From an award-winning author with more than one million books sold, a new series of four heartwarming historical romances about life on the California trail. each book can be read as a stand-alone.
Colleen Pringle has been falsely accused and kicked out of her wagon train. She is desperate to get to California, start her own business and be independent. And to keep her secret. Alone on the prairie except for her wee daughter, Sheela, she is rescued by Eli. She’ll accept his help on one they part ways once they reach California.
Eli Oatman agrees to Colleen’s plan. After losing his home and the woman he thought loved him, he can’t risk his heart again. It can’t be that hard to keep his distance from Colleen, can it?
Over and over, Colleen finds herself depending on Eli despite her resolve to be independent.
Little Sheela adores Eli and steals his heart. So much for not getting close to anyone. When the past and the ugly accusations find her, will Colleen ever be able to live a life of freedom? Can Eli forget his reservations and take a risk on love?
Linda Ford grew up devouring books and making up stories in her head—often late at night when she couldn't sleep. But she hadn't planned to write. Instead, she dreamed of running an orphanage. In a way, that dream came true. She married, had four homemade children, adopted ten and lived (at times, endured) the dream.
Writing first took her to non-fiction human-interest articles for newspapers and eventually a non-fiction book about tuberculosis set in the 1930s and 1940s (Touched By The White Plague). But romance had always been her first love and she turned to writing love stories. She is multi-published in the CBA market.
She lives on a small ranch in Alberta, Canada, where she can see the mountains every day. She and her husband continue to enjoy their children and grandchildren.
Rescued Love is a sweet and clean, Christian book about life on the wagon trail to California. Life on the trail was dangerous on the best days, and it took a strong person to survive and make it to their destination. Life can change in a moment, as is what Colleen Pringle found when she is abandoned with just her almost two-year old daughter Sheela, her wagon and two oxen, along the trail by her brother- and sister-in-law. A death sentence in most instances, but not for stubborn Colleen. Her husband had already died unexpectedly right before their journey began, and Colleen had to suffer the verbal and mental abuse of her in-laws. Colleen’s greatest sin is that she is Irish. Her sister-in-law Prudence in particular is the most abusive. Prudence convinced the rest of the passengers in their wagon train that Colleen is a witch and they voted to leave her behind on the trail. Somehow Colleen and Sheela survive three days without anyone’s help.
Imagine Eli Oatman’s surprise, while out hunting for meat for his wagon train, when he comes across a woman and her baby alone on the trail. Unwilling to leave her behind, he leads her wagon to his wagon train. Thus begins an emotional journey filled with wounds from the past that have been left to fester, estrangement, and false beliefs about others. Each character in the book has their own set of challenges they need to overcome. Overall, this is a sweet story full of memories, struggle, self-discovery, healing, and following your dreams. I recommend this book to fans of sweet, Christian romance stories.
Colleen is a widowed mother of a two year old daughter. She’s on her way to California to stay with her sister and brother-in-law, where she can live in peace and provide for her daughter. Her husband was a horrible man, and his family accused her of evil deeds, so she was voted out of their wagon train.
Eli has nothing left, and is on his way to California to search for gold and buy land. He finds Colleen and Sheela alone on the prairie and takes them into his wagon train.
Colleen shrouds herself in thinking everyone is against her and she has no self worth, besides being a good mother. I had a very hard time liking her for a good portion of the book. Eli does all he can to build her up, but at times doesn’t always say the right things. Her attitude just got a little annoying at times and I rolled my eyes more than once during her rants to herself. How could she not see what a good man sweet Eli was?
I wanted to give this five stars, as I am half Irish and enjoyed that portion of the story, but Colleen was just too much.
This is the second book in the wagon train series written by Linda Ford . She had done an exceptional job with the plot and the characters. She has filled the pages with excitement and adventure along with hurt, sorrow and hope for a bright future. Colleen and her daughter have been put off a wagon train out in the middle of no where. They are discovered alone and in need of help. Reluctantly Eli persuades Colleen and little Stella to join in his wagon train to partner with him, just until they reach California and each will be free to go their own way. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
Excellent story and well developed characters. I enjoyed the details of daily life in a wagon train. Traveling west was an arduous journey for those strong enough to endure. The lilt and accent of Colleen gave the story a joy and defined who she was. I was intrigued with Eli and why he felt he had nothing to offer a woman. I would have danced an Irish Jig with him any time anywhere. This was a story of how prejudice can hurt someone to the core and have lasting feelings of no being worthy of happiness. Also, I enjoyed the Bible verses that added to the story line. Great feel good book!
Eli finds Colleen & her baby girl alone on the trail, having been banished from her own train a few days earlier. They agree to be partners for the rest of the trip to California. Their growing friendship is hampered by the secrets of her past, including the reason she was kicked off her original train. The story was very good. I was somewhat put off by all the conversations being in the form of questions, as an affectation of "Irish-speak". I'm Irish & I don't phrase everything as a question. Maybe they did a hundred years ago. I chose to read & enjoy. Looking forward to the next book.
Turned away from her wagon train to fend alone on the Western Trail, Colleen Pringle and her toddler daughter are found by Eli Oatman, who is out hunting from another wagon train. The two decide to form a partnership to travel together to California with his wagon train. Although their relationship starts as strictly business, love may bloom. This book contains insights into Colleen's Irish heritage. Themes of love and acceptance are especially warming.
Linda Ford knows how to write a good story. This book was well written and the characters were so well that you could easily imagine them. The sometimes funny and sometimes soull searching moments added a lot to the story. Watching Coleen and Eli slowly fall in love was another good aspect of the story, with both of them carrying scars from pasts romances. I happily recommend this book be added to your reading list.
This book kept me up half the night reading. I ended up saving the last few pages for the next day. I have read 6 of the books and loved every one. The hardships, love and faith were inspirational and reminded me of how important it is to see the words.. I love reading and I have all of my life which has been 80 plus years. Please keep writing your wonderful book's. Thank you.
And being hateful to Coleen. It colors her world a dreary gray which doesn’t befit an Irish girl with red hair. Eli finds her abandoned in the wilderness by a wagon train that declared her a witch. Eli agrees to partner her to,get her to California with her young daughter to meet up with her sister. One thing leads to another and they fall in love. Great story about overcoming. Good sermon breaks too.
No one was more surprised than Eli when he came upon a woman and a child abandoned by a wagon train. She was beautiful and Irish! And quite independent. He finally convinced her that she needed to join the wagon train he was a part of. They became partners in this venture. This going to be quite a journey with lots of surprises. This is an excellent series by an excellent author.
This was a nice read about Colleen and Eli. How a Colleen’s husband dies and leaves her with their daughter. Then being abandoned on the trail. For four days she is on her own before Eli comes on her. Colleen wants no help from anyone. Eli wants to help her so he takes her to his wagon train where everyone is friendly. Where their adventure starts. Need to read.

Another wonderful addition to Linda Ford's wagon train west romance. I loved the fact that she continues to give her readers a look into the lives of her characters throughout this series. With each individual installment we meet new players in the series but also the returning look at the characters from past books in this series.
A beautiful, firey Irish woman with a little winsome girl and a lonely, abandoned handsome young man met on a lonesome prairie on the way to California. Can they possibly get past old hurts and find a place where they both can find a piece of heaven together?
I have been reading Kinda Ford's books about people trying to get to California in wagon trains over the past 6 books and I love them. It is refreshing to be immersed in bread stories without detailed sex and swear words. I've learned so much more about life on the trail than what I learned in history classes. Those pioneers really had a rough time.
You will love the Love On The Western Trail Series. This is Colleen's story and I think it may be my favorite. As usual, Linda Ford weaves a wonderful story of faith, love, and family! Don't miss it!
Different style of Linda’s writing driving the point home that the main character was of Irish descent. I enjoyed the storyline, but sometimes the brogue got to be a bit much. Aye?
I had first read this author's book a few years ago and was not impressed with the writing or plot. I decided to give one of her books another try and I actually enjoyed this story.
This story is about an Irish widow finding her way West. This young widow finds herself left alone to find her way west. This story is about a young .man looking to make his way West on a wagon train. He comes across one Irish in time to help each other west.
This book once again brought vivid pictures in my mind of he struggles and happiness that bestowed this people to cross the plains leaving everything they knew behind to a new world.
Shunned and left to make her own way to California, Colleen thought she would never trust anyone again. How this story unravels is the making of this charming romance.
Such a well written, lovely story about a young widow with a child and a man who rescues them. They each have hurts from their pasts that they have to overcome, and slowly but surely they help each other realize their worth. Very sweet story.
I’ve read a lot of Linda Ford’s books and love all of them. I had trouble with this one. I couldn’t connect with her characters. I finished it, but I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
I had to force myself to complete this book. The story seemed to drag on forever and the Irish speech felt forced. I recently read the other books on the Wagon Train series and thoroughly enjoyed them.
I really enjoy all of the books that I have read from Linda Ford. Even though the theme is usually very similar, the books make you feel good. And they share so of the joys and hardships our relatives must have experienced while settling our country.
