Kennedy Ashby is 22 years old and ready to make her mark on the world. The only problem is she doesn't know where to start. When her cantankerous Uncle Harrison offers her a deal too good to refuse, Kennedy finds herself at the center of a multiple homicide investigation. With a sociopath on the loose, leaving warning labels on dead bodies, Kennedy must be careful that she doesn't get labeled 'his next victim.'
This genre isn't my usual read, as I tend to read historical fiction, but I really enjoyed it and I think I will start reading more books similar to this from now on. One of the signs of a good book is the ability to pull you in from the beginning and that is just what it did. (The prologue was super creepy.) The chapters were short, but always left you hanging and wanting more. It read like it didn't want to be put down. I always tried to guess what was going to happen next. Of course all my predictions were mostly wrong, but I am newbie to crime fiction, so I will cut myself a break. It was an extremely engaging storyline with some very unique charters, particularly Uncle Harrison. There were some characters I still have some questions about, but I feel those will be answered in the next book. If you are into crime fiction (or even if you aren't), I recommend this book. This book was also really well written especially as it is the author's first book. She definitely has a talent for writing, and I look forward to reading more.
I loved this book!! I haven’t read many murder mysteries but this one was very interesting and kept me guessing the entire time. I was very impressed with this and can’t wait to hopefully read more from the author!!
I found this book interesting and absorbing. When Jordan described every day events, like riding the train, cab rides, just walking in Manhattan, she can place your minds eye in the situation. Having been to the big apple, her story evokes a lot of memories. The story begins with the prologue depicting a murder. From you are taken on a Journey with the main characters, Kennedy, her uncle and aunt who work with her to solve the mystery of the Warning Label killer. Her family are full of wonderful eccentric people. I recommend the book highly.
5 solid stars, Loved this book!!! Great crime fiction novel that keeps you guessing, full of mystery and gets you pretty hooked!! Did not see the ending coming! Kennedy is in her young 20's, ready to start her own life of independance in a new city, only to have an unexpected detour first.. helping to track down a serial killer! Someone is killing off a certain group of people, but why? Who? Have fun trying to piece things together as Kennedy does, like me you'll probably end up wrong each time you think you might know where this will lead lol. Great character development, and characters you warm to, especially Aunt Elizabeth.
Perfect way to start off 2021! I couldn’t put it down. I loved the author’s writing style. The whole time I was reading I kept thinking... This would make a great movie! If you are looking for a thriller... this is your book!
A very good story that starts off as a cosy read about Kennedy and her Uncle Harrison which is a fraught situation of personalities. The characters are great and described with humour. As to a ‘why did they do it?’ approach, it has a good forensic emphasis for the murders they encounter. Needs a bit of reading as the script can get messy but it moves you along with gusto to the final outcome. The author is a local writer of which we value.
