The Bookseller's Ghost

Rate this book
Shall you sleep tonight? Perhaps your thoughts will turn instead to a boy calling from beyond the grave? His shadow could easily walk across your bedroom wall, if you close your eyes. There won't be any explanation for it... Not in the darkest part of the night. The Bookseller's Ghost explores the spectres that haunt us. Glimpsed in dark corners, and ancient places like Calvington Hall in The House On The Fens. Or the churchyard in The Curse Of Ezekiel Marlow. An Archaeologist meets someone he knew long ago, but is all as it seems? Paranormal love also lives on in Lost On The Moor, and Ben's Tale. Children play with Imaginary Friends. Whilst other spirits exist only in memory, or the inexplicable. Reaching out, to touch the fear within us."When the candle is burning low, the wind howling beyond the window and door, it is time to read The Bookseller's Ghost. Montague Rhodes James (1862 - 1936), the master of ghost stories, was the inspiration behind the eleven tales in this collection. Also, Edgar Allan Poe (1809 - 1849), and Charles Dickens (1812 - 1870)." Eerie, dark, and chilling... The Bookseller's Ghost is the first book in The Ghosts From The Bazaar series.

Goodreads review 4* : "A lovely mix of eerie, and atmospheric ghost stories. They felt very similar to M.R. James' work and that is one of the biggest compliments I can pay it, as I am a huge fan of James. Excellent collection."Goodreads review 5* : "This is the first book I read from this author, and I loved it. Such a good book with great characters!"Perfect for fans of M.R. James; Edgar Allan Poe; Susan Hill, and Phil Rickman.

Author Bradshaw eerily sets the scene for the chills to come in this spooktacular collection of ghostly tales. Readers are swept into stories of the bizarre and macabre, giving a glimpse of a paranormal realm surrounding us.

Are the happenings real, or simply stirs of our imagination? Do the spirits reach out to calm us, or deliver a warning, or vengeance from beyond? Each story delivers a different perspective, with chilling results!

I thoroughly enjoyed this haunting mix of stories, a classic collection for this season of scary. A highly recommended read!

The Bookseller's Ghost (The Ghosts From The Bazaar) by Sharon Bradshaw is spooky, ghostly and spooky-season wonderful.

Lines that spoke to me, "When the mists come down, a man can easily lose his direction.”

"Under the eeriness of the light which comes in swathes across the water, and the curlew’s cry, strange things happen on the Fens."

I have loved stories of hauntings and the surreal since... forever. The eleven tales tucked inside are the perfect length to read one a night or a few if, like me you have trouble sleeping when the moon is full and the shadows grow longer. The immersive atmosphere includes: family values, weather events, historical architecture, mimics, superstitions, lost love and lastly, revenge from the grave.

Unfinished business as a theme in a haunting is my personal favorite, as I often I've wondered if the primary reason for a haunting is that a spirit seeks justice and will be stuck here until they have it.

I truly enjoyed all the stories, and the bonus of author notes. Add this title to your TBR if you enjoy well-written, classic-style ghost stories with a karmic twist.

The Bookseller's Ghost is a haunting short story collection by author Sharon Bradshaw. These eerie ghost stories are quite enjoyable, in part because they invoke imagery to relay fearfulness rather than shock value. Whispers in the night really can bring forth a sense of fear in an old-fashioned way that's delightfully frightening. Kudos to the author for taking this approach. Highly recommended for lovers of things that go bump in the night!

Several selections of ghost stories rolled into one book. You can read as little or as much as you can.

The Bookseller's Ghost is a lovely collection of ghost stories that achieve their effect by whispers, shivers and shadows rather than horror. The stories range from the touching to the sinister, some of the latter best read in the daylight. All linger in the mind afterwards.

Lovely short stories. In chapter 6 I wasn't keen on the character Craig, he really only thought of himself. If you do add to that story, please don't let Daisy marry him.

Interesting

The stories were different but still woven together with the common theme of a Bookseller. The scenes were described in detail, which made it easier to picture the settings. Very interesting story lines with some unexpected twists.

Spooky short stories

Not what i expected, this book is a collection of very short stories. This book would probably be a fun read in a dark Halloween night.
