In the action-packed sequel to Curse Painter, the race is on to find a reclusive magical stoneworker.

Stone charming is the rarest form of art magic, used to manipulate stone and bring fantastical sculptures to life. When Briar, Archer, and the outlaws are hired to find a powerful stone charmer, they know how dangerous his magic could be in the wrong hands.

But their old enemy, Lord Larke, wants the stone charmer too. Briar and Archer must race his minions across a snowy wilderness to the stone charmer’s remote hideout. If they fail, Larke will use this extraordinary power to threaten the entire kingdom.

The journey will test Briar and Archer’s bond. But a secret they discover along the way could break it.

Jordan Rivet is one of my favorite authors right now. Book two of The Art Mages of Lure is full of magical action, lovable characters and cringeworthy villians who happen to be the fathers of the two MC’s. I enjoyed this so much, I finished in in one day. I girl the third book comes out sooner rather than later.

July 2023 Update: I’m lowering my rating to 2 stars simply because the longer I think about this book and the more time it sits with me the less I like it. Which is sad, but hey I can’t love them all no matter how much I’d like to.

Original Review: Well, that was…boring.

The first few chapters were excellent and sucked me right in but then it dragggged on and on and on and OONNN until we reached the end which was exciting…at least, it would have been more so if I actually cared by that point which I only mildly did.

Briar and Archer are still wonderful characters I like but Archer made a choice to withhold information about Briar’s mother from her for a really selfish and stupid reason I didn’t think fit his character at all and was just there to create stupid drama between him and Briar that we didn’t need. When they weren’t doing that though they’re really cute and work so well together which ended up being sorely lacking in this book compared to Curse Painter due to said Stupid Plot Device Added For This Reason Only. 🙄

And that one peice of oddly placed information one character told another I talked about in my review of Curse Painter? Well it’s brought up again to the actual character it would affect here and nothing really came of it, so why did we have it in Curse Painter at all? Also the way the book ended on Briar’s end was completely random and makes no sense. Like why are we doing Sleeping Beauty now in a Robin Hood retelling…???

Still well written prose wise but this book definitely suffers from Middle Book Syndrome and was rather boring. Will be continuing but things need to pick up and make more sense in the third book (not to mention let Briar and Archer be and work together all ready!) in order for me to end up liking it more then this one.

Even though I prefer Curse Painter (actually, I really loved it), Stone Charmer has proved to be a very strong second instalment.
Can't wait to see how the story continues!

I'm loving this new series by Jordan Rivet so much! Perfect action adventure fantasy for lovers of vivid settings, found family, unique magic and so many nods to the old classics you'll just squeal.

This one had more of a cliff hanger ending than the first, so...I'll be needing the next one SOON.

In the second book of the Art Mages of Lure series, Jordan Rivet picks up where "Curse Painter" left off with the promise of a new start for Briar, Archer, and their little band of thieves. Of course, it doesn't pay as they imagined. They soon find themselves up to their necks in trouble and complications. Instead of a new start, they are coerced into finding a stone charmer for Lord Barden before Archer's father can get to him.

From the beginning to the end of the book, it hold your attention with tension, action, adventure, and a bit of romantic distress. The book kept me glues to my eBook reader until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. Not many novels do that anymore, so one that keep me intrigued to the end is a delight. I loved the first book of this series and the second one does not disappoint. Ms. Rivet's characters are well defined and delightful. As a reader, I was drawn into their story, rooting for them with each step. The story itself is rich with a vividly-imagined world featuring unique and dangerous magic wielded by rare talented humans.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review, which I am delighted to give. This is an excellently entertaining book by a very talented writer. If you love magical fantasy, you'll love this series. So, if you haven't read "Curse Painter", start there, then continue with "Stone Charmer."

“Is this going to involve stealing from the rich to give to the poor?”
“Lew chuckled.” “We have a reputation to live up to now, don’t we?”

I have loved Curse Painter and I loved Stone Charmer even more. In this book, we get to know so much more about the art mages and the extent of their talents.
When I began the series, I’ve read it was a Robin Hood retelling and I believe the retelling becomes more present in book two. However, don’t get stuck to the idea of a retelling, because Art Mages of Lure must be one of the most creative and original series I’ve ever read. Jordan Rivet is an amazing storyteller that has crafted a wonderful fast paced adventure filled with twists and art magic.
The characters grow and we get to meet a new and powerful art mage.
I’m beyond excited to read Voice Mage, book three in the series, for I expect it to be focused on one of my favorite characters, Esteban.

First I'll go and rerate the first book. I judged that harshly cause I thought it was standalone and felt unfinished.
And now about this book. I picked it up and hardly remember anything from the previous book. I remember archer was supposed to marry Mae, and Jemma is the only one hanging on that who's secretly his mother.😑 Well, after finishing this one I think I'm well accounted now.
I loved rune. He's not selfish, he just knows how to protect himself cause no one else did that. Archer need to call out Jemma's bitchy behavior regarding his relationship choices.
Next book is superlative to voice mages, I hope Esteban will make the end.
And can I just say how foolish they're to believe that Braden won't be using rune. Why do you think he's after him? I'm calling it rn.

The gang is back and things do not go as planned. Instead of returning Mae, getting their payday and riding off into the sunset Brier and Archer are on another dangerous adventure. The story was fun, entertaining, and a blast to read. Kept me reading just to see what was going to happen next and how things would not go as planned. Add in a few secrets, upsets, and magic the story was a great read. Loved it. Had to see how Archer and Brier would survive and what crazy adventures they must survive this time. The concept was just as good and fun to read as the first book. I loved all the characters both good and bad.

Stone Charmer is definitely a big hit! Ms. Rivet's creativity genes must have been on steroids when she wrote this book! Filled with twists and turns, magic, danger, intrigue and adventure, this fast-paced storyline has it all and then some. The characters are so well done they feel real. From their daring escapes to their hardiest adventures to their most intimate moments, they have taken on a life of their own. This was truly a spectacular read, and I can't wait to see what the next volume brings!

This was an amazing middle book in this trilogy! Jordan Rivet is my new inspiration as a writer. This books picks up right where the first one left off and the action never stops. New characters, New magic, but the same mission to stop evil and help those who are less fortunate. I cant wait to see how the story ends.

The second book in the Art Mages of Lure was entertaining and magical. I enjoyed the storyline and the gangs mission to save Nat by finding the stone charmer. I missed Nat's youthfulness and charm and not having Sheriff tagging along was also sad but it was for the best to protect his paws from the harsh winter weather (Mae is spoiling him rotten anyway so he probably isn't too upset to be left behind.) The introduction to the stone charmer, Rune, was well done. He is larger than life with amazing powers but a little too set in his ways of being a loner. Stone charming is so interesting, it is equivalent to being a mason and puppet master. Rune is very artistically talented and magically powerful, his statues are lifelike, mystical, and with a touch of absurdity in his compositions. Rune's ability to control multiple statues at once is impressive but he can also choose to move them with great fluidity which is rare in his line of work. His gruff personality is overshadowed by his love of animals, wanting to help those in trouble, and his passion about his work. Briar and him hit it off by bonding over art and magic but he still tries to keep a wall up to separate him from people who want to use him. I'm excited to see where the next and final book takes the gang with their mission to give Archer's Dad, Jasper Larke, a hard time while making his people's lives easier. They have a reputation to uphold now: 'steal from the rich and give to the poor.'

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love everything this author writes, and this book is no exception! This book is also a bit of a tribute to fine arts. Love that! I love this unique world of magic The stone charmer was the perfect character to add. His magic is amazing and I enjoyed seeing this reclusive man forced from the secure fortress he created.

There is a nice theme in the book of learning to trust again after being hurt. This is a great ensemble cast of imperfect people who come together and do great things. Very entertaining book, and just what I needed!

“They were family, you see, a bond stronger than blood.”

Archer wants to give his band of theives the reward they’re due, but their plan goes horribly wrong. Now, they must find a powerful stone mage or their captured friend, Nat, will pay the price...

While Archer’s team ultimately succeeded in their mission in book one, there are consequences from their actions. I liked seeing these characters not get along in this book and have to solve problems while not at their best and even separated.

Fans of Robin Hood will like this band of good-hearted thieves that want to help the masses.

Archer and Briar’s romance was still sweet despite the sting of a betrayal.

And the stone mage’s powers were really cool.

I love how the magic system in this world is focused on art—so unique and interesting!

Sometimes things just don't end up as you planned. This type of event kicks off the beginning of Author Rivet's second book in the entertaining fantasy series Art Mages of Lure. Can I just say, I would very much like to read more in the series?

Yup. There, I said it.

It was fun getting to meet the 'old crew' and follow characters from the first book. I enjoy the pacing and banter quite a bit and the magic system is interesting.

There are some nice twists and turns and some good intrigue in this YA fantasy book.

I look forward to reading more.

I received an ARC. Another winner for Jordan Rivet. I enjoyed this one even more than the first in the series. As the adventures of the outlaws continues, we meet a fascinating new mage and the intrigue begins. It was easy to picture the characters, scenery and battles as the story unfolds. It had all of the elements that you would expect from a Rivet novel. So looking forward to the continuing story of this "family" of outlaws.

By the hand of Jordan, this story has gain a live of its onw.
In this part, our heroes needs to find, and convince, a stone charmer to go with then in order to save one of their onw that has been arrested.
But before they can do that, they will face a lot of problems and only their magic combined can make some difetrence, althought they manage to convince the stone charmer to go with then, not everything is good as one of our friends has got deppelded of all vital energy.

My goodness. This was an action packed adventure. I was captivated for the whole book mesmerized by the intense storyline. It was definitely a rollercoaster ride for all the characters who constantly evolve and grow in confidence and ability.
Lots of twists and turns in the plot. Some surprises.
We are left with wanting more. The next book can’t come soon enough!!

Loved it!

I borrowed this book via KU as soon as it was available, but I didn’t read it right away because I wanted to savor having it first. This past week was a horrible one, and I decided to dive in and read this book finally. The adventure was great, the characters were awesome, and I read the last 40% in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Jordan rivet is an author I get really excited about reading after listening to the audiobooks for her two other fantasy series, and this series is absolutely living up to my expectation. The new characters add depth to the story, while the older characters grow into themselves and develop further. A creative new world and magic system gives the story a cool atmosphere while the writing is absolutely spectacular! A must listen/read!

The beginning of the book was a little slow for me but otherwise, I loved it. After the first quarter I was hooked. The romance, the way the characters grew even further in this book, the plot and intrigue... all phenomenal! This series is giving me major Robin Hood/fairytale vibes and I'm here for it! I can't wait to finish it out and see how things end. Archer and Briar are both favorites of mine, together and apart, and I need more of them! A great read!

Another excellent story!!

J. Rivet has knocked it out of the ballpark once again. This is the second book in The Art Mages of Lure series and it is as enchanting as the first. Follow Briar and Archer as they try to save a powerful stone mage from being pressed into service by a power hungry Baron. Truly a magical fantasy!!

Sequels generally suck. This one breaks that rule.

Okay, so I bucked the odds and got the sequel to Curse Painter, because Painter triggered my first written review in over a year. And I read a lot.
Read this one straight through. NOT sorry.
It slows down sometimes- but so does any tale. Forgiven.
Worth it. Enjoy

So I love how this sequel managed to pull in even more details of the Robin Hood legend. The story is a tad slower, but still very enjoyable.

And the surprise Sleeping Beauty mash up at the end!
