Hello, I'm Nancy Henderson and I write historical and paranormal romance...sometimes a combination of the two. Visit my website at: http://www.nancyhendersonwrites.com
The positive first: one of the rare books of this type where he is not totally handsome and she is not blonde with blue eyes and 'tiny waist'. It is not about looks only, much appreciated, because it is normal people reading these books, not blonde 19 Yr old, tiny waited girls. Storyline OK.
BUT: The book was very short. It is riddled with mistakes in spelling and missing or wrong words like: 'She wrapped his arms around him'. In 2 cases sentences made no sense at all. Yes, kindle books are cheap. But when deciding to use an e-reader I knew there wouldn't be the feel and look of books but I don't expect hastily written short stories with lots of silly mistakes. This book was not properly proof=read
I really struggled to get through this book, and I'm not entirely sure why. This should have been a quick read for me but ended up taking a couple days and quite a few breaks.
This was a pretty slow burn considering the length, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. The characters weren't very well developed, which made it hard to feel any kind of chemistry between them.
The timeline was confusing, I still don't really know how long they traveled before making it to the village. Now detail about that might have made the story easier to understand and connect to.
It could have definitely used another round of editing for a smoother read.
There is nothing more valuable than Love and Honor.
Standing Bear and Ivy met in a Jail. They did not meet but talked through the bars that separated them. They made a plan to escape and Promised to help each other to assist in finding their way home. Many Obstacles were in their way, and through it all they found what they were looking for.
I think this story was sincere and sweet. I always thought of love as very simple and like I really liked that this love story was simple. They fell in love and then love just got to be. I wish for simple love without complications and the closest I've ever every come to it was a story. I appreciated this story.
