Rebel Skulls MC #2

Watercolor Skulls

Lily

My world consisted of a web of tangled lies. It was show room perfect, an illusion. One I wanted desperately to escape.

Then fate intervened and revealed something new.

Even now I’m not sure how it happened. That the fates aligned so perfectly as to give me a second chance. I had fallen hard and fast and just when I thought my life was over it exploded in color and love and happiness.

A world full of Skulls with dark ink, sharp tongues, and wicked minds.

I had finally found my home.

If only my father hadn’t found it too.

Dan

My world had been good. No better than good. It was great. But it was lonely.

Then I made a wish for something more.

Amazingly the universe came through for me. I fell hard and fast. Suddenly things that seemed impossible became possible. My life exploded in warmth and sunshine.

A world full of big brown eyes, soft lips, and sweet sighs. She reminds me of home.

Her father thinks he can take her away from me. I guess he’s never met a Skull.

We protect what’s ours…and Lily is most definitely mine.

This one was interesting and kept my focus. I liked the writing style. The abundance of surprises and coincidences weren't my jam, though. That's why this is between 3 and 4 stars read for me. Especially the final surprise, at the end of the book, it was actually ridiculous 😂😂. I was rolling my eyes so hard, like seriously, let's not get into this soap-opera type of plot devices.

But overall, I enjoyed this book, I even read in the middle of the night since I was so curious 😂🤪.

For such a long book, the pace was fast. Everything was insta between the main characters, but it's fine. It fitted their personalities and situation. Since they both were lonely and just waited for each other 🥹. Life just threw them together. No, really, I do think they were soulmates 🥰.

There are some second characters POV sometimes, not very often. It was weird, just out of nowhere. But it was interesting to read their thoughts as well, bringing some clarity.

There was tension, there was drama, there was trauma 😭😭 and a lovely HEA.

This is not a particularly dark romance, but it touches dark themes, especially SA and suic1de. So mind your triggers!!

The MC part is very light. They are more like brotherhood, but they do pack the right stuff when their loved ones are in danger / need rescue.

What to expect
- age gap
- no V, no manhohohoooes
- insta lust, insta love, etc., he really was her person; loved how protective he becomes almost instantly
- found family (friends and... well, I don't want to spoil, so you'll have to read to find out all the twists)
- 🔥 times, too rushed sometimes, for me it was fine; I stayed for the plot and their relationship 🥰🥰
- HEA

I might go back and read Jesse's book. She was a nice, strong, empathic character in this book. I liked her loyalty. So I might give it a try. There's a lot to unpack with this MC club. It looks like most of them went through all kind of trauma and assaults 🥲. So, even though the current book could be read as a standalone, I might go back and read the first book. 👀🤷‍♀️

""You must think I’m a goddamn lunatic.”
“No.” I place my hand on the side of his face, pulling it toward me. “I don’t think you’re a lunatic at all.”
“Are you sure? Because I feel like one. Goddammit, Lily, I’m so fucking high on you right now.”"

Fuuuuuck.
This was so fucking wonderful and Heartbreaking.
I don’t think I was able to stop crying for a single chapter of this book.

Check TWs before reading, PLEASE!
There is so much in this book about SA and suicide and it’s harrowing even for someone without those triggers. This was a beautiful book, but no book is worth your mental health.

I loved this book to pieces.
It had everything I wanted.

The plot was harrowing and hard to read at times because the tears were literally blurring the pages.
The relationship was fucking beautiful and so loving and helped heal so many.
The sex was hot and dirty and the dirty talk was fucking smoking hot.

I just loved this.
I was on the fence about reading the last book of the series, but I’m just not ready to give these characters up yet so I will definitely be picking it up.

I’m so glad I decided to continue the series. This was so worth all the tears and blocked nose.

Oh how beautifully written this story is.

It tells the story of a daughter, void of the love of her family, yet surrounded by wealth. Of a daughter who finds an amazing friendship with one of her father's victims. It's the story of a daughter who hits rock bottom, but then finds the strength to fight her way back, and on the way finds love and acceptance within a motorcycle club. Finally, it us the story of a daughter who seeks revenge and retribution for those who have suffered, and finally finds the peace she deserves.

The way LM Terry writes is stunning, and I would certainly recommend this book. I would also suggest reading Sugar and Skulls first.

Wonderful story!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: fated love, heroine in peril
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

After being conflicted about the previous story I'm so glad I gave this one a chance - it was wonderful! This was really a story about fate and all the pieces falling exactly where they needed to be despite the arduous and sometimes painful journey. Both the MCs were great. Lily was just the sweetest and brought huge smiles to my face. Dan was everything she needed and they fully completed the other. The storyline was great and moved quickly. Looking forward to continuing the series!

cheesy and needs proofreading

I think the plot line rushed between Dan and Lilly too fast. Also there’s a lot of grammatical and convention errors that need to be fixed. Like your instead of you’re used, comma splices everywhere, awe used incorrectly, etc. I think this book could be a real gem if things were fixed.

Seeing What's Really Important

I knew she saw the world differently.

She looks past the exterior and homes in on what lies beneath. Like the way she talked with my mother. She didn’t hide the fact that my mother didn’t remember me. She rolled with the punches. She introduced me to my mother as her handsome boyfriend and my mother agreed. She thought I was handsome as her son, and she thought I was handsome when I wasn’t her son. It made me feel good, like my mother still saw me and I guess she did… she does. Is one better than the other? Not really. It’s all how you look at it.

Then there’s Jackson. She didn’t shy away from him when he broke her painting. She made sure he knew he was more important than any material thing. Then she went above that and took time out of her day to embrace Jackson’s restlessness. She marveled in it and showed him how to turn it into something productive. She made an impact on him.

She sees the world differently because she knows what it’s like on the other side. She said so herself. That she felt stuck on one side of the glass, watching others live. She’s so good at it, she notices things others overlook.

I don’t like the scene were Jesse and Lily are dancing to show her ex what she miss out on. And then Dan fingering her in the bar to make the ex see her orgasm so he can see. For someone who is possessive he shouldn’t have done that. And she didn’t want to she said only you, only you get to see me like this. He should have punched him and left. They all already know he missed out on Lily. That show they did left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

The book went down hill after that which sucks because that was already at 80%. Like 50 more plot twists happened and it was way too much. Especially since so much had already happened.

I loved reading Dan and Lily's story but I fucking knew what was going to happen around halfway through... I don't know why this happens very often lately... Still, it was an awesome story, very emotional and I'm sure I'll read more books by L.M. Terry.

This author and series are what you would call a hidden gem . When I read Jesse’s book I was amazed . I couldn’t put it down and it shattered my heart.

This installment is not nearly as dark but definitely has some dark elements . This is about Lily who is a Senators daughter but all is not as it seems . From the outside it looks like Lily has a privileged life but on the inside it is an ugly life . Her life is not her own .

She sets out and finds her other half and begins to live life but not only is she tied to her father by blood and his sins , she also has the mental ties she must overcome .

I love the Skulls . They teach Lily how to live and show her what real love is . The hero of the story is so lovable and we saw him in the first book . Big Dan looks to be happy but he is lonely . That is until Lily comes walking into his tattoo shop.

This book broke my heart and then put it back together again . I am definitely excited to see what this author has in store for us .

whoa!

I will be honest, I found this book because of a sassy tiktok, and just jumped into it.

It was not at all was I expected, and god I mean that in the best way possible.

Between the out loud laughs, the parts that made me giggle like a school girl, and the tears. Hands down my favorite book of the year!

Watercolor Skulls is a sometimes gritty, sometimes sweet book that is an interconnected standalone within The Rebel Skulls Series. I loved the characters, the storyline, and how the book evolves. If you enjoy M/C romance, age gaps, instalove, an interesting plot, lots of emotion, a strong Alpha, great interaction with a host of entertaining side characters, and a heroine that finds her strength, this one will satisfy! 5 Stars!

I read book 1 over 600 books ago so I don’t really remember it but I think this is like an interconnected standalone so it was fine.

I don’t even know what I want to rate this book or how to review it. It was good and I enjoyed it but it was weird?

The fate stuff was all really good and I love instalove. But it was like too much convenient fate if that makes sense. Like Lily’s connection to the Rebel Skulls and how she ended up there out of anywhere else was already really coincidental but the thing thrown in the end about Jenny’s baby was a bit of a stretch too far in my opinion.

Also I found it sooo bizarre how touchy feely other characters were. One scene Lily is throwing up after being triggered and Jesses husband Dirk (the h&H from book 1) is holding her around the waist telling her he’s got her. Then after this Jesse is driving them home and she sits on Raffes lap in the passenger seat of the car while he comforts her. Raffe has a wife Rachel. But no one seems to think this is odd behaviour.
I don’t care about the circumstances I would never sit on another man’s lap, yeah ok she’s traumatised but she could have sat beside him and he could put his arm around her. Idk if I’m making a bigger deal out of this than it needs to be but I just thought it was weird and disrespectful to everyone’s partners.
Dan was jealous and possessive and threatened people for looking at her but then was ok with his friends being touchy and really friendly with her it didn’t match up.

Dual pov
Age gap h25/ H 40s? I don’t think his exact age is said.
Fmc on the run/hiding from her sex trafficker senator dad and his arranged marriage for her.
Suicide attempt
Motorcycle club
h has only been with her ex/ H not a manwhore
Safe no owd
HEA
Married and just found out they’re pregnant when they’re about to set off on a month long road trip/honeymoon.
Would say HFN because there’s no proper future epilogue but with the fate stuff I think it’s safe to say they’ll live HEA

So after reading Sugar and Skulls I didn’t think that the second book could live up to the first. Well i was proven wrong quickly. I was thrilled to learn that this book would be about Dan. I loved him in the first book and I could feel that he was lonely despite being gruff, tough, and involved with his biker family. Also, wow he is one of the most protective, hot, and possessive characters. I don’t exactly know why I felt this way because I’ve read characters that pulled crazier stunts over a heroine, but it was just the way he was written and portrayed with Lily. Lily was sweet, but not ridiculous or dumb. She was tough in a different way than Sugar/Jesse. Some of the coincidences in this book are borderline too much, I get that this was all about fate or a specific person bringing this family together - but it was almost a bit too cheesey. The author pulled it off by the addition of darker elements and great writing. I cannot wait for the next installment. This is one of my favorite new authors and series.

Thank goodness I was reading this at home. I busted out crying near the end and it really hit me emotionally. I got so wrapped up in this that it just made me feel so much.

This is a very emotional read. Again lots going on and the showcase of evil is on full blast. There are some really sick people out there and I’m glad that at least here they paid for it.

Love binds us all and together we can be strong. Very very very emotional touching great read

Book 3 off my “clear out my TBR that I filled bc I read a 3 second quote on Booktok”
Meh. Didn’t love that it had about 7 different points of views the book flipped through.
Best quote of the book:
“Where did this man come from? He says the most thought provoking, deep things. It's not normal.” Though I don’t think she meant to be funny.

Lily & Dan

These two had some tension and chemistry as soon as they met at the tattoo shop and I loved seeing such an intimate moment between them that wasn’t sexually driven. Lily has been through so much in her life with her father and fiancé that was traumatic. She may have not gotten the worst of it but it was still awful and affected her to her core. It was hard to read her struggles with the aftermath of getting out and the fear of getting sucked back in.

I commend LM Terry for diving head first into sexual trauma and human trafficking. Such a heavy topic but the author addressed it very tactfully and with a lot of Grace yet kept it authentic too so you connect with Lily on a much deeper level as she works on her healing. Dan was a surprise to me but also not. I’m ways he was the typical biker that is possessive and obsessed with his girl. Those moments will get you swooning so hard for him. He also was sweet too and it was hard to also watch him struggle with what Lulu was going through.

The Rebel Skull MC was a fun crew to also get to know no appreciated some chapters in their POV in the beginning when Lily first showed up. It was different and I like how it fit together so well. And that crew is funny and definitely livened everything up.

PLEASE READ TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING THIS BOOK

I LOVE THIS BOOK. It truly became one of my favorites and I can’t stop thinking about it, the hole story it’s so harsh and beautiful at the same time, the author knew how to touch different sensible topics but she did it beautifully and with such care. All this sensible topics for a romance book, fiction specially were so thoughtful and talked with such care I would recommend this books to anyone starting with something in romance more dark and heavy (obviously check trigger warnings first) the way the author gave the support every character needed I love it. The FMC it’s so understandable and the way her growth is through the story it’s amazing. The MMC it’s literally what she says he is, a rock, the support she need and everything for her growth. The found family it’s truly amazing with each of their characters, their angels and demons, the ways the love it’s truly amazing. Would definitely recommend this book and will keep reading this series.
This may be one of the best books I’ve read this year.

obsession wrapped up in a book

This book gave me all the feels. I cried at parts of this book (which isn’t normal) it is such a healing and amazing story I love Lily and the strength she shows, I love Dan for the possessive caring he has and the way they just come together is absolutely amazing
There are some topics that not everyone will enjoy but this book is so healing and cleansing that I’m obsessed! This is literally obsession disguised as a book.
I got this book and read because of a TikTok from the author I saw and let me tell you something that video doesn’t do it justice! This book is everything (I know repetitive) it was everything I needed and more!
Definitely top 5 reads of this year

Overall I enjoyed this, there were just some aspects that I didn’t love. I really liked the beginning but when we meet Dan I feel like their relationship just happened soooo fast. Especially for someone like Lily I just found it uncharacteristic and I just wish they had a little more time to develop a relationship. I also felt like the scenes when lily went back to her fathers house were just a little weird? For lack of a better word. The vibe just felt weird like the fact that the men showed up and she was back at the house in literally one page. And the way they all acted there seemed weird like why was her dad not freaking out and why were they all so chill? this was also not really the MC type I was expecting, it was more like they happened to ride motorcycles than a MC book but whatever. Idk somethings were a little off but again, overall I enjoyed it

What a fantastic follow up to a unique bunch of characters! We get the romance of the hero sand heroine but also see a fair bit of dirk and Jesse and still more with Raffe and Rachael. While the evil that is Lily’s Senator Dad is unraveling we have other storylines intermingled in the background. The theme of Dragonflies and love is throughout. It is sort of whimsical with a dark twist. Everything came full circle which can only really happen in fiction! It was fun to read always returning to the family you pick being loyal and loving.🙃

After the first intense book I was excited to read the next instalment in the series and it did not disappoint. I’m so glad Big Dan found his person, he was so kind to Jesse and he deserved so much love. I liked the characters POV’s and having Jesse and Kirk was amazing.

Stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶 🌶 🌶
Trope - MC, age gap.

This book has difficult discussions around mental health and suicide. As well as abuse.
I absolutely love Lily's character.. she grew up with wealth and the family that look like they had everything but no love. After surving her fall she decides to follow the plan her and her friend made and escape.
I loved Big Dan in sugar and skulls and so happy he's the MMC in this..you get to know Dan so much more in this book.
I love how much you get of the characters in this book.
The link between Lily and Raffe was good and well written.

The storyline was decent, very emotional (check trigger warnings on this one for sure) and I liked how things came full circle in a twist of fate/destiny type way. The romance portion though was very instalove, moved really quick and had some cheesy dialogue.
