I didn’t much care for the experience here. The premise is basically about an abusive boyfriend, Dan, whose girlfriend leaves him and goes on a camping trip with her friend to decompress. Dan finds her gone and goes berserk. He proceeds to rape a random woman and then follow the two girlfriends into the woods. He watches and waits and then there is just a lot of body horror and sexual violence. There is almost zero character development, which made the twist ending come across very weak, as well as another earlier pivot that happened between Abi and Stacey. There is one statement about Dan being abusive because of his father, but that was it. So all of my criticisms focus on the lack of depth to all the characters, which took an otherwise promising plot and sunk it. I understand that these extreme novellas have an audience, and there are a fair amount of good ones out there, but this was not one of them. I would highly recommend one of Sam West’s stronger works like Unseen or At Night.

I most certainly didn't see that coming!!! I really like how West forwarded the book with a letter to the reader, warning of the domestic abuse in this one. I guess that can be a real life trigger to some readers.
This is a heavily sex-fueled romp of a ride. Enjoyable to say the least

Nasty

A good read, full of nasty abuse and then turns more sinister. Sam has a way of projecting a story through her words that has you engrossed and feel as though you are there living through it. Loved the characters and Abi had to be my favourite, the way her character changed with different situations was a little freaky, but you would never of known. But a great storyline that highlights how things can progress in these situations, and how terrifying it can be. Well worth a read and i recommend, as it highlights the presence of such a horrible or action that can happen to both males and female's.

Classic Sam West

Excellent horror story from Sam West. I've not long found his books and am now working my way through them.
Dead Ahead was another well written story with a few good twists.
My only complaint is that it's too short 👍
