Unwrapping Your Love

Rate this book
Presley Bowman’s moment of reckoning has left her speechless. The life she has come to love and bask in has all been a lie and now she’s forced to pick up the pieces and start over. Not to be defeated, she accepts the government assistance she needs to take care of herself and her five-year-old son. Life is hard, but she’s trying to be optimistic, knowing that things have to get better. Learning who she is and making changes within has been her focus even though her confidence is starting to dwindle. She’s stuck in a job that she hates and is working as much overtime as possible to afford to give her baby a great Christmas. But it consumes her energy, leaving nothing to share with her greatest joy. As fate would have it, she meets Santa at her son’s school and soon learns that he has a gift to share with her as well.

Being a single parent has come natural to Josiah Lavan. He’s his son’s everything and that’s just fine for him. Dealing with his baby mama is a headache most days and he wouldn’t be angry if he never heard from her again. His career as the athletic director at a high school is the position he’s longed for and he plans to do everything in his power to keep it. Volunteering as a little league coach is his greatest joy, because he enjoys being a role model to young boys and helping parents with their guidance. He had everything he desired except love. But that fateful meeting at his son’s school proves that he would soon have the very thing he craved.

Instant attraction between Josiah and Presley evokes different reactions. While Josiah is ready, Presley is fighting it. Can Josiah convince her that she’s ready for love again or will Presley continue to push Josiah out of her life just as quickly as he came in?

Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I didn’t even care that certain parts of the story were unrealistic as hell. I ate it all up. I could however have done without a lot of the the exe’s dramas but it was what it was *sigh*

The One God Had For Me

Baby, listen.....JOSIAH!!!!!!!! Whew, chiiile....im fanning myself right now! That man was EVERYTHING....you hear me! Mac is a straight up bleep, bleep, bleep! 😒 I couldn't stand his ungrateful self. Ma-Mee, on the other hand, I want to meet her in person. Because I related so much by growing up in church all my life, I know protocol. What I wouldn't give to be in her presence. You could just feel God leap from the pages. I was so in my feelings and emotions were at an all time high. Mama was a whole mess. I saw myself in her lol! I loved her. I loved them. I loved this darn book, Mrs. Walters!!!!!!! Heck, somebody's daddy, son, brother, uncle, cousin need to come unwrap me and this gift I have to give. I'll proudly need your stepmama, your sister-in-love, your auntie or your cousin! 🤣

This book was a cute and relatable Christmas story. I love that Josiah and Presley were parents trying to navigating co-parenting with other people and loving eachother. Overall a solid read.

I did not enjoy Unwrapping Your Love as much as I thought I would. I thought the storyline was just okay. One minute, I'd find myself enjoying it and the next minute I was bored. Some of the storyline was a little unrealistic. Like that conversation Josiah and Lindsey were having in the car when she called to update him on her missing kids. That is not a conversation Josiah would've had in front of Presley and Oakley. The tone and subject matter of that conversation was inappropriate and not something you would hold in the presence of your kid and your current girlfriend. It just made no sense. I tend to like my books with a healthy dose of realism and it was definitely missing here. The sex scenes were too over the top. Again, it was like reading bad porn. Monica Walters is another author who tends to write dialogue like people speak. She, too, leaves key words out when the characters are speaking. That does no translate well into books. I've said it once and I'll say it again, this makes for a very Ebonics style of writing and that's not cute. It just makes it seem like the author never paid attention in any English class she may have taken. I've heard a lot of wonderful things about Monica Walters so, I expected to be wowed by this book. I was not. Unwrapping Your Love was my first book by Monica Walters. It was lackluster at best and the writing was not up to par. Because most of the reviews on her books were 5-star, I blindly bought a lot of them without actually reading them. Going forward, I won't buy anymore books from Monica Walters. I'm going to read the ones I've already bought and make an informed decision from there.

Whew chile💥💥🔥🔥🔥💨💨💨💦💦

This book had it all!!!!!! It was hilarous, spiritual and so dang sexy!!!!! I could have killed Mac👎👎. Trifling😡😡. Josiah was definitely bae. He was the epitome of a real man. Presley almost got on my nerves but she had every right to be skittish. I am so glad they got it together. I totally agree that when you are older and more mature, it doesn't take long to know what you want. Ms. Monica is an amazing writer📝and I ALWAYS look forward to seeing what she will come up with next. Another great story 🙌👌👏🙌👌😁😍

Unwrapping Your Love: The Gift

The chemistry between Presley and Josiah was so evident at their first encounter. When you know, you know. With the prophesy from Josiah's Grandma, it further solidified what he knew to be true.
This was a powerful testament of finding your soulmate after all you've been through. I love this story. How their boys, Cannon and Oakley spoke some things in existence was so on point. A beautiful story of second chances.
I absolutely loved the playlist that came with this release. I look forward to more of Ms. Walter's work.

The Gift That Keeps on Giving

Yesssss! Presley and Josiah were made for each other. Their chance meeting blossomed into a great romance.
Mac had done Presley dirty. She took what he’d done and grew stronger as a result of it. She almost missed out on the man that was made for her, because of past hurt.
God’s hand was throughout their story from the stranger praying for Presley to his grandmother prophecies.
This read was had a little ratchet,a lot of love, steamy sex,and a happy ending.

Holiday cheer

I’m normally not big on holiday themed stories, but I’ll read anything this author writes. I was definitely impressed with this storyline. I’m a sucker for single parent themes. This story started with a bang and just progressively got better. Presley’s struggle in the beginning made her finding Josiah that much better. I’m glad she gave him a chance and didn’t let her hurt make her angry and bitter. Josiah was definitely the one meant for her. Great story!

Amazing

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this read. The characters were mature and relatable and that JOSIAH ... whew chile. This book has succeeded in being the first book to EVER make me shed a tear. Josiah’s grandmother calling to speak with Presley really felt like she was speaking to me. Saying words I truly needed to hear. I didn’t even know I needed it but I ended this book feeling a lot better than I did when I started..... now I have to stalk this author’s entire catalog 😂

First, let me say Mac and Lana got on my nerves. Tired of folks being in the wrong but they want to cry and be forgiven. That came trifling Lindsey uugghhhh.
And way I love the love between Josiah and Presley. The boys claiming brothers was also too cute. Ma mee was everything, it’s great to have the people who really believe God is is using you.

Amazing Read

Josiah and Presley's chemistry was undeniably strong from the first time they met. Presley deserved that kind of love after the way Mac shattered her heart, yet he expected her to want him back. To have a love so beautiful that small kids pick up on it is incredible. This was another outstanding book of yours, Monica! Keep up the amazing work!

Gift of healing

I enjoyed this story from beginning to end. Josiah and Presley both are single parents who happened to meet one another through their kids and sparks flies instantly. Presley having a hard time getting by in life but never letting her son see her struggle, finally let’s Josiah treat her how she’s been yearning for. I definitely recommend

The perfect pre-Christmas love story🔥🔥🔥!!!

Yaaasss Queen Monica baby😜🙌🏽💞!!! Ain't nothing like unwrapping the perfect gift for Christmas 🤗. As always the Queen gave us another amazing insta love and right in time for Christmas.

Monica came out the gate swinging with Presley baby! I felt that slap and her heartbreak😭. Mac was a lying trifling sob and he got what he deserved. Presley did what we women do everyday, dust herself of and did what she had to do for her and her son. Her story hit home, had me all in my feelings. I loved the spiritual journey she took cause her faith was definitely tested but she held strong.

Josiah, Josiah, Josiah outside of the physical, the sexiest thing about a man is his relationship with God, his child/children and his mom/granny. God put him and Presley in each others lives when they both needed. The way he loved on Presley and Cannon, the love he had for his son💞, his family💞. When they finally had sex bay-be, Lord have mercy😜! His grandmother was amazing, when the elders get to speaking, especially when they giving you God's word is the best ever.

Lindsey tried it, the ghetto, I felt bad for her but then she tried my girl Presley😠.

The perfect love story, this book definitely had a message and I appreciated it. Sometimes it's just best to WAIT ON GOD🙏🏽.

Here Comes Santa Claus!

Presley was happy in her marriage to Mac with their son Cannon until she found out Cannon had a little brother. Newly divorced and doing the best she could for herself and her son, the last thing she was looking for was love. That was until Santa Claus walked into her life.

Josiah was an athletic director and single parent with one son, Oakley by a “smash” relationship. His crazy baby mama drama left him focused on two things: his son and his career. That was until he dressed up as Santa Claus at his son’s school and saw Presley, who he was already smitten with in passing. When Cannon joined his tee-ball team, he sank his hooks in Presley and never let go.

The fact that they were both loving single parents pulled at the heartstrings. An added bonus was seeing the role both fathers portrayed. This hot and heavy love formed quickly but showcased how predestined love had no time constraints or limitations. Though Presley had every reason not to trust any man, Josiah showed up for her time and time again. Likewise, Presley was everything Josiah didn’t know he needed in a woman. And they both were blown away by their eventful bedroom connections. For that fact, so were we! Whew chile. This book delivered on the magic of Christmas love and a renewed love for Santa, baby!

Miss Monica, you know I love all of your books, but this one just hit different for me (in a good way). The spirituality aspect in this one just touched me so much, it felt like God was speaking to me as well.
Presley was really going through it, trying to put her life back together and be there for her son.
Although she was struggling, in all aspects of her life, her faith never wavered. She knew that she was more than her circumstance! Men and relationships were the last things on her mind, but God had a plan. Josiah, was content with taking care of his son, but seeing Presley gave him a push to pursue something more. The connection that they formed so quickly, was so sweet. Even with Presley trying to deny her feelings, Josiah was not trying to hear no. I loved how the boys took to each other, forming a bond that made their parents smile. Both Josiah and Presley were just what the other needed, and they found each other at just the right time. A perfect Christmas read! Great job!👍👍👍

All I Want for Christmas is You

This was a great holiday spirit-filled novella that was needed at the end of 2020. Mrs. Walters wrote another masterpiece. I was captivated from the beginning to the end and I loved all of the prophesies. I am like Mrs. Walters I have encountered quite a few of them in my life as well. I also loved the instant connection between Cannon and Oakley. They made sure to let it be known they were going to be brothers they spoke it into existence.

Presley deserved a real man in her life that was going to exclusively take care of her and her child. She deserved all the loving Josiah was dishing out. He knew she was his forever and made sure to claim her. His ex, Lindsey, and her ex, Mac both needed a lesson in how to be a human and treat others with dignity and respect.

This was another great read and I am looking forward to your next release.

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS

This was a beautiful Christmas themed story. God's timing for Josiah and Presley was perfect as they were navigating through single parenthood and making sure their little one's had the best. I loved the connection they had. The first time their eyes met you knew this thing between them was going to grow into something special. There were a few hiccups but I loved how upfront and honest they were with each other and didn't let their exes break up what they were building. Tis the season of happiness, joy and love which made for a great Christmas and new beginnings for Josiah and Presley.
