In a violently dark thriller, teenage author Hudson Gauthier tells a gripping tale of cruelty, murder, and the lengths people are willing to go in order to survive. Frank Russo's life takes a turn for the worse in an unfortunate unfurling of "wrong place, wrong time" circumstances. He's surprised to find that he's being accused of armed robbery--in his nineteen years of being alive, he's never so much as touched a gun. When the jury doesn't believe him and he is sentenced to prison time, he takes a plea deal that will bring him into a private prison. Frank finds that his life is completely and utterly transformed and that the boy who walked in is not the same man that will walk out.
An exciting read! Gauthier shines light on the corruption of the criminal justice system and the humanity that is lost within. This thriller kept me on the edge of my seat and the cleverly crafted plot unfolded with genius twists. The powerlessness is truly felt with the characters and I found myself on edge the whole time. All odds are against them and the desperation for them to win grows stronger with every chapter.
