Almost three thousand years after an extinction level event on Earth, mankind seeks to regain its former glory, in a new world where magic and technology collide.

The habitable lands settle after the happenings in New Cali and their people join Sparo as one of their newest realms. And Laney Herder has settled into her Great Mother role as the co-ruler of Sparo, accepting both her role in the world and herself as her abilities continue to grow along with her power.

The location of the writings of the magics of the Great Wizards of the Before Times has been ascertained, and an expedition from Sparo is assembled to embark upon the most ambitious undertaking of their time.

Laney leads the epic search for the faraway land of the D.C. to find the mythic Library of Congress to finally complete Sparo's reclamation of the knowledge of the Before as Sparo forges a new path forward.

A wonderful wrapping up of the Techromancy Scrolls.

A simple quest to seek the Library of Congress. But when has anything Laney undertaken gone simply.
New lands, new people, new adventures. Erik writes another brilliant story.

Incredible growth!

I never wanted it to end, but if it has to, then I guess it couldn't have ended any better. A well wrapped up story with as beautiful an end as the beginning was!

Epic!

What a stunning conclusion to an amazing series. The characters always surprise and never fail to entertain. I love these characters and have so enjoyed watching them grow and mature and to be able to come along on their amazing journeys.

The saga of Great Mother Laney has to eventually come to an end. There is always a sadness when a series ends, and although there are more to the story as offshoots, it was this original character that really led it all the way through. Her devotion to her loved ones and Sparo is what showcases the best of the human heart. Meeting the Disciples and The Followers on their latest expedition is the last of the survivors met before they try to find the Library of Congress. This is the last of the Before that Laney has been hungry for and wants to see through. When the interaction turns violent, there is always a way to see us through - together. With the help of her family and friends, Great Mother Laney leaves her world in the best place possible for their brightest future.

I guess I'm on my own on the ending? I will say that the ending of this was a respectable ending to this journey but no where I feel needed to be as there are still so many unfinished business especially with the the rouge ex-duchess... I'm hoping this was a vision of the future and that the author will grant us another book in this series as a surprise further down the line or a spin off like with the Valkyrie Chronicles.

I'm not giving up hope that there will be another but if this is the final end... as sadden as I am, I can live with it.

A Fitting End

There are... no words to describe how I loved this series. Hell I did animations for it. But this final book... it was from what I think is a great and fitting end for our heroes. My heart is filled with love and sadness as this is the end of a series. Please do yourselves a favor and read this series. It’s amazing and creative and will forever in my top favorite series I have ever read

A Grand Finale

Sweet but “just a little” short, this was an quiet but amazing end to a great series. From beginning to end, the adventures of Laney and her family have matured since her ordinary beginnings and it truly shines in this novel. While I would love to see more, even after seven books, not all is explained nor neatly wrapped up but that leaves more imaginations of “what happens next” which is a good thing! Highly recommend this finale and this series

The start of the book was a bit too sweet and sentimental, the author seemed to be trying a bit too hard to make it cute and at times the dialogue is quite repetitive.
Things improve once they got their big expedition going and it was a much more enjoyable read, although there were a couple of occasions when the author couldn’t resist piling on the schmaltz. Also I’m not sure about the ending, the epilogue felt like a bit of an anticlimax, although I don’t really know how I would have ended the series.
If possible I would have given 3.5 stars.

Wonderful close to an epic tail. I am glad there are spin offs as I really did not want to see the story end. I know all stories have to have an ending but this has been one of my favorites. There is not intrigue in this story, it is really a slow burn adventure with an underlaying tone of melancholy as the story of Laney the chicken herder draws to a close and passes the torch to next generation.

Cute & sweet & repetitive
This last chapter (sans spinoffs) Hits all the same notes. And then hits them again. And then again and again. If this were not the final book I think this is where I would have dropped the the series.
I could swear that 90% of the dialog was just copy pasted from the last few books.
I loved this series going into it, and the plot & conclusion were fine, but the character interactions became unbearable a wile back. This is some lazy ass writing.
They say show don't tell, but this book tells you how cute it is over and over until it really isn't.
And yet elements of sweetness endure.

A non ending

So this was a bit of a non ending. Don't get me wrong it was a good story but it leaves quite a few loose ends. I get the feeling it was left deliberately open to allow for more books but even as a "soft" ending it's a bit disappointing

Hmmm...

Ok so not too bad of an ending. But I would have liked to see some more. Instead of just how it ended... sighs
