After Phrase Seven, the job suddenly becomes visceral. Kelly and Pierce are thrown into a race against the clock to stop catastrophe. Biological weapons, mind control, U.S. vs Russia being used as pawns, this story has it all.
Chase has setup a world that is only too realistic to our own world. The reality is, the things Chase mentions can happen. It's scary, and the realism makes it all come home in my mind. The pacing, the details about HIG technique....it's all there through the action. I cannot wait to read the next installment in the Reston world, I'm waiting on pins and needles for 'The Fear Maven'!
It looks like this one took ages to read but actually I took a break from it somewhere around a third of the way through. I just wasn’t really getting into it, particularly after enjoying the first book in the series so much, but when I picked it up again I was glad to find that the story picked up momentum and I ended up really enjoying it. I’m looking forward to the next book. Four stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A mind controlling virus? The how, why, and who is responsible had me up late at night seeking answers. At the end I breathed a big sigh of relief and since I had not read Book 1, I immediately went and bought it. I’m hoping there will be a Book 3.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series. Book 2 feels rushed and drawn out. That said, I finished it and I typically will close and never re-open something dull. I'm hopeful that Book 3 has more depth, more twists, and turns, etc...
Loved the plot. The writing was spot on. Not too technical. There may have been some typos, but it doesn't take away from what you're reading. This author is one of the most likable people I’ve ever seen in interviews.
