THE IMP FILES: IMPlementation

Rate this book
Depressive, super-genius, gaming hermit Bradley Bothwain's life consisted of two times per week sessions with his psychiatrist, irregular visits from his county-appointed mental health evaluator, and playing a lot of the video game Dudes and Dames. Having supervised care imposed on him by the county for repeated suicidal gestures, his psychiatrist was ready to force him into involuntary committal to a mental health facility because he was not getting better. But then along came an offer, from DARPA – The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. It offered him a way to be cured of his depression. Faced with the choice of joining the DARPA program, formally known as Project IMP, or being committed to a mental institution for the rest of his life, Bradley wisely chose the DARPA program. But among the many things not told to him in the "full disclosure" prior to his agreeing to join was that he'd have two new experiences in his Telekinesis, and a person inside him who controlled it for him. What was not disclosed was what IMP Implantable Mental Partner. And when the DARPA research center was reduced to a pile of smoking rubble by another Project IMP participant, Bradley soon found himself talking to a Defense Intelligence Agency representative who gave him a new Work for the DIA, or wait for whoever destroyed the DARPA research center to come find HIM. With his Imp, named Gina, and a great deal of trepidation, Bradley once again was forced into doing something he'd rather not do, because it was better than the alternative. His Find the other Project IMP volunteers who had scattered across the country, recruit them, train them, and then go get the DARPA research center attackers.Bradley was never into personal involvement on that level and was quite sure things would end very badly. But on his side, he had his genius, Gina, a new talent and, despite his suicidal gestures, a highly refined sense of self preservation.
