Logan Hudson was a whole lot of sin wrapped up in heartache.

I was the son of the devil.

The spawn of the boogeyman.

Darkness was my domain.

I didn’t just thrive on the pain and misery of others, I craved it. Fed on their screams and tears.
And I wanted hers the most.

Shelby Grace. My walking, talking wet dream. So sweet that she made my teeth hurt.

But I’m cursed. Everything I touch rots at the core. I should stay away from her. Leave her alone to live her innocent existence. Except I can’t. Because there’s one thing darkness is meant to do…

Corrupt the light.

I know I shouldn’t go down this road. Logan Hudson was a bad idea with worse consequences. The pretty boy with a charming smile and a list of conquests a mile long.

But how do I resist the devil when he’s always there? Tempting me with sparkling green eyes and wicked smirk.
It was impossible to hate him. And trust me I was trying.

Because it wasn’t the monster I was afraid of.

"Scartissue" is the second book in the "Order of Ravens and Wolves" series by T.L. Hodel. Told in dual perspectives , Get ready to finally meet Logan and Shelby!!

I don't think I have ever read any author who made such an amazing debut last time. Her first book 'Aftereffect' was one of my top reads and to say that I had been going crazy about this book would be an understatement!!! Logan absolutely made me drool from the moment he made an appearance in the first book and I was just so lucky to get an ARC for this amazing book.

Logan is your proper definition of Hot and Ruthless. It just took him a couple of chapters to make it to my list of the most hot/possessive heroes of all time! The way his character his written is phenomenal and don’t even get me started on some of his scenes. The man made me drool so much , it's not even funny😂🤦.

Shelby is the perfect match for Logan. She was the pretty quirky blonde who kept him on his toes. Logan was the one boy whom she knew she would never get. He was just too arrogant and absolutely delicious. She was totally unprepared when he showed interest in her. His dark fantasies were scary as well as addictive to her. Soon she found herself being lost in him which was very dangerous considering the number of secrets Logan was keeping from her.

I am not at all exaggerating when I say that this book is definitely one of my best DubCon reads EVER !! The author has me addicted to this world of characters and there is nothing that I won't give to get my hands on the next book!!! The side characters are just so hot , and don't even get me started on Silas and Preston. It'll be a never ending discussion.😂

A definite recommendation to all the dark Romance lovers out there! If you are into themes like High School Bully Romance, Dub Con ,Suspense with twists , then do not hesitate to one click this one!!

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Style: Dark Young Adult Romance
Story: 4/5
Sexual: SEX-CINTINGLY GOOD
Enjoyment: 4/5
Male: Dark and Possessive
Series: Book 2
Pages: 272
Kindle Unlimited: Yes

I really enjoyed book 2. Definitely dark as it has,
Voyeurism, sensitive language, sensitive racial language and force intimacy just to name a few. Read at your own risk will have triggers.

Logan, I wasn’t sure if I would like him after what happen in book 1, but his pursuit of Shelby was very interesting. He had his dark side and that’s the side he uses to reel in Shelby. These are not your typical teenagers as the guys can be ruthless with others and possessive over their girls.

Apart of what makes this book appealing to me, like the first book in the series, is how the author uses the other characters. You get a taste of everyone which heightens the appeal of anticipation for their story’s. I personally am still anticipating Mason’s and Harper’s story. Any little piece of information I read about them just gets my blood pumping.

Overall, I am please with the outcome of this story and feel this will be a TBR author when books are released. Although I am a fan of the first book, I was not a fan of a couple of things from that book. However, after book 2, I definitely feel with this author, you will have to be a true lover of dark to appreciate the turns she takes with her stories.

***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s definitely about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the stories you read. I know we all have different opinions and taste with what we read and hope this review was helpful.

Toxic book i ever read in my entire life.
I know its a dark romance but does it have to be this much toxic in it? Like it’s so toxic I can’t even read the entire book because of toxic it is. I can feel it in my eyes reading it like wtf toxic book.

THE HERO IS VERY TOXIC BAD IN A BAD WAY KIND OF PERSON. HE LIKES PLAYING ROUGH IN A VERY BAD WAY, NOT IN A BDSM WAY BUT IN A TOXIC WRONG WAY EVER. HE LIKES TO SEE BLOOD AS MUCH AS HE CAN HAVE IN HIS TORTURE ANOTHER HUMAN BEING TIME. LIKE WTF!!!!

HE LIKES THE HEROINE WAY TOO MUCH AND HE IS OTT POSSESSIVE ALPHA MALE BUT IN THAT TIME HE LIKES TO FCK AROUND MANY WOMAN AND LET THEM SUCK HIM OFF WHEN HE SAYS TO THE HEROINE DO NOT EVER GO ON ANOTHER DATE WITH ANYONE ELSE!!!! WHEN HE IS DOING THAT SH*T LIKE WTF!!!! something wrong with his brain to think something like that wtf error brain.

HE EVEN GETS HARD WHEN HE SEE HIS STEP SISTER WHILE HE TELLS TO THE HEROINE’S FRIENDS AT SCHOOL TO NOT LOOK AND TOUCH THE HEROINE BECAUSE SHE IS MINE. WTFFFFF

EVEN AFTER THE HERO TAKE HER VIRGINITY, HE QUESTIONS HIMSELF LIKE 20 QUESTIONS RUNS INTO HIS HEAD SAYING AND ASKING HIMSELF IS SHE WORTH IT? AND HE ALSO COMPARES THE HEROINE TO MANY OF HIS PAST GIRLS LIKE WTF YOU JUST HAVE A GIFT FROM HER AND NOW YOU THINKING ABOUT MANY GIRL!!!!!! *SMACK*

THE MOST DISGUSTING PART IS THAT THE HERO AND HEROINE HAVE SEX NEXT TO THEIR FRIENDS HAVING SEX AS WELL!!!!! LIKE NEXT TO EACH OTHER TO SEE EACH OTHERS PLEASURE!!!! AND YES ITS THEIR CLOSEST FRIENDS FROM THE PREVIOUS BOOK OF THIS SERIES!!!! WTF!!!!!!!

I don’t like toxic heroes and toxic books like this. Too toxic for anyone really. There are plenty great books with thrilling hot love story with dark romance but not too toxic like this shit. Do not worry. EVEN THE WAY THE HEROES TALKS TO HIS FRIENDS ITS WAY TOO STUPID AND TOXIC. I FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO BLEACH MY EYES WHEN I READ THIS BOOK. I thought this book would be a good and better one than before but nope. Its getting way worst than ever.....

I only give 1 stars because of how OTT POSSESSIVE THE HERO IS. Thats the only thing i like about this entire shitty book. BYE

Logan Hudson is sin wrapped in a sėxtastîc package. With his sights set on Shelby Grace, even her tough-as-nails attitude has no chance at resisting his domineering nature.

“Are you going to give me what I want?”
“Oh no, baby. I’m going to give you what you fucking need.”

Scartissue, not only explores the tortured pasts of Logan and Shelby, but also dives further into the Order of Ravens and Wolves.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book and the world building. I’m also really enjoying the cast of characters and am looking forward to continuing the series and getting to know the other characters better and more about the Order.

🫦 Kinks: Spanking, Marking, Exhibitionism, Voyeurism

⛔️ Warning: This book may cause blushing, squirming, combusting panties, and/or self-care. It’s definitely NSFW or with a kiddo by your side. In fact, I would highly recommend you read this one after dark to avoid side eye or awkward conversations.

📣 Type: Scartissue is part of the Order of Ravens & Wolves series of interconnected standalones. However, these books will be best enjoyed when read in order.

Love's unwavering ties

Although a dark themed, enemies to lovers romance, I spent the better part of the story keeled over in laughter. This book managed to be dark but hilarious at the same time. The author outdid herself with the hero, Logan, who while the ultimate, crazy alpha male, was the beacon of much of the mirth, dark humor really. A broken and damaged person, this tattooed bad boy was driven to perversion that his love interest, Shelby could accept, even liked. Shelby was no wallflower; she was his perfect match — dishing out as much as Logan was giving.

The storyline delved more into the character ties, blossoming relationships, and the secret society: the Order, moreover, how Logan’s and Shelby’s personal histories and traumas shaped them into the interconnected, fated lovers they become. When I say their chemistry was explosive, it is an understatement. Theirs was one of the strongest and most ignited relationships I’ve read. Pure fire. Logan was almost feral in the bedroom, and Shelby to her surprise was an avid participant to his kinks, much to her shattering satisfaction. At the same time, I loved the vulnerability Logan showed Shelby; he was all in with his, as he lovingly called her, Cherry Pie. From unicorns and the pink fluff that adored Shelby’s room (and later increased from Logan’s misguided gifting) to her skills under car hoods, Shelby was a strong character, able to endure difficulties and a fitting complement to Logan.

I enjoyed the cadre of characters, their unique personalities and interactions, as well as their connectedness to the story’s arc. I applauded the diversity of the group too. This author went there, painting and celebrating a representative slide of the differences in the world. The foreshadowing of relationships and some new characters introductions also got me excited for their next stories — Parker, Lana, Preston, Marnie, Mase, Harper, Chase, Naomi, and others.

Ever a watchful eye to the evolution of the Order and their Knights, I can’t wait to read what comes next in this series. Can it get any better? I can tell you this: it has been one heck of a ride. Logan surprised me, becoming one of the most charismatic characters I’ve come across. You will cry from the emotions this story elicits as well as cry in laughter at the incredible humor. Excellent read. I want more.

This is the 2nd installment for this new author. It's HS/NA mafia-ish with a little MC and tattoo shop throw in. I thought the mechanics were improved from the 1st book. Lots of potential.

What I liked:

• virgin h - she's sassy

• Psycho stalker-y OTT j/p H - he's nuts

• fast paced

• dubcon/noncon - I appreciate that the author went for it, even if it was not my cuppa

• less gramatical/word choice errors and hanging ideas than the first

What I didn't like:

• very chaotic - just too much going on making it difficult to follow

• I needed more relationship/character development - why do these people like each other? Why is he acting like a complete psycho? Why is she accepting his behavior?

• the noncon/dubcon didn't feel exclusive to the h, which completely misses the point for me

• I didn't feel much emotion between the h and H other than his OTT out of place anger and her fear. When they got to the "I love yous" I was asking, "but why??"

• like the last book, this book includes a shock value sex scene that just didn't make sense to me.

• I don't love that this h and the h in the last book are both 16. I like a young h, but this is some intense sex and that age made me squeamish... and I'm not someone who gets very squeamish... I would have been more comfortable with an 18-yr old h.

Bottom line: There's tons of potential here. Lots of entertaining good ideas. The writing has improved. I'll likely try the next book in the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

⚠️For the Safety Squad⚠️

• no sharing - but there is group sex (exhibitionism/voyeur)

• no actual cheating, but there are things in this book that would likely turn-off those concerned about safety and OW drama - I like OW drama, but this H had me side-eyeing at least twice.

• noncon/dubcon - there's one scene that I felt was straight brutal noncon - dubcon is sprinkled throughout

• there is a scene where children are being sexually abused. We do not get the details, but we do know it happens and get the aftermath

THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOK: SCARTISSUE.

GENRE: DARK CONTEMPORARY BULLY ROMANCE.
AUTHOR: T.L. HODEL.
TYPE: BOOK #2 IN THE SERIES ORDER OF RAVEN AND WOLVES.
POV: FIRST PERSON: DUAL PROSPECTIVE.
MY RATING: 5 "HOLY-MOLY...I AM SOOO HOT FOR LOGAN" STARS.

Have you ever read a book...where after reading the last page of the book you go back to the start and keep re-reading the book again and again because you know, no matter how many times...you still won't be getting enough of these characters...
Well, this book is it for me...
You have no idea how much time it took me to get over my hangover from Logan and his hotness!!!

Logan has scars...emotional and physical, maring his body beneath all his tattoos...He is a psycho...but he finds a craziness inside Shelby which can tame him.
I don't want to say much about the storyline because it's going to be full of spoilers...But one thing is for sure...the suspense and the action-packed plot will keep you on the edge of your set throughout this reading journey.

So many gasping out moments and biting your nails, in anticipation of what's going to happen next...*sigh*...it just makes you go crazy...

And the action between the sheets...your kindle may melt with their chemistry and hotness...off the charts...explicit Non-con scenes...perfection...Logan was not a redeemable hero and that's what I loved about him...His character was steadfast till the end...

The first book had me intrigued by the amazing world-building skills of author Hodel...but now, I am literally a die-hard fan of her books...and that last teaser for the next couple, in the end, was all I needed for a slow, painful death...I hope she will take mercy on us and give us the next book soon!!!

4.75 stars!

Scartissue is the second book in The Order of Ravens and Wolves series and features Logan and Shelby and I loved this book more than the first. Shelby has always had an attraction to Logan but never saw herself being one of the many women through his revolving doors. Logan has always been obsessed with Shelby but was afraid of claiming and breaking the one woman that stirred his soul. It isn't until Micha tells Logan that Shelby may not be as innocent as she seems that he decides to go after her. And it was EVERYTHING.

This might be one of the hottest dub/con stories I have ever read. Logan and Shelby are fire and ice and come together in the best way. Logan is slightly sadistic (without seeming cruel), dominant, possessive, violent and obsessive and Shelby is independent with a fiery personality. Their inner demons match up perfectly and their fall into each other happened in the best way. Both of them have inner and outer scars and they heal each other.

Of course we still have Logan's father (the enemy from book 1) in the picture who has nefarious goals for The Order of Ravens and Wolves and like the first book...Shelby is stuck in the crossfire. While I think the formula from the first book translated the same here, I didn't get bored and was eager to find out what would happen.

The only thing that bothered me was the borderline cheating from Logan. However, his grovel (while I could have used a little more) was enough to make me forgive him. Logan's past and father got into his head and I could understand what happened.

Overall, if you're a fan of steamy dark romance then definitely grab this one. While I probably won't be picking up the next book since surprise pregnancy isn't my favorite trope, I WILL be looking out for Preston's story. And Masons.

Triggers: Dub/con, kidnapping, attempted rape/rape, drugs, violence, voyeurism

The second book in the Order of Ravens and Wolves does not disappoint!
Remembering that Aftereffect is this author's debut and this is only her second novel, I was blown away by the skilful storytelling. The pace is relentless, the angst and emotion high, and the characters unforgettable. This book is everything I look for in bully romance - a tormented, slightly sadistic hero - a sassy, take-no-prisoners heroine who just can't help falling for her tormentor. As with the best bully romance, there's a huge amount going on under the surface, not just with the Order but also between Logan and Shelby. As each layer is peeled away, these two are both each others' destruction and their salvation. And just when I thought they couldn't possibly find a happy ending, the author surprised me yet again. As with Aftereffect, every great gain requires great sacrifice and no one is left unscathed by the secrets revealed in this book. Read it and then brace yourself for Preston and Parker ...
Highly recommended.

What can I say about this book? For one I could go on and on about how much I loved this book but seriously who’s got time for that.

This book wasn’t shit, it was the absolute shit! It was so incredibly good that I greedily gobbled up these pages like a junkie needing her fix. This book has the ability to pull you in like no other and leave you at an all time high. It was an incredible feeling to be left with. As the pages went by, I was starting to get that bittersweet feeling of having to let them go.

The Ravens and Wolves Characters have become a part of me now with how loud they speak to you as you read the book. It was like the characters story was bleeding onto my soul.

From the moment that these two main characters made their appearance in book one, I knew that they were gonna be matched. It was just like they were meant to be. To me they were like two polar opposites but not if that makes sense. Logan is this possessive and ruthless man and is not afraid to hurt anybody who screams danger or touches what is his. Logan is very protective of the things that are his and Shelby has made her way, way up upon that list. It’s a choice that is no longer hers but the question remains for when.

The one thing I loved that this author did was that she didn’t drag out the whole I want you, but I don’t want you sort of scenario that played out upon this plot. Shelby didn’t know that she wanted Logan until Logan made his very strong advances against her that she eventually couldn’t deny how strong their chemistry and connection was. Their chemistry and connection was like electricity, so strong that it lights up the whole world and without it, we have nothing.

Don’t even get me started on Shelby, she was a perfect match for Logan. She was different but it was so her. She was a different that if it was put upon someone else, it wouldn’t look the same. She is someone who is so strong, who is resilient and brave and being around Logan Brave is something you must be. Shelby isn’t afraid to tell you how it is, and can play the game just as good as anybody else.

Secrets and Secrets are stacked up in this book especially surrounding the Secret Society and especially Logan as well. But let’s just say, when those start to reveal themselves, you better bet your ass that you hold on for the ride that is gonna take place.

I’m just in awe with this author, the way she compels you into this world of characters. The main characters I loved wholeheartedly and they had their time to tell their story in such a phenomenal way but one thing stood out above it all was the friendships and the secondary characters to this book. They were what made this book sky rocket in perfection even more. I certainly cannot wait for the rest of these characters stories to unfold as I need to know every single ones story.

This was hands down a book you need to read. It has everything that us dark Romance readers crave in our books. It’s not just a dark romance, it’s got some bully vibes thrown in as well as some suspense that we all need a bit of when we read our books. But the thing I love the most is the Secret Society vibe to it. It gives it that extra intrigue.

I still think the story is ridiculous, but it is slightly more bearable than the first one because I like the chemistry between Shelby and Logan. The couple is more tolerable than Micha and Riley.

Sigh... this was a disappointing read. It had elements that I usually love. Possessive, ridiculously jealous OTT stalker hero with a sweet, innocent heroine. But holy shit, the execution... all the characters were written in such an immature, embarrassing way. Like who the hell talks like the way these characters do IRL? This reads like a Hollywood film written by old execs trying to write teenagers. It was so cringe. Take, for example, this lovely interaction between the heroine's "good girl" friend group and the hero's "bad boy" group that brought along a woman that was dressed in a way that didn't conform to their modesty standards:

"What are you doing here?” Riley growled at Micha, “This is girls’ night.”
Micha shot Tico a dirty look, “Doesn’t look like girl’s night.”
“We brought a girl,” Logan said, flashing his perfect white teeth.
That’s when I noticed the blonde tip-toeing closer. My eyes rolled over her black silk dress and Jimmy Choo shoes. Hardly the kind of outfit for the Causegrove. Though I had to admit she was rocking it. Didn’t so much as stumble on the rocky ground, and those had to be at least two inch heels.
“Bitchy Barbie.” Riley’s brow rose. “Seriously?”
“What the hell is this, Logan?” the girl huffed and crossed her arms.
I could see why she’d been dubbed Bitchy Barbie. This girl had the best resting bitch face I’d ever seen.

Don't you just love the smell of slut shaming and women hating on other women. Literally all this girl did was look pretty, dress fancy, and EXIST, and their entire "good girl" friend group is snarling and snapping at her, calling her a "Bitchy Barbie." They honestly sound like the monstrous bullies that they so despise, and they don't even see it. Of course, it turns out that "Bitchy Barbie" is a brainless catty bimbo, but I honestly don't see how anyone in the main friend group was acting any better? They were the ones attacking first in this.

"It’s a party,” Logan sang, throwing his arms open wide.
“This is not a party.” Bitchy Barbie carefully plucked something off the couch, curled her lip at it,
and flicked it away. “It’s reject day at the homeless shelter.”
“Sorry babe,” Tico snickered, “If you’re looking for cocktails at the Plaza, you came to the wrong
place.”
The curl in her lip deepened. “Clearly.”
“Stop complaining,” Parker scoffed. “Think of it like camping.”
“I don’t camp.”
“There’s a shocker,” he muttered.

Wow, what an evil woman! How dare she not like cool activities like camping and be so dainty and girly! Good thing our heroine is not like the other girls ™ and has cool hobbies like fixing cars and being a grease monkey.

"Everything’s covered in dirt.” She exhaled a puff of air and turned her unimpressed eyes Logan’s way. “Where, exactly, am I supposed to sit?”
I don’t know why, but it pissed me off that she expected Logan to cater to her. Maybe it was just because I didn’t like snooty people. And this girl, whoever she was, was as pompous as they came.
“If you put a little more clothing on, it wouldn’t be a problem.”
I could feel the judgement in her cool glare as her gaze slowly swept over my black jeans and green shirt.
“Oh honey, I don’t dress down for anyone.”
Admittedly, the shirt wasn’t something I would normally wear, but for some reason the color called to me. I stole a quick glance at Logan’s sparkling eyes.

Fucking disgusting. This is our heroine. The same one that hates being told by men what she should be allowed to dress in. Also, wtf kind of argument is that? If Barbie wears more clothes, she won't worry about getting dirty sitting? Wat? This entire dialogue makes me cringe and feel embarrassment for everyone involved. The women are clawing at and slut shaming each other while the smug bastards are just sitting back looking amused and smirking at the mutual internal misogyny.

"Naomi doesn’t dress up, either,” Riley snarled.
Ah, this girl was Naomi. That made sense. Rye told me a lot about her, and so far, she’d lived up to every one of my meager expectations.
Naomi sneered at my best friend.
“It’s called class, honey. Something you clearly have none of.”
“Hooker isn’t a class,” Rye scoffed, “I hope you’re wearing underwear. I’d hate for the couch to
catch something.”

Yes, this evil woman lives up to the school rumors you heard. Because your friend group is so much different and aren't mean at all. Also, why the hell does Naomi sound like a 50 year old waitress at a diner now? "Honey"?? How old are these people? And again, our heroine's friend group is lovely with the slut shaming accusations. Totally better than this lady hitting back with insults on them being poor and having poor fashion sense. I dunno about you, but I'm gonna think the friend group that accuses a girl of being a hooker with STDs is the meaner of the two parties.

This book is filled with moments like this where the heroine is hanging out with her friend group and they say embarrassing shit that doesn't even sound like stuff teenagers IRL would say. And then Logan is around to be smug and always have the upper hand as the heroine sputters and has no comebacks and just acts petulant. It's a damn shame.

I did enjoy the story overall, and it does continue from the first book since it's an interconnected series, but I'm not a fan of Logan our mmc! I actually really liked him in the first book. Especially with the hints of his dark side, but he pissed me off way too many times in this. And btw, there is no TW for CHEATING! Thank god we don't get the full scene with all the gut-wrenching details! And while he doesn't go through with it all the way, it is still revealed that stuff happens. I mean, it's at 80% into the book so it was a huge disappointment! He goes to the fmc after to grovel and tell her how much he fucked up basically. She asks if he touched her...he says yes and then she asks if she touched him...he doesn't answer out of guilt. He says he couldn't go through with it BUT he was literally in the position seconds away from it happening!!!! He then basically says he fucked up amd he proclaims his love for her (FOR THE FIRST TIME) and she admits he loves him to and then all is ok in the world 😒 Given his playboy past and the various comments throughout the book of how attractive other girls are, even though he finishes his thought and focuses back on the fmc, it still put a bad taste in my mouth about him.

Logan and Shelbys love story was everything I was waiting for!!!

5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Scartissue: The Order of Ravens and Wolves by T L Holder

Logan and Shelbys love story was everything I was waiting for!!! Logan was a broken alphahole with a fxcked up past to say the least. His character was every dark book worm's dream, possessive, obsessive, compulsive and reckless.

Innocent, untouched Shelby was Logan's biggest temptation, he tore through her angelic shell and brought her to the dark side.

I love everything about the Order of Ravens and Wolves, with each book I find myself more and more intrigued with each character, especially with the subtle hints about their love interests, I'm obsessed with the interconnecting stories and how they all link together!!!

I can't work out which characters are my faves but Logan is definitely in the running, he's so beautiful and wicked in the same breath...

Another must read from T L Holdel

T L Hodel has delivered again! Like with Aftereffect I devoured this book, so many interesting characters. I love the interaction between all the characters. I should have reread aftereffect before reading this as it took a while for me to figure out again who everyone was. This is joining aftereffect on my favourites list as it just keeps moving along and keeps you reading at a great pace! Love how possessive she writes her characters. Only downside I now have to wait for the next read!

Wonderful Bully Romance

I really loved this High School Bully Romance, it is rather Dark however I thought it was not too Dark. There is a lot of action and danger in this story and at the same there are a lot of 🔥 sort of scenes and all it is terrific. There are are lots of great characters and I loved most of them. This book keeps you just a bit on edge as you are not always sure what is going to happen next, there is a great HEA at end though.

The Set-Up: Once Logan saw Shelby, it was a done deal. But no, he saw her love of the color pink, and the stuffed animals on her bed including three unicorns, and concluded that the sweet virgin was too innocent for his particular brand of fun. He was too corrupted by his dark past, his tastes too depraved; there's no way she could take him in the way he needed. He wouldn't allow himself to pursue her, but he couldn't stay away either, so he stalked the Bejeezus out of her instead. This went on for a few months, until Micha convinced him that Shelby's sexuality could be 'trained' to suit Logan's sadistic tendencies. Encouraged, Logan quickly springs into action, starting the process of forcefully claiming Shelby, both in and out of the bedroom.

Meanwhile, Ryker remains alive and imprisoned by the Order, much to Logan's frustration. While the others believe their fight against Ryker is won, and wish to keep him around for information, Logan knows better. As long as his father is alive, he remains a threat. As new information comes to light about the Knights' pasts, he knows that it's only a matter of time before Ryker finds a way to terrorize him and the people he cares about once again.

Thoughts: I had a great time with this book, but it wasn't quite at the first book's level for me. Now to be fair, I knew going in that this story wasn't going to be up my alley in the same way as Aftereffect, just as I lean towards Micha's style more than Logan's. But besides that, the love story didn't have as much going for it as Micha and Riley's. I didn't feel their connection as deeply. I wasn't as riveted as I had been with the first book. I still loved their story, though. It was still fun seeing these two come together, not to mention catching up with my favorite group of sexy murderers!

Shelby was a great character. Although I wish we had gotten to see more of the side of her that works on cars and races them. We got a hefty amount of her love of pink, and her agreeable personality, but I wanted car racing and mechanics! It might have been nice to get more of her personality in general, actually. I think it relied a bit too heavily on the first book for character development for both Shelby and Logan.

I did really enjoy seeing Logan soften toward Shelby, showing her love and affection despite his father's best efforts. You could see how Logan actually wasn't a bad person, he was just raised to have a really warped mindset about a lot of things, coupled with mountains of unaddressed trauma. That statement could actually be applied to all of the Knights, probably. I think it's part of what made them so endearing despite their terrible actions.

"Over the months, he’d only gotten sweeter and more terrifying."

Maybe it's just my own tastes bleeding in to my interpretation, but it didn't feel like Shelby was as naturally into S&M as Riley had been into Micha's nonconsent kink. The comment that Micha made about "training" Riley to his sexual tastes was odd to me, because Riley seemed to be naturally compatible with Micha. It made sense, because it fit with their predatory/prey dynamic. Shelby being into Logan's kink just seemed like lucky break. Especially considering he didn't end up "training" her at all.

"The pained look on the prick’s face made me want to kiss her. My little Cherry Pie had some power in those legs. I felt that power when I held her down, but she didn’t use all her strength on me. _____ got it full force.
She really does like me."

There were other reasons why I felt a little unsure of Logan and Shelby's sex life, too. For one, when Micha forced Riley into a sexual relationship, he did it somewhat gradually. The way I saw it, he was concerned with her pleasure, and made sure that, despite not having her consent, she enjoyed it. It was part of the fun for him, making her love it when she was so desperate to resist. Logan didn't go this route - at all. For being so worried about her before he made his move, he kind of didn't give a fuck once he got started. He threw Shelby into the deep end in a big way, and he enjoyed her discomfort with it. It got weird sometimes. Details in a spoiler tagged footnote below the TW.*

While I readily admit I have limited knowledge of this kink, I always thought that in an S&M relationship, counterweighting sadistic acts with tenderness and aftercare is a necessary part of the deal. You spank someone to hell, and you both get off on it. But then, you then you rub some aloe on there, and you give their ass a chance to heal a bit before you go at it again. You might be nicer for a little while, or even comfort them emotionally if need be. It's the way you show the person that while you get off on hurting them, you don't hate them as a person, and you care about their well-being.

Logan didn't really do that. He did made an attempt their first night, wiping her down with a cloth afterward and not forcing himself on her while she slept. It was sweet, in his warped way. But still, he didn't seem to care much about how she was feeling, physically or emotionally. I get that caring was all new to him and he was winging it, but he was supposed to have strong feelings for Shelby. I would think that that would translate to concern for her well-being. I kind of needed that aftercare as a reader. I needed to see that even though he liked hurting her, he cared about her body and feelings. There was evidence of his care in other ways though, and it's entirely possible that I'll be alone in having this problem.

I'll be a vague as possible, but something that happened at around the 80% mark pissed me right the fuck off. Someone royally fucked up in a way that required a lot, and I mean a lot, of groveling that we didn't get. Some people will be fine with the way it played out. I'm not a militant anti-doormat reader, and I agreed that they should have been forgiven, but it was just way too easy for me. Discussed further in a spoiler tagged footnote, below the TW spoilers**.

There was a nice balance of love story to suspense, I thought. It had some seriously hard moments to handle in there. It's a fucked up book. But there was a good amount of levity as well, and it made the book a lot easier to handle. I still love this friend group, and it was great to understand their dynamic more.

Stray Observations:
》Mags has become my new favorite character. I wanted every scene with her in it to be longer. Whatever is going on with her, Javier and Finn is incredible already.
》It was gross that Micha told Riley that she looked like a slut and tried to make her go change. I know we like our jealous/possessive, overbearing heroes, but there's an attractive kind of controlling and a very unattractive kind, and that was the latter. Disappointed. I'll have to try to forget about that.
》Cherry Pie was a little awkward for a nickname. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, you know? Bit of a mouthful.
》What was with Naomi hanging out all the time? Who invited her ass? It's obvious that the author is laying the groundwork for her own story, but sometimes she was just at Logan's house with no explanation. Go home.

There were some questions left unanswered that I'm really hoping we'll get some answers for in the next book. I'm so excited for Parker and Lana's story! I sounds like it's going to be a good one!!

Why, oh why? I love possessive H but how can you expect loyalty from the h when you’re sleeping around? Ugh.
What a disappointment.

This whole series is so damn flawed, and I'm so mad because it had so much potential.
There are so many loose ends, so many details that could be avoided and the story would be so much better. There are many too traumatic situations that are not dealt with the way they should.
Rape, abuse, violence... and all those things occur as if they were not that big of a deal... when they so are.

The sex scenes are quite hot and fun and easy, which could be why it has 1 of those two stars, and the other one because it made me feel kind of a hypocrite if I didn’t and continued to read the rest of the series, which I will.

Logan and Shelby story:

This was a fun mess with your head read. A bit confusing with so many characters involved, but I enjoyed all the naughty bad boy bits. This book has me excited to read the rest of the series and (I started in the middle🤪) eager for Micha and Riley's story I love the raw badassness of Micha and the firecracker hell-catness of Riley. Parker and Lana remind me of LJ Shen's book Broken Knight with Luna and Knight the only I/R couple in the series:

This book glorifies assault.

I feel the plot was seriously disturbing with multiple instances of assault. The trigger warning is grossly misinforming. The author needs to be aware that “no means no”. Anything else is rape (although according to this book it’s not). This plot is very worrying and I’m concerned it will wrongly inform readers. Please please be aware this is NOT acceptable behaviour.
Don’t even get me started on the child raping that is just casually thrown in, as if it is an every day occurrence, that the children recover from in 3 months- what??! Major questionable themes aside, I found the plot lacking and skipped through a lot. Would not recommend, unfortunately and I hope the author takes time to educate herself on abusive behaviour and how to avoid normalising this.

privacy invasion is something i can't move on from, i realized from this book and from previous reading experiences.

so he stalks her and all that but when he goes to her room, she has written a journal that he reads and the story's main lead as the same name as our H and there are sex scenes.....and this is a 16 years old h.

plus, I didn't feel the connection between them at all. why does everything have to be just sexual for most authors? the whole base is just sexual attraction and H's thoughts about dom/sum sex with a freaking 16 years old?

even reading abt it felt illegal.

not for me i guess
