How do you stop running when you can’t remember why you started?
My name is Sloane Hanley, and I’m just a girl who needs to keep moving. Bad things happen when I stop. I come out of blackouts covered in blood. No memory of what happened.
Then, I’m saved from an attack, sent through a portal to a hidden town, and the blackouts stop. I discover I’m a shifter, a wolf. A rare one, too. An Omega.
I have true mates, Alphas, and they want to help me. I just need to stay in one place long enough to let them.
Omega Outcast is the first book in the Claiming Her Alphas trilogy in which a wolf shifter heroine claims multiple mates while attempting to uncover the cause of her blackouts. This book contains violence, explicit language, and sexual content recommended for readers 18 years and older.
This just didn't work for me. The storyline? I just can't see it. A killer omega being controlled by a mysteries master and has blackouts? She meets two of the ( how ever many true mates) and she doesn't really know them honestly, but they end up throwing hands over her and she screams she loves them both? How do you just up and love strangers? How do you keep saying you need to leave! That no growing attached, yet out of no where u declare ur love for stranger's? Dnf @45%
When picking arcs and review-copies I always ask myself how badly I really want to read a book. Would I have bought the book? Or would I have at least been interested in buying it? If not, I don't accept anymore. If the blurb doesn't convince me, there's a big chance the book won't either. But this blurb sounded just awesome. The mystery, the guys and of course the main character. I was therefore quite happy when my review-copy landed in my mailbox.
From start to finish this book is amazingly exciting and entertaining. Although the danger is not getting too close yet in this first book, we feel the danger and the constant threat hanging over the main character. It's one of the reasons the book is quite addictive. Every chapter comes with new information, with new answers, but also with new questions. There is always something revealed or something going on and it's impossible to stop.
That's also because all the guys are quite interesting too. They all have their own issues. And all their issues are also quite different. Because all of the guys having point of view chapters we have some information our heroine doesn't have and I'm quite excited to find out what happens if she discovers what they've been hiding from her. But, I'm also quite curious for the guys to figure out what's really going on with our heroine!
I also really loved our heroine. I think it's quite hard not to, especially because her backstory is quite sad, just like what seems to be going on with her right now. It's however not just that making her likable. It's also because it's so clear that all her small habits, all her emotions and all her actions are a result of the life she has lead. And all those small habits and emotions and actions therefore tell a lot about her as a person, but also about her history. And I can't wait to learn more.
Omega Outcast is the first book in Romy Lockhart's Claiming Her Alpha's series. The overall premise for the storyline of this book is good, but it's flawed at the same time. The author introduces readers to a young woman (she's a teenager and barely legal) by the name of Sloane. When the story Sloane is coming to from another blackout, and she just is ready to end everything. But it seems that there is something holding her on, because when she meets Caid and he offers her safety for the night...she takes it. But things move pretty quickly from there. You find out that not all is what it seems with Caid and that Sloane has more mates waiting for her out there...obviously since it's a reverse harem story. Omega Outcast takes the usual: Alpha, Beta, and Omega trope and gives it a major twist. Gone is the usual -Omega the nurturer and here is the new - Omega the assassin, the magical creation that can be so much more and a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands. She's fast, she's dangerous and she's being manipulated to kill. She wants it all to stop, but there is no truly stopping it. She finds out one at a time that she has multiple mates, but the blackouts are still a threat. Something is triggering her to try and return to her "master" and she must try to find a way to break free but it won't be easy. It seems that the author is going to be giving Sloane four mates: Caid, Troy, Paxton, and Gray. I really like Paxton and Gray the most. They are the kindest, though Paxton is probably the one who is the kindest and empathetic of them all. Gray is a close second, but as he is the sheriff of a small town, he has to use his authority from time to time and that bothers him in certain moments. I don't fault him for that especially when it's in a moment of panic. Her other two mates: Caid and Troy...I'm on Team Get Rid of Them. Caid is a selfish jerk and I honestly despise him. He is a loner. I'm fine with that, but he doesn't really want to put in any effort towards the others. He simply wants Sloane to himself and forget the potential consequences since he himself is bound to a demon. Troy is really no better. He's violent, intent on hurting Sloane if he can and apparently in need of a shrink and a padded room. But these two idiots aren't the only problems that Sloane is facing inside what should be her safe place. There is another there and it's close to one of her mates. I liked this book overall, but Caid, Troy and even some moments with Sloane really mire things for me. I think that Sloane's immaturity detract from the story and the author choosing to use a character SO young...is a knock agains the story for me as well. There isn't a lot of building up between the characters. It's just: here's the mate bond, they all feel it, sooner or later they're going to have sex. Also, Sloane is supposed to be virgin, but neither character reacts like that's the case, it's just thrown in there as an after thought later in the storyline when she's having another scene. I'm choosing to rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. It does have good moments. I like half of her mates and would honestly chuck the rest - mate bond or not. The demon is interesting as well as this mysterious Master that is pulling Sloane's strings. I'm going to need these "mates" of hers to straighten up and I'm going to need her to grow up as well. If you like paranormal romance novels, reverse harem and don't mind a barely legal fmc then you might consider checking this book/series out. I'm hoping that the next book will show significant improvement.
This was an interesting take on the fated mates trope. A girl who doesn't know she's a shifter and 4 alpha mates, but let's just say not all of them are up for the idea!
The characters are all well written and work well together. The mystery of Sloane's past is well set up for future books, and as ever, there's a cliff-hanger leaving you begging for the next book!
This just grabbed me from the get go as we meet Sloan who has no idea what the hell is going on! Suffering from blackouts and waking from them covered in blood, this is full of mystery, suspense and intrigue and you will find yourself totally hooked. It’s an entertaining read as we follow Sloan as she journeys on and meets her fated mates. Twists and turns will have you on the edge of your seat and I’m off to read book two!
I love the uniqueness of this storey and the way it plays out. Sloan is a shifter and a being used as a deadly assasin but is completely unaware of it until she is ordered to kill 2 of her fated mates, This storey also have a twist on the way Omega's are treaded and used. Full of action form start to finish with some interesting and diverse mates with plenty of sizzle and steam. his is definately worth a read
Sloane is a shifter but she doesn't know it. Living on the run and having constant blackouts has caused her to be very untruthful. She ends up meeting her the mates who are all alphas d very different from each other. They have to learn to a cept each other and figure out who is causing all her balckouts before she disappears again
Wow talk about different and unique shifter story. That cliffhanger at the end omg I can’t wait to read the next book because dang that left me needing more. Definitely recommend giving this book a read.
Have you ever woken up and wondered what you have done? That is something that Sloane has to ask herself every time she wakes up from a blackout. She finds herself alone in a dark street and there is a hellhound ready to pounce on her until Caid saves her. He is her one true mate. Then she’s taken through a portal and she meets up with Gray who is the sheriff of a hidden town and also her one true mate. She then Meats Paxton and Troy who each are also her one true mate. She has to come to grips with what she has done and finds out that she is under the control of someone called the master who is an immortal Fae. The book leave you hanging and waiting for book two. What will happen to Sloane? We will just have to wait-and-see.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Homeless and constantly on the move Sloane (from what she doesnt know yet) gets saved from a hellhound one night by Caid. I reclusive guy who has his own demons (pun intended). Which in turn kicks off a series of events that lead her to a secret town - Black Box. Except being there puts her in the middle of 4 Alphas - Sheriff - Gray, Caid, brothers Paxton and Troy. Blackouts, betrayal, a man behind the scenes pulling the strings and plenty of secrets about Sloane. Some of which are particularly bloody slowly come to out. I loved the dynamic between Sloane and the Alphas. Caid & Gray seem to be Alphas that dont share, Troy juts straight up hates Sloane and Paxton was just a sweetheart. Its a full on, action packed, steamy, brilliant read and i enjoyed every minute reading it. Im looking forward to the next book now
Omega Outcast is the first installment in the Claiming Her Alphas series by Romy Lockhart. This book is an exciting fated-mate reverse harem that is slow-to-medium burn with sprinkles of steamy scenes.
Sloane Hanley is an isolated young woman fleeing her tragic past and suffering mysterious blackouts. She doesn’t have a family or friends to rely on for help. She is burdened with not knowing the devastation she leaves behind during her blackouts because she wakes up with no recollection but is always covered in blood. While in the woods, she meets a lone wolf named Caid as he saves her from a hellhound. Sloane is an omega wolf shifter and Caid is one of her fated mates, but she doesn’t know yet. He takes care of Sloane for the evening but of course, she has a blackout episode and is thrust through a portal into a hidden town.
Sloane is found wandering by the town Sheriff, Grey. He recognizes her as his fated mate. He helps Sloane by making sure she is clothed, fed, and given a bed to sleep in. Grey is patient with Sloane and helps her unravel some of the mysteries surrounding her past and her blackouts. Another blackout occurs, and Grey finds her covered in blood with 12 slaughtered rebel wolves. There are two survivors left to reveal what happened, who are also her fated mates: Troy and Paxton.
The four men in Sloane’s harem are: Caid; the eager and greedy one, Grey; the older patient one, Paxton; the empathetic sweet one, and Troy: the non-trusting brooding one. Caid, Grey, and Paxton are supportive of Sloane and want to be her mate. Troy, on the other hand, despises Sloane since she massacred his pack. He doesn’t care she is being used by a supernatural force as a weapon and it’s not her fault. He is locked away in the local jail because he wants to kill her. Yikes! He was my least favorite character in the harem and I am interested to see if his heart thaws toward Sloane.
Wow this was such an intense read! Sloane has blackouts and is not sure why they keep happening to her but she wakes up in new places but cannot for the life of her remember what happened. However she usually wakes up covered in blood and feeling sore. We start the book by her running into a hellhound and being saved by a man wielding a crossbow. Sloane does not feel comfortable but she gets the feeling that she is safe, she also can tell what the man is feeling. After a strange dream she is transported to a desert where she meets another man that takes her to a hidden city.
Throughout the book Sloane is trying to figure out what is happening to her while these men feel strong feelings towards her. Slowly she starts to learn more things about herself but there are plenty of mystery surrounding the people in the town as well as what and who Sloane actually is. Without giving too much away you really do need to read the book, there is a fast connection between Sloane and the men but she is slow to allow the connection. She is also trying to learn more about herself and unlocks some memories.
This book is full of mystery, romance and plenty of built up tension. I could not get enough of it and we are left with a killer ending that I need to grab the next book to find out what happens next. You get multiple POV's in this book and I absolutely love it!
This was a very interesting story, lots of mystery and the unknown. Sloane is fed up with her constant blackouts, not knowing is eating her up, but then she crosses paths with Caid, who gives her a helping hand. From then on her life is a bit of a whirlwind as she starts to bump into gorgeous guys who all claim to be her mate and want to help her, explaining that she is an omega with a master. This was definitely a different kind of shifter book and I enjoyed it. There are tons of information yet to come and a few things being hidden from each other. I also liked how the guys don't necessarily trust each other but work together as they have a common goal. Sloane is cautious with the guys as she's use to fending for herself, but I liked how she interacted with them. Looking forward to book 2.
A nice PNR series starter with a few unique spins. Sloane has been homeless after leaving foster care early. But she was suffering from more than that - mysterious blackouts after which she never remembered anything. Not knowing she is a shifter, an Omega, being used for nefarious purposes, she gets into Blackbox, a hidden town that can become her haven... or the place she dies. The story itself was more focused on the emotional side than the plot development in my opinion, but with PNR this happens quite often. Some of the insta-love scenes were a bit too much for me, but otherwise the whole "get together" of the RH was entertaining, and it will still be challenging to bring Troy (and Caid) on board with the multiple mates idea. The mystery about the master using Sloane remains unsolved, and there are a lot of answers missing still, to be covered in the next books.
Sloan is an omega like I've never read about before. Her life shrouded in mysteries, black outs and an obsessive need to be constantly on the run; a mysterious master that demands violence and brave mates who want to only protect and help her escape him, make this story move from place to place very quickly. A personal demon to one mate and a brother to another mate with mental health problems just adds to this crazy mix of intrigue. If you like intrigue with twists and turns, you'll enjoy this book.
Intriguing Story of a 19 year old girl who doesnt yet realise she is a shifter. We start the story realising next to nothing about the main female character but throught the story through dreams and memories we start to discover more about her and the tough life she has lived. It is a well thought out story and well written and that last scene was definitely attention grabbing. Thinking it could have been a dream but with the way the book has gone so far there are quite a few possibilites to that ending and I am looking forward to finding out what is going on!
There was always a lot of uncertainty around Sloane's life, especially when it came to these inexplicable blackouts. After she learns the reason for them by discovering who she really is, a shifter and not just any shifter but an omega, she finds herself in a hidden town with more questions than answers. When she meets Troy, Paxton, Caid and Grey, things seems to shift even more, especially when they all feel a draw toward one another. This was a great start to the Claiming Her Alphas series and I can't wait to delve into book 2!
I can’t believe how JAM-PACKED this book was with absolute AMAZINGNESS!!! The world and character building was on point and I loved (almost) all the guys from the moment they were each brought in to the story. Caid especially is soooooo drool worthy and I couldn’t stop laughing at Paxton’s antics. My heart cracked for sweet Sloane who has gone through so incredibly much in her short lifetime, most of which she’s not really even aware of. And that ending….WHAT?!?!?! Book 2 can’t come soon enough!!
What an interesting start to this new series. We meet Sloan who has no clue what she is or what happens to her. She keeps having blackouts where she comes to covered in blood. As if that is not confusing enough she meets four alphas that are essentially her mates but since she is clueless this does not go over well at all. Not all of them are on board either which makes an interesting change of pace. The road of discovering all of her secrets leads to a fun read as it takes a few surprising turns. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
2.5. I’m not sure if I’ll read the second or not. The plot was all over the place. An omega shifter who’s being controlled to attack and kill others. Odd. Some of the characters aren’t consistent. Caid, who she meets first, is super sweet and kinda shy, but when she meets him again he’s pretty much just a gruff tough guy with trust issues. And Paxton is all bubbly, no substance. The other two just seem like stereotypes. There’s a lot of plot devices used and I’m not sure how well they all mesh together.
I bought this book as I’ve read several of Romy’s other books and loved them. However although the story had merit the follow through was kind of flat. Usually a book of this length takes me a 3-4 days at most to finish but this book took me about a week and a half to finish due to having to stop and restart reading it due to losing interest. Ive bought the other books so I’m hoping the story line is better in those but overall I was kind of disappointed in this book and whilst it was ok to read it won’t be one that I’m likely to pick up often.
I loved this book! Couldn’t stop reading it. Even when I had to go to bed I stayed up late to read thinking it was worth the sleepless night. I loved the dif POV’s. The fmc starts to realize what’s happening and that’s when her development starts. She was weak and confused and lonely at the start and by the end you can definitely tell she’s starting to grow into her own. The cliff hanger sucked for sure! I can’t wait for the second book to come out.
Romy Lockhart begins her Claiming Her Alphas series with Omega Outcast. This paranormal mystery finds Sloane with missing chunks of time, and lots of blood.
This is an exciting take on an omega. When you acknowledge the tumultuous life this main character has been living, toss in a variety of unexpected paranormal creature encounters, then throw new found Alpha mates into the mix, you get a very exciting storyline…that continues into book 2 - Omega Deceived.
This book grabbed me from the moment that I started reading and I could not put it down which led to me finishing it in one sitting. It moves along at a really nice speed making for an enjoyable read. You will love these characters and want to get to know them better and you want to be there for them no matter what. The story grabs you keeping you interested and readng till the end. This is a must read book, there is no doubt about it.
Poor Sloane has no idea what she got herself into. But her blackouts stop and this is where she learns she is a shifter, a rare one at that. An omega and she has true mates. They are careful with her and try their best easing things for her. They want to help her and she might just let them help her. I loved this so much and I loved Caid, who has a pact with a demon. This book wasn't what I expected but it surprised me in a very good way.
This was such a good like palette cleansing book between what I’ve read last and hoping to read next. Once I picked Omega Outcast up I was immediately pulled into Sloane’s story and couldn’t put it down. I wanted to know what would happen next and where the story was going. The guys were great opposites Sloane and kept her and us on our toes as we read along. The story will have you guessing what is going to come next. I’m so ready for book 2
this was a great first book to this i liked almost all the characters… i’m feeling a little way towards a few situations but i think it will work with the story in the end so it didn’t make me not want to finish this, the cliffhanger to this book at the end was whattt?? i hate spoilers since that would ruin the story … no triggers in this rh i would call this a medium burn she doesn’t get with all her mates but there is steam. so now to see what happens next!
I am new to this Author, but it definitely won't be the last book I read by her it was a great start to a new series! This is a well written, quick paced story with a solid plot and interesting characters. I was thoroughly enthralled through the book. I enjoyed the concept. It's a really unique addition to the shifter world and I felt the characters were well developed. I am really looking forward to more in this series and finding more out about Sloan and her men.
Omega Outcast (Claiming Her Alphas Book 1) by Romy Lockhart wonderful story that I have loved reading. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series that I am so hooked on and can not wait to read the rest. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about wolf shifters and paranormal romance.
