A guide to the Ayurvedic personality types, or doshas, with psychology-based advice on cultivating balance, from the author of The Ayurvedic Self-Care Handbook
At the core of Ayurveda is an understanding that we are all made of the same materials—the five elements of ether (space), air, fire, water, and earth —and how you look, think, and feel can be traced back to your unique proportion of these elements at any given time.
This is your dosha, the true essence of who you are.
Knowing your dosha is the key to deeper self-knowledge, easier relationships, and a happier future. In The Seven Ways of Ayurveda, you’ll discover which type fits you best.
Then, you’ll identify your innate strengths (and their “shadow sides”); whether you’re out of balance (and what to do); how your unique type approaches work, love, travel, and more; and how to forge true, mutual understanding with friends and loved ones whose doshas may differ. When you know yourself better, you can take better care of yourself—and others, too.
I found the book as a great source in the path of knowing oneself. Sometimes I do things that I have no idea why, but Sarah Kucera has broken down those small things into also how my body reacts to the weather for example and finding the balance of oh is summer and that is why I feel emotionally this way and my body craving specific fruits or veggies. I will recommend the book for sure to everyone in the path of healing not only your body for your mind and soul. I gifted a copy to someone new to ayurveda and she found it extremely helpful for her mental health.
This is a great book if you want to figure out your Dosha. I've sifted through at a lot of books on Ayurveda and was never able to draw a conclusion before, so I have to say that this book was extremely helpful. It was also an enjoyable read. I like the author's writing style and for those of you who love the feel of a real book and one that has great aesthetics, the hardcover is a wonderful choice. Kudos to the publisher. They really know how to create beautiful books! I also have this author's other book, The Ayurveda Self-Care Handbook, which is similar in quality and is chock-full of information on Ayurveda!
It's a great, rather, amazing introduction to the entire concept of Ayurveda. Yes, Ayurveda is all about healing, but this book touches the most basic form of it- Dosha. However, I must admit, there are certain biases for some parts such as defining a certain dosha as a certain trait; example, a hair color but the reader may hail from a country without that particular hair color, but personal sentiments aside, overall, it's an amazing reference book when introducing oneself to the entire concept.
I learned so much from The Seven Ways of Ayurveda. This book explains Ayurveda in simple terms. You can find out your dosha and what that means. Ways to stay in balance or acquire balance are also explained. Learn about your health and personality using ancient wisdom. I recommend this book for beginners wanting to learn about the practice.
Excellent Ayurveda reference book explaining in details about the doshas. Along with ways to bring your dosha back into balance. I will be referencing this book often.
This book is a nice introduction to Ayurveda. It helps the reader identify which dosha or combination of doshas makes up their personality. Your dosha is a combination of elements that is the essence of your true self. Once you determine your dosha, there is lots of useful information in regards to how to use those strengths in work, love, and life. The author states at the beginning of the book that this is only a cursory examination of Ayurveda. There is so much information in this book about the different combinations of doshas and how they relate to life. It was almost too much information. Once I identified my dosha, I read only the parts of the book related to it. I guess the next step would be to find a book about that dosha and go from there.
This book is recommended for anyone with little or no knowledge of Ayurveda. This introductory book is easy to understand and will help the reader discover their dosha or doshas. It was easy for me to identify my dosha with this book and I look forward to further reading on the subject. Thank you to NetGalley and The Experiment for the arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
