For 3 million yen, an unusually high sum, young Tôru Igarashi, a student, accepted a six-month odd job in an orphanage deep in the mountains, to take care of children and help with chores. interview. There he meets Sakurako, a 14-year-old teenager and the group of children, a little suspicious but nonetheless full of energy. Everything seems to be going well until after dark, this joyful atmosphere becomes unhealthy and extremely bloody! Far from the world, Tôru's nightmare has only just begun. Children become incredible machines to kill, slaughter, butcher ...
After trudging through the below-average first part, I jumped into the second volume without wasting any more time—hoping it would redeem the story somehow. I’ll admit, the final twist did catch me off guard, but not in a “wow” kind of way. It felt like a desperate attempt to justify all the gore and shock value the story had been throwing around.
The ending itself? Pretty much a “WTF” moment—but not in a good sense. It didn’t excite me, nor did it leave any lasting impression. It just… happened. Felt flat, honestly. Considering how intriguing the premise and setting could have been, it really needed more depth and thought behind it.
The main character’s story especially lacked emotional weight or development. I kept waiting for some deeper insight or growth, but it never came. There was so much potential, but it just wasn’t explored.
All in all, it feels like a decent attempt that could have actually been good—if only the story had been fleshed out more and given the time it needed to breathe.
It's fine! I liked the ending, I just it had more set up. There's a lot of things that feel like they're suppose to be call backs but in the end just kinda fall flat.
I would have liked to see Tooru slipping up more, not just having him suddenly know how to dissect bodies. Or see Yamada more then once before revealing he's the scary bad guy!
Mostly I think this would have been better and scarier with more build up and longer pay off. The idea of this generational child torture/labor camp isn't the worst! If we saw more of it before the twist I would have enjoyed it more.

This manga wasn't for me to begin with, but the ending really wasn't for me.
The violence and gore continues. And when it involves kids- and especially to such extent- it's too disturbing.
I can't say I was a fan of the twist- of the main character already having a backstory at the facility (it would also explain the caretakers feelings) and him being a murderous psychopath. It completely undoes any of the sympathy of him "helping" out the kids.
I am happy that there was at least a kind-of happy ending. But this story just wasn't for me and I genuinely found it upsetting.
