The second season of is one of the most controversial TV series ever made. The first season had divided public opinion, but the second managed to divide the fans as well. But with the introduction of Catherine Schell as alien metamorph Maya, second season would be anything but forgettable. Now it's time to reassess this often-overlooked opus of classic TV science fiction.

The second season of "Space: 1999" is generally felt to be inferior to the first - different producer, changes to the cast, and a different tone. But Adrian Sherlock does a good job of going through the episodes and showing us that it's not all bad news! He even finds good things to say about episodes that I loathed, such as "Devil's Planet"! He also shows that the change in tone is not in fact as great as we might have thought, and some second season episodes such as "The Immunity Syndrome" could have been first season episodes. A must-read for fans of this series.
