Join Darla on an exciting adventure your kids will love! Darla is a young and spunky astronaut-in-training. She wants to go to Mars one day, just like her favorite doll, Astronautica. But before she does, she will need to learn to navigate through relatable scenarios that so many kids face on a daily basis. Written in a "Choose Your Own Story" format, your kids can help Darla through her day by making choices for her! There are eight stories in one, so the fun never ends! From the creators of What Should Danny Do? and the Power to Choose Series, your kids are sure to love this all-new, exciting adventure featuring a lovable lead character learning about her Power to Choose!
I really wanted to enjoy this book, but after reading through it, I wish I hadn’t invested the time into it. I feel like there is enough the characters are not dynamic enough. For example, although Darla chooses to do something she shouldn't doesn't mean her choices dictate her sister's actions. Hannah is just as much responsible for her own choices as Darla is. I felt every time Darla had a bad day it ended with her feeling her sister was mean because of her choices. Hannah could have easily chosen to react to her sister's misbehavior maturely, but instead she stooped down to Darla’s level. There was really no payoff as they both just fight over and over again and they both end up having bad days. The message to kids is kinda confusing.
I bought this book to read to my niece, but I read it and absolutely love it! Yes, I'm 27 but this little girl Darla is so like me it's uncanny! I love anything that sparkles and everything about space—rockets, shooting stars, galaxies, aurora borealis/australis... you name it! The artwork is so adorable I just want to look at it all the time! I want to hang up each page and just decorate my wall. But enough of the cuteness, the lessons are second-to-none! I love the way the child gets to choose what to do after each scenario given. Choose a different choice and you'll get a whole new story! Brilliant!!!
Loved this story! It was a choose-your-own adventure story which a lot of students would enjoy reading. You can read this book many times and tell a different story each time it is read.
I didn't really like the breaking of the fourth wall at the beginning of the book. There's so much text on every page this would be better for older kids, but when you actually read the text it's quite childish, so I wouldn't want to read it to older kids? So I don't feel this is appropriate for any age...
I often say that books give children the opportunity to practice who they want to be in the world, and today's recommended series gives them not only numerous opportunities to practice, but also a chance to "live" the effects of their choices! These books are picture book versions of those Choose Your Own Adventure books (which I LOVED as a child), and are also perfect for fostering positive character traits in your children. I'm talking about "The Power to Choose" series by Ganit and Adir Levy! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Each book in the "Power to Choose" series features a child who has the power to choose both his actions and how his day turns out. Every few pages brings the reader to a choice the character has to make, with an option we know will turn out well and an option that the character may not want to make. Each choice then has logically expected results (for example, when Danny makes a choice to play cooperatively with his brother, their mom decides to take them to the park because they're having such good days, but when he instead knocks his brother's race car set down, the boys have to clean up the mess and miss out on park time). And at the end of each story combination, Danny and Darla reflect on how their choices determined the course of their days, and what they did well, and what they could do differently next time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We purchased What Should Danny Do? on our own, and we thank Elon Books for gifting us What Should Darla Do? and What Should Danny Do? School Day, as well as the cape, poster, and stickers. All thoughts and opinions are our own! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The "Power to Choose" series is fun, educational, and addictive in the best way possible, reminding us all that we have the power to determine our futures rather than live them passively. You can bet we're going to get our hands on the upcoming What Should Danny Do? On Vacation as soon as possible! Stay tuned tomorrow for a giveaway— 3 lucky winners will each win a Danny book and cape of his/her choice!
My daughters loved the What Should Danny Do? duo, but this one is definitely their favorite. Not only does it feature a GIRL with PINK hair, but it shows her doing things they too like to do. Whether it's because my daughters identify with Darla more or because the illustrations are just so great, this one beat out What Should Danny Do? by a landslide! My 2yo is just as enamored with it as my 4yo, though the 2yo loves the illustrations more and the 4yo loves the storyline. She loves to giggle mischievously and pick the "wrong" choices to see what happens.
I highly recommend this for all your kiddos ages 2-10.

What Should Darla Do? is a cute, interactive book about a young astronaut-in-training who discovers she can use her own “Power to Choose” thoughtfully. The book is written in a "Choose Your Own Story" format so kids can help Darla make decisions throughout her day. There are 8 different overlapping scenarios in which readers, depending on their choices, help make for Darla’s outcomes. Along the way, the reader with Darla work through common challenges most kids face. For example, it questions if it’s okay for her to take something that doesn’t belong to her without asking? Darla uses her power of choice to decide and there are two outcomes that are possible depending on the page number chosen by the reader. There are great benefits to the book including how it helps kids understand how their choices impact themselves and others. It also helps children make sense of cause and effect while encouraging impulse control and critical thinking. I love how this book incorporates teachable scenarios to children who may have a difficult time making good choices. This book is part of Ganit and Adir Levy’s Power to Choose Series. I highly recommend this book.
These books support early decision making skills for young learners in the classroom. Darla helps develop cognitive strategies for reframing and thinking through decisions as well as embodied learning about wrongs like 5 finger discounts, bullying and lying. Choosing a path in their own writing is fun and engages learners to share, giggle and wonder!

I love this premise! Helping kids see the clear paths for the choices they make, and how the paths change when their choices change. Beautiful, sweet illustrations and a solid story. The completionist in me needed to go back and read each possible outcome…so it was a little tedious that way. But that’s my own fault :P
This book is a great tool to help kiddos understand that they can turn their day around at anytime. In the same way, they can choose to turn a good day into a rough one. This book has eight different endings for readers to discover.
Love the concept however my daughter wanted to reach every ending and we would then forget which choice we made to get where. Now we weren't even making choices we actually would choose we were just trying to find the alternate endings. lol
The kids love this book, just as they loved What Should Danny do? A great book for making choices. Easy for the kids to pick the choice(s) and see what happens.
