading mythological books then definitely try this.
I loved the concept of this book, it is interesting, unique and knowledgeable as well. The author has researched well before writing the book and I appreciate his work. The book is a combination of mystery, facts and secrets, it was a perfect read. It is about his upbringing and how the Konark Temple began to be planned. We learn how Bishnu became an architect and the mysteries he uncovers throughout the temple complex as the tale progresses.
The tale focuses on the main character, Bishnu Maharana, who is a temple architect. It's also credited to the Eastern Ganga dynasty's ruler Narasimhadeva I. The story describes the temple's dark and secretive mysteries, but also the procedures used to construct it. He follows the story of his voyage, as well as positive aspects of the Kalinga state, such as its varied values and tradition. He wrote extensively about this accomplishment, including his path and all of the best practices.

The first book of the Konark Secret Duology is the story of Bishnu Maharana- the chief architect of Konark temple and the city where the marvelous construction was made.
This book is extremely well researched and the author does a great job in integrating the facts in without taking away the pleasure of reading.
Bishnu Maharana, the protagonist of the book goes through the journey of life learning about life, it's meaning and about the wonderful place where he was born in. The mysteries Bishnu unravels keeps the readers on their toes and gives a fascinating experience to the reader.
What stuck out to me the most was the hardwork and research the author has put into the book. This is a much recommended book for all the history geeks and travel enthusiasts.
A must read for everyone who wants to learn about the mysteries and wonderful history behind one of the most marvelous constructions in our country!
