Silas This summer is supposed to be epic. New sister. New family. Same crew. The only thing I didn’t count on was her.
Lux brings with her a whole new set of issues, danger, and bodies trailing our wake.
When lines blur, my own self worth is tested. Being abandoned at a young age made me used to being alone. I had no-one until my best-friends came along and saved me, making them the only family I know.
At first I’m cautious, but Lux soon becomes a target I’m determined to keep safe. A friend, I never thought I’d have. A liar, I never thought I’d needed.
When lies and betrayal wrap us in darkness, neither of us will escape the storm.
Lux The summer was all the time I was given to earn my freedom. What started as a ruse, quickly becomes a fight for my life.
I don’t want to lie. I don’t want to betray everyone who makes me feel at home. I refuse to hurt Silas.
He’s broken, damaged, and deadly. The type of man a girl should run from. But I always loved a challenge.
To escape the storm, we’ll have to trust in the one thing that has always let us down...love.
The Rogue crew is spending the summer in a cabin on the lake and it will likely be the last time everyone is together for a while since Ciaran, Silas, and Kai plan to join the military. Saylor's friends from New York are also joining for the summer with new target, Lux. Between Rogue dealing with members showing up dead and Lux's secrets this isn't the summer they expected.
I couldn't put this book down! I don't always love books that change the focus of characters in the middle of the series, but thankfully that was not the case here. #SummerGirl had a nice balance of keeping Saylor's story as a main focus of the book while also allowing the reader to learn more about Silas. I also loved the dynamic Silas and Lux had together! I cannot wait for the next book.
I was able to read an ARC thanks to A.M. Brooks and The Next Step PR.
Book 3 in The Midwest Boys series and sheesh, are you in for a blast!
It's Silas's turn *evil laugh* - don't you just love when the unfeeling, laid back, aloof, sexy jerk falls head over 😘
We meet Lux/Raina, who has been put under Rogues protection. We know she's had a tough past (she needs Rogue so it's been tough tough!!) but we don't find out more about that until the end and my heart hurt for her! While her and Silas have this connection, she's keeping secrets - dangerous secrets and considering someone (or several someone's!) are out to take Rogue down, but forget closing them down - they want them dead and they are evil!!
This book is full of attraction, passion, friendships, action, danger, steam and an excellent storyline that will have you glued!
*I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest review.
5 OH MY STARS!! Oh my, oh my, oh my....I am at a loss for words!! I was on the edge of my seat all the way through. I love this story land and I need more. You must read this series, so download now and read.
This is the third book in "The Midwest Boys" series and I am absolutely enthralled with these books. #SummerGirl has kept the suspense, intrigue, mystery and of course the romance of the previous two books. We see Silas' softer side with Lux being brought into Rogue, the two have similar life stories and together they start to trust, except and love. The Rogue team are spending their summer at the beach but it's not all fun and games, there are challenges to face and danger lurking everywhere. As usual this book has you holding your breath only to end on a cliff hanger. Great book Ashton, patiently waiting for #4 in the series.
Well this series literally is trying to kill me! Raina / Lux is our Summer girl. Through her eyes and there’s of her friend/MidWest boy Silas, we find healing and love. We also have some really tough moments with heartbreaking disasters.
Ashton truly has her readers by their heartstrings. This group of do gooders are really trying to save lives and keep evil from taking the ones they care for.
It really is a battle of good verses evil and who will triumph.
You’ll wish you had a looking glass to see the ending of this because it has such a gripping storyline.
#SummerGirl is book 3 in The Midwest series. It’s Silas and Lux’s story and Brooks did not disappoint with the continuation. That cliffhanger is a doozy though!
Pleasant surprise to see a softer side to Silas as we watch his feelings for the newest target Raina(Lux) grow. I loved seeing Silas and Jason slowly start accepting Saylor and Mila as part of their family and watching that family bond strengthen. Great storyline with so much angst and drama. The unknown of what’s coming will leave you on edge. I loved all the supporting characters. I can’t wait to find out where Brooks takes this story in book 4.
#SummerGirl is book three in The Midwest Boys Series and it blew my mind. I fell in love with this series from the beginning and I can not get enough. There is danger, suspense, actionz love, friendship, and so much more. These books are not recommended to be read as standalones! I highly suggest they be read in order. I am also going to be getting this paperback to add to the othera on my shelf ASAP!
#SummerGirl was nothing what I expected it to be considering its Silas story and how he was in the other books... I guess I didn't know what exactly to expect. This was not it! This story has so much going on! I can not wrap my head around the ending!! A.M. Brooks you have wrote another amazing book but left us hanging! This is a must read for anyone. It has suspense but not like most, A.M. Brooks has this way with writing, the emotion, the protection, the events, the details.... its all perfect!
Now to wait for the next one to get the rest of the story.....
It's so good to be back amongst these characters. Just like the other books in the series I was transfixed from cover to cover. I love the premise of Rogue, so the events that occur within this book had me on the edge of my seat, not being able to believe what I reading. The author sure sends you on a rollercoaster of emotions with no safety bar, I'm still sitting here in shock after that ending. So much happens and is uncovered within the pages that I can't really say much more without giving anything away, but I'm sitting here on tenterhooks eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.
“I just want you to know that even though I have no idea what love looks like, I do know that I feel it. I didn’t think I would until I saw you on that dock.”
#SummerGirl is another solid installment to the amazing Midwest Boys series. I've said it before and I'll say it again, A.M. Brooks excels at conveying emotion. I felt all the hurt, the conflict, and the excitement with the characters. Being with these characters from the beginning, it makes watching the slow healing of the past all the more heartfelt.
I was curious how stoic, prickly Silas would find himself in love. His story with Lux was really sweet and I liked seeing these two together. They both needed someone and now they have each other. I also loved seeing Ciaran and Saylor together. Every character is interesting, there are so many stories to be told and so much opportunity for the future. I would love to see more interactions with Saylor and Jason in the future, and I'm still very invested in Kelly/Jason and Matt/Erika's happiness.
I would not recommend this book as a standalone, as there is a lot going on and loose ends and mysteries carried over from the previous books. Even having read them, I found myself needing a refresher on past events.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Five stars is just not enough to show my love for this book! I would truly rate it 11 stars if possible! Silas and Lux are everything!
AM Brooks delivered with the twists and turns of being in Rouge. I love coming back to this world because it feels like coming home and it brings me peace. We get to see more into what these characters have to go through not only being in Rouge, but also dealing with relationships. This is a book full of adventure, finding ones self, and discovering family. I absolutely love Lux. She is different and special in her own way. I felt for her the entire time and wanted nothing but happiness for her. Silas, oh how my love for him grew! Not only did we get his broody, dark side, but we also got more from him. We got to see how he can accept the changes that come with each day. I love getting to see him with his dad and that relationship develop.
My oh my, did this leave me hanging for wanting so much more! I am fully in withdrawals and absolutely need the next book right now! Once again AM Brooks gives us a fantastic read and characters we can't do anything but love. I definitely think all should read this book and if you haven't started the series yet, you should do that!
WOW... I'm going to start with I DIDN'T read the two previous books and went in blind. I I tend to do that with new author's and series. It took me a bit to get my bearings, but I enjoyed the journey.
Both Silas and Lux have had these crazy upbringings. It's easy to forget they are just teenagers and handling this world of conspiracies and threats. This journey is a great representation with what I love about NA books, a little bit of the unbelievable situations and a little bit of "carefree" fun. Silas and Lux I don't think could have fought the pull between one another, and watching them finding the stability of having the other by their side was wonderful.
While I've had A.M. Brooks on my TBR for a while this was my first dive into her books. Time to dust off that backlist of hers and understand a bit more of this world.
And so the plot thickens......! I am loving how Ms Brooks is weaving all these stories together, focusing on each couple and yet still with the threat against Rogue as the main storyline. Full of intrigue, suspense and drama whilst being sprinkled with young love. All of these young adults are finding their own way.... revealing their own characters. Silas was always the quiet, mysterious one.... with his own turmoil and demons from growing up he keeps himself guarded. Lux hasn’t had it easy at all.... they both feel a connection and when they finally act on it they make a great couple. I’m enjoying this series immensely and can’t wait to see how Kai is going to charm his way out of his mess....whilst helping save the world of Rogue!
4* Lux has been accepted into the Rogue programme & had been given a new identity as Raina, however the identity comes at a cost. Silas is part of Rogue and protects those around him, he's feeling the pull towards Lux. The pressure Lux feels is coming to a head now, she knows that she can trust Silas with what she knows. Lots of action for the Rogue members, I'm looking forward to reading more from them.
I just LOVE this!! Oh my goodness, what a book! I’m stuck in awe how Lux and Silas’ story started and kept me on edge the whole way through. Having more action, angst, mystery and a few light moments too, it’s like meeting your favourite people after a long break. Although a little bit more of them on a more personal level would have been good, this was still absolutely amazing! I cannot wait for more and I hope it’s going to be soon. This comes highly recommended. *You will need to read this series in order*
Edited Manuscript - Rogue is under fire every member is on high alert, and in the midst of what seems to be an attempt to hurt people very important to Rogue, Silas finds himself seeing a Target as someone more than just to protect.
To say I loved this book is an understatement! A.M. Brooks has had me under a spell since #MNGirl, once I was done with that book I had to get every single book she wrote to date and binge read! Just like all the others this author has literally pulled at my heartstrings and had me hooked from page 1. Ugh the love, suspense, the secrets, and the bond these characters have 🥰🥰 and that freaking ending! 🤯
A.M. Brooks has created the coolest world with the Rogue crew and what they do. I couldn't wait to dive into Silas. He is so swoon worthy. I love watch this world grow and unfold.
I love these Midwest Boys and their girls. I fell in love with Silas right from the first glimpse of him in the first book. What can I say…I love the bad boys and he was the worst. Such a player but he always had the backs of his guys. Silas is a force as one of the new generation of incredible folks that are the leaders of Rogue, the secret organization that hides and defends those on the run from evil. And there’s a new evil out to destroy Rogue from the inside. Ugh, so many enemies so little time! There’s a continuation of the storyline from previous stories with some keys folks in jeopardy and the danger ever present. All the kids are back with Ciaran and Saylor stronger than ever but Kai has a bad moment with Oaklynn. And then there’s new girl Lux/Raina. She’s has a secret that impacts Rogue. Lux catches Silas’ eye and she’s a goner for him. Can’t blame the girl. He’s always been anti relationship so I was a little surprised that he fell so quickly. The romance between the two was a little quick for me and I didn’t get a real sense of Lux until later in the story. If you didn’t read the previous books you would probably be lost with the on-going intrigue and wouldn’t really know Silas. The suspense rolled along and ramped up with the jaw dropping ending. This one didn’t have the pop and sizzling of the previous stories but I’m all in with this series and can’t wait for the next installment. I really love the action and danger as the mystery unfolds and the Rogue hunks jump into the fray. Terrific series! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Cleverly written and with careful attention to details, #SummerGirl has been an intriguing and exciting read. A little slow at first, but overall well thought out. And its ending ... Wow, how unexpected! What. A. Cliffhanger!! I look forward to the next book of this magnificent series.
I absolutely love this series! A.M. Brooks has created a amazing world with complex characters and a unique storyline that has me hooked! This story is full of mystery suspense intrigue friendships family love and so much more this is the ultimate reading experience and the ending omg that ending I’m anxiously waiting on pins and needles for the next book!
SummerGirl is book three in The Midwest Boys Series and it blew my mind I couldn't wait to get back to this world. It’s Silas and Lux’s story and this arthur did not disappoint with the continuation. Lux has been accepted into the Rogue programme & had been given a new identity. Silas, oh my this boy swoon not only did we get his broody, dark side, but we also got more from him. These midwest boy's will melt your heart and have you falling in love with them.
I enjoyed this story a bit more. There is more action and we get introduced to a new character, which becomes Silas’ love interest. I think this is my favorite one out of all of them yet. I didn’t really want to read Kai & Oaklynn’s story yet, but now I need to find out what happens in the next story.
Another great read. I can't recommend this series enough. It's become very special to me!
The ending of the last book felt like we still needed the POV of the Say and Ci but I do like that we get Silas POV as he is just as connected to the story as the others since the new revelations. He has a lot to deal with. His father's truth and His fathers actions. I was excited to see whay this will bring and his progress from feeling all this pain for so long to now feeling a sense of responsibility and love.
I was looking forward for the progress of all these relationships since the bomb that was dropped but it was still stagnant as ever. I did love that scene between father and son but was disappointed that nothing happened with Jason and the other 2! I was expectant and excited to see improvement and some sort of development in their relationship. but alas it did not happen. Im sorry but he is not much of anything at this point and Matt is the one who does all and speaks for all. I thought they were to do it together. Jason has yet to man up. I fear i will not see it! only through being told rather than shown.
I don't understand the point in creating this family dynamic when not showing us the solidification of these relationships. Whats the point of it and what make us invested and love these characters?? Is Jason meant to be unliked and just there for plot convenience? I hope not because he could've been a kick ass character. maybe the Author didnt want him to outshine Matt?? but that's not possible since he is quite a cemented lead character.
The ending was too abrupt and I was surprised by it. I feel there were still things left unsettled between this couple. It just begun. For example Say and Ci, while i feel the whole story is better told from just their pov, their relationship was in a good place, so it made sense to move on from them and go to Silas. On the other hand moving on to Kai and Oak, feels like we will be even more on the outside looking in. Therefore im worried we wont have much to go on. AGAIN, i dont like this as it makes it more impersonal and even more further from seeing things develop relationship wise. I wanted to see them all becoming a family.
I wish this book was told though multiple POV'S because honestly, i loved the Matt pov, plus seeing Erika's, Jason's or Kellys would've been fantastic. It would've added more dimensions to the story!! since they themselves feel just as much a part of everything thats going down. After all it all began from when they were the young ones!!
I love this world and I hope book 4 answers everything! I cant stop reading this book but I am worried for the final book.
In this third installment of the Midwest Boys series, we are focused on Silas and the target he is out to protect. The spotlight is on them, however the entire Rogue storyline is running in the background. This review may spoil previous books in the series.
While we weren't left on such a huge cliffy with My #MNGirl, we are picking right up at summertime with the Rogue team and the newest editions. Silas has been quite the enigma thus far, we know he's got some major daddy issues and now a new half sister, but his main thing is the fact that he is shunning love saying he knows it only leaves to heartache. So young to be so jaded.
It's a predictable story line for Silas and the new girl, however it really added so much to the rest of the Rogue mystery. There are new players in the game and it gets more deadly with each book. A.M. Brooks is building to something and that something I won't be guessing because I really hope there's a big ole curve ball thrown in.
"If we all can stay alive and survive our secrets, the future could be a beautiful thing."
Here's hoping Silas! The book is once again well written and once again I find myself more interested in the plot rather than the romance, not saying that is a bad thing. We keep getting new directions to follow and honestly, I can't wait to see how it pans out. A.M. Brooks is doing a great job at keeping the action/suspense level high and the end of the books making you want more. Kai is up next and who knows what else will be in store for us following along.
Another riveting and thrilling edition to the Midwest Boys series.
From the first two books in the series I was fascinated by the angry and broken Silas. The bits we got of his relationship with his parents or lack there of, was heartbreaking and devastating. So I knew Silas’s happily ever after would be difficult. How would you convince the boy that everyone leaves to take a chance on love? But AM Brooks did just that with two names.
Once again our heroine Raina/Lux is in Rogue and what lead her to being in need of their protection and hiding skills is a shocking. She is so much more that what makes up her files.
The relationship between Silas and Liz was beautiful. He was so patient and considerate of not just her feelings but where she was at mentally. These two have such a pull towards one another from the beginning.
We have more action, more mystery and one heck of a cliffhanger.
Silas and the gang of Rogue are going to a cabin for the summer, and while there are still serious things going on with everything, his life looks different finally despite all the demons he carries. Now, Silas was the boy who really pissed me off in the first book in this series because he was hateful for no reason to Saylor. Little did he know what was coming, but at least there was healing happening in his family. Lux is the newest target Rogue is trying to keep safe, but she's holding big time secrets that won't make friends to be honest. Of course she & Silas are drawn to each other but oh my hell the storm coming is going to be vicious. This means we have new twists coming in hot so I was on the edge of my seat cover to cover because I still don't have all the answers that I desperately need! I LOVE this series so much, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
This is the third book in this awesome series and is Silas and Lux’s journey. Silas is broken, and dangerous, while Lux has had a tough past, and she is harbouring some dangerous secrets. When Lux becomes a target and is under Rogues protection, Silas will do whatever he must to protect and keep her safe. This is a well written flawless story which is an emotional roller coaster, and filled with friendships, lies, betrayal, secrets, danger, suspense, trust, action, passion, and is a steamy all-consuming riveting page turner, which had me on tenterhooks throughout. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
#Summergirl is book 3 in the Midwest Boys series and it is fantastic. AM continues to take us on an emotional and suspenseful journey with the #Rogue crew.
The crew is planning a relaxing summer before heading their separate ways. Silas and Lux have an instant attraction but try to remain “friends”. Is it just a summer fling or is there more there?
I love how A.M. continues the story of all the main characters throughout each book while bringing in new characters for us to fall in love with. As the summer progresses outside forces begin to play havoc and puts the crew on alert. The cliffhanger in this one is ….
I requested an arc and I am leaving my honest review.
Wow I loved Silas and Lux. What a fantastic couple. A guy that was brought to his knees by something he thought he would never have. How fantastic is that. There is so many working parts and characters in this story that I don't know how the author keeps everything in order. The only character I don't like is Bentley and I think he has ulterior motions in play. Unless of course the author is throwing out red herrings. Which wouldn't surprise me. The ending surprised me and I hope the outcome isn't bad. But of course these authors love leaving us hanging. Really love this series. I can't wait for the next book.
Copy received from The Next Step PR. Voluntarily reviewing and all opinions are objective and my own.
#SummerGirl took me right back to everything I loved in #MNGirl that got me hooked onto this series. Silas and Lux are the sweetest together.
Overall, a quick enjoyable read that obviously sets up more. Lux has a secret and the author did a great job at not being obvious with it. Silas is the guy who doesn’t care for a girlfriend, but being around Lux is different, enjoyable, and the two fit.
A great read that ends on a cliffhanger but thankfully the wait for #NYGirl isn’t long!
