The vast farmland known as the Homestead has many heroes, but there are two that most people know by name and reputation. Tess is a brilliant alchemist, but her genius comes with a lonely, surly shell of her own making. The Battlebitch is a magnificent warrior, but her ravenous hunger for pleasure makes her impulsive and reckless. The only thing the two seem to have in common is that they’re completely aimless.
They make an unlikely pair, with one woman desperately wanting to keep the world at arm’s length and the other relentlessly trying to embrace it. Now they need to learn how to respect each other’s boundaries while they work together...all while Tess tries to stay one step ahead of a past that she hoped she left behind.
Sometimes funny, sometimes erotic, but always offering an adventure, Rise of the Battlebitch tells its story in a world that's joyously queer. Check your closet for gnolls, pull up a mug of your finest ale, and enjoy a fantasy tale from the eyes of two charming leads!
I'm a queer enby writer (he/him or they/them) that made his self-publishing debut in December of 2020 with Rise of the Battlebitch.
I primarily focus on queer literature that touches on a variety of themes. Humor and romance are a constant, as well as some sexier and more intimate moments, but my eventual goal is to build upon the Battlebitch world until it's a proper epic universe for readers to engage in.
A lighthearted fantasy world that's allowed to be joyously queer is needed now more than ever.
An erotic and whimsical fantasy story, with humour but also with a surprisingly sweet friendship at it's core. Kindle Unlimited. https://www.amazon.com/Rise-Battlebit...
So I was looking for something different just to get out of my own head, to stop me from taking things so seriously- and this definitely fit the bill.
Our eponymous hero, BattleBitch as she is known, is a Dura (I figured sort of like a more human Orc with great strength and brawn) who is a large bulking mass of muscle and breasts, but also trans with G!P - which she utilizes often in very detailed - yet surprisingly hot ways.
Our other MC is Tess, a cat-woman, again of mostly humanoid stature but with many feline features that she covers in layers of clothes and goggles. There are a few drawings inside to allow you to depict the characters well, which really added to my enjoyment.
Tess is brusque and rude, closed off and a loner. She's an apothecary that travels the land helping heal stupid humans and their animals alike, never getting attached and barely tolerating others. She knows BattleBitch (also called Kreth) from a few heroic run ins as their paths have crossed, since BB is also constantly on the move with her heroics and bedding the townsfolks and is Tess' complete opposite in every way.
They form an unlikely team of healer/potion master and hero, together setting out on greater more dangerous adventures, and Tess learning to put up with the roguish yet endearing BB, and BB in turn becoming more understanding to Tess, as each reconcile they the only true friend each has in the world.
Tess considers herself asexual, although certain plot lines suggest she's more demi-sexual. Dangers lurk, and more ludicrous scenarios ensue, but it's just a fun hot hilarious romp with a setting that is very unique.
An enjoyable take on the high fantasy genre filled to the brim with charming characters, quirky humor, fantastic worldbuilding, and refreshingly nuanced ace representation. I can't wait to see what's next for BB and Tess.
Rounding up because it was a lot of fun and tried something new.
It was a series of adventures with an overarching narrative that slowly peeked through then evebtually took over. I found the pattern familiar to retro anime's where the characters are kind of doing their own thing for a bit (building the world for us), then they focus on a problem.
This was a slow burn romance between the two leads with lots of sex scenes. Battlebitch is horny and Tess is asexual so the scenes are not between them. I appreciated the different take. The author gave us lots of time to see their relationships budding and did a decent job separating sex from love.
This was an indie novel so there were a bit of hiccups with typos or in one case a reveal that happened a little too early on. I was able to overlook this because I was having a lot of fun.
If you want something a little different and easy to read I highly recommend. I will note that Battlebitch does have male genitals so that you can make the best possible decision.
Content: I'm unsure if the MC is a trans woman or if this is some Omegaverse-type story, but just be aware it features G!P (girl penis.)
I loved this!! Kreth the Battlebitch is a jovial and upbeat Daru--part giantess and part absolute horndog. Her one true love is adventuring and being a classic hero to the folks of the Homestead, and then being 'rewarded' with an endless supply of evening companions of all genders who can't keep their hands off the muscular warrior woman.
Tess is an introverted, asexual Felpin (part cat) and a highly intelligent alchemist. She's very secretive about her appearance, always wrapping her face in silk and wearing goggles with lights to express her emotions. When Tess and the Battlebitch become firm friends, despite the odds, more of Tess' secrets start to unravel. Why is there a bounty on her head? And how far will Kreth go to protect her??
A super fun, hilarious yet downright erotic, adventure of epic proportions (pun intended.) The epilogue left it open for a sequel, and God, I really hope there is one someday!
DNF at 60%. Sometimes funny, sometimes erotic, but always offering an adventure, Rise of the Battlebitch tells its story in a world that's joyously queer. UNTRUE The battle witch has a COCK. How is that queer?!?!?!?! I'm actually really mad about this. Maybe more than mad actually. I feel like I could rant for a long time about it. At first I thought oh maybe its a strap-on and that's fine....but it wasn't. Sorry I'm not happy at all.
This wasn't what I expected and was a lot raunchier than I thought. The description didn't give a huge amount to go off but this was surprisingly enjoyable. The characters are complete opposites and honestly I love that about them.
This book reads like a cis boy's litRPG wet dream. I powered through the first 80 pages feeling a mixture of incredulity and outrage. Incredulity because so many of the sapphics I follow have clearly enjoyed this, and outrage because it portrays an intersex character with none of the sensitivity you'd get from a book like Middlesex or Scatter. It's marketed as a queer book (and maybe it is - I don't own the label) but let's be clear that there are 3 protagonists here: Battlebitch, Tess, and Battlebitch' non-detachable G!P.
You could summarise Battlebitch' whole personality as: Baywatch model + steroids + G!P + mind of a teenage boy.
But here's the thing, after about 80 pages, we also learn that Battlebitch has the mind of a very nice teenage boy. And true to form, she ends up falling for her demi-sexual, totally covered up, totally flat-chested, far-too-intellectual best friend.
So, points in favour: Battlebitch is bisexual, although all the explicit intimate scenes are with women. Battlebitch likes older women (no hair dye in sight) and is totally respectful of her demi-sexual best friend, who isn't sexualised in any way.
Points against - this book feels like it was written for the liberal male gaze. I can think of several friends who would really enjoy it, but all of them are cis heterosexual men.
Adorably queer. Beautifully diverse. Uproariously cheeky. Wonderfully heartfelt. Sweetly romantic. There are a lot of ways I could describe Rise of the Battlebitch to you, but I think you get the idea. This was a fun read that I lingered over, enjoying my visits to Homestead when I needed them most. I smiled as much as I swooned, and if I shed a few tears, they were happy ones.
Drace Domino twists and flips the usual heroic fantasy dynamics, opening the tale with a ribald introduction of a towering, musclebound warrior of incredible prowess, one with a phallus nearly as big as their sword. They're the kind of hero everyone (men and women alike) wants to tumble into bed with, and they are very aware of just how desirable they are.
Did I neglect to mention that warrior isn't a man, but a futa giantess named the Battlebitch? A woman who takes better care of the sword between her legs than the one strapped to her back? Who'd rather collect kisses than coins for a job well done? And that her companion, Tess, is a cat-woman alchemist, two parts mysterious and one part standoffish, but endearingly sympathetic? Yeah, so you're starting to get the sense of what you're in for here, but as kinky and erotic as it can be, it's always playfully so.
This is the kind of heroic sword-and-sorcery story I grew up with, but it's also a story of friendship and (eventually, I promise, be patient) romance. There are layers of mystery to it, most of them surrounding Tess, and some pretty big world-building elements to be discovered in the latter chapters. It's an exciting tale, perfectly paced, and the characters are just so damned likable you won't want to leave them behind.
I'm going to the horny jail for this lol) Angst free, quirky, and the perfect book for times when you get tired from heavy drama and feel like reading some light fantasy spice. Also the friendship parts warmed my heart❤️
I picked it up for free on Kindle unlimited because the name was hilarious and the cover kind of adorable. And it didn't disappoint at all. At times sweet, hilarious, a lil spicy, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and hope the author has a second one, hehehe, coming soon!
