Maxima Alcado returns in another heart-pounding installment of the international bestselling Rogue Ethereal Series.
A former Rogue being presented to the Fates. What could go wrong?
When I was offered a seat on the Ethereal Council, no one said anything about meeting the actual Fates. On the day of my presentation, not only do I offend the three women who control every single thread of life, but an Angel’s thread is cut short, and no one knows how.
Now it’s my job to find out who did it before the death gets pinned on me and starts an all-out Angel-Demon war.
Annie Anderson is the author of the international bestselling Rogue Ethereal series. A United States Air Force veteran, Annie pens fast-paced Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy novels filled with strong, snarky heroines and a boatload of magic. When she takes a break from writing, she can be found binge-watching The Magicians, flirting with her husband, wrangling children, or bribing her cantankerous dogs to go on a walk.
Ahhhhh!! This series! I just finished Lady of Madness & Moonlight and I need more! I can’t believe I finished already. I tried so hard to savor it. I told myself that I was going to take my time with it, but then I started reading and I couldn’t stop.
If you’re reading this review, chances are that you’ve read the the other two books in the series, meaning you already know that you’re going to read this one too, but I get it, sometimes you just want to see what other people think. I won’t go into detail because there are definitely some surprises here and there. I will tell you that I am obsessed with this series and these characters. Max is incredible. Her drive and strength make her seem almost super human, yet her vulnerability and insecurities make her feel oh so real. Her inner circle are extremely intriguing and I have loved getting to spend time with them. I can’t wait to see where Anderson leads them.
Like the rest of the series, this installment was a fast-paced, action packed adventure. There was never a dull moment. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish!
I am hooked on this series! Max has so much snark and sassiness, but it’s her loyalty to those she loves that keeps me spellbound. She cuts a striking path with her honesty, sarcasm, and vulnerabilities.
Max so needs to be my BFF!!!! We pick up after the events of the last book and she is being pressured to take a council seat. Events conspire that get her to agree but things take a turn for the worse at her presentation to the Fates ceremony. From there it's non stop action, secrets, surprises, and lots of magic. Add in Max's quirky attitude and it is impossible to stop reading once you get started. I can't wait to see what she does next. A must read for fans of urban fantasy. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
I took a few days to think on this review for all the GOOD reasons. Max is one of my favorite characters to read. Let's face it, she is a badarsed witch that has a backstory none of us can relate to. She's been burned at the stake, died in other ways only t be brought back time and time again. But what is her purpose, why is she here? Well that simple. She is here to kick the bad guys teeth in and restore the peace in her world.
Simply put but it's the truth. In this story we follow Max on a new journey in her life. A door has opened and Max being Max, she dives in head first only to hit the bottom hard. She has to step out and track down a killer with absolutely nothing to go on. She does have help in the way of Alistair Quinn. Hot, sexy and did I mention hot? No, well he is. He's also a demon with a serious attitude problem. Max only seems to make his angry side show. Though lets face it, Max gives no F's about his attitude. She wants to get her job done, go home and relax.
If only things were that simple. #ILoveMax #GirlPower
Ohmygoodness I love this series so much. I read this in one sitting which isn’t something I usually do. I really like Allistair, and I can’t wait to see how things play out with him. As always, Max is freaking awesome, I’m excited to get more revelations about her magic and who she is. Can’t get enough of this. I need more! There’s another book waiting in KU, you say? Well, I’ll be damned, I know what I’m reading next!
This book felt very similar to book 2, so I’m not going to spend a whole bunch of time on the review here…
I dunno. I don't really love the characters. As a whole, everyone works well, and I like the found family feeling we have going on. But, when you start to actually look at the characters or the plot there's just so many holes.
It’s quick, it’s easy, it’s cutesy. It’s pretty standard for a 6 book kindle unlimited series… But my love is diminishing book by book as we seem to go in circles.
Max, a witch demon hybrid, has jumped from one mess to another and was hoping to get a breather. As the story progresses another situation lands at her feet, new Ethereals come into her life, and once again the fate of the world rests on her shoulders. Annie Anderson’s Lady of Madness and Moonlight is an excellent paranormal urban fantasy read. It has thrilling situations, emotional interactions, and new twists on magic and myths that draw you in. I can’t wait for book four to come out.
Lady of Madness and Moonlight (The Rogue Ethereal series #3) by Annie Anderson
☆☆☆5 stars☆☆☆
What can I say about Max that I haven't already said before? She's basically my soulmate. She's the Queen of badassery, doesn't let anyone or anything stand in her way, and if you're lucky to have her love and devotion, never take it for granted.
If you think Max has been through the chaos of life in the past, you ain't seen nothing yet. She's up against her greatest challenge, proving once again, why she's the Queen of EVERYTHING.
Adding fuel to the fire, her path crosses with the sexy as sin, Alistair. He's a demon with a plan all his own, when Max muddles it up and has him second guessing who she really is, and why he cares to know.
New enemies on the horizon, family ties put to the test, and secrets that could make or break so many lives, Max will take you for another ride you won't soon forget.
It’s been six months since Max had to resolve her demon family’s drama. She’s spent the time training with Marcus and Barrett, building her relationship with her sister, hanging with friends, definitely not thinking about the guy she thought she might have had something with and oh right not deciding on if she will take the council seat offered to her.
Now that Max is no longer a Rogue she’s being present to The Fates which Barrett has done everything he can to prepare her for. But we all know Max can find herself in trouble even when she’s on her best behavior. And she finds that she isn’t the only one up for the council seat and not all the demons like their new princess. So naturally she’s still making enemies everywhere she goes. And that’s all before she’s accused of murder.
Max and a new demon acquaintance stumble upon a murdered angel which is a problem since demons and angels have that whole thing where they aren’t trying to go to wars. Knowing that she isn’t guilty the Fates request/demand that she investigate and find the killer to you know prevent any apocalyptic situations. And Max with no choice accepts in her usual flair of dramatics and back talking.
Max reluctantly accepts help from Alistar the demon who’s life is also on this line. The investigation unearths secrets from the past and she finds that this whole thing may just be personal. And the fact that she has to deal with 400 years of abandonment issues and her magic doing things she doesn’t expect and her seeing her parents.... things aren’t easy for her.
First I have to say I like Alistar and love Marcus and Barrett. I had thought that maybe things with Aidan in the previous book were hinting towards something... but that would have been a mess so maybe not. I definitely saw Ian’s thing coming I had a feeling in the last book that’s how that would go. I kinda don’t like Striker like at all he kinda sucks. I feel like I just can’t like Teresa on principle even if she might not be as evil as Max thought she was. Don’t know what to make of Andras. Poor Maria can’t seem to catch a break and not sure if I like Della yet.
This was my favorite of the series so far. Seemed like Max is coming into her own trying to get pass her past issues of feeling abandoned and life an outsider. Of course her problems aren’t going to go away overnight but she is trying and I do believe she will get there eventually. Sometimes though I just want to hug her.
The only downside to this book was that it ended so I live in anticipation of the next.
This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Annie Anderson!
Lady of Madness & Moonlight is the second book in the Rogue Ethereal series and continues the story of Max, her friends and even a new friend!
Daughter of Souls and Silence was such a good book and I couldn’t wait for the sequel, Lady of Madness & Moonlight. I was so excited when I got my ARC copy in my email box! I really love this series because it’s just the perfect amount of action and romance!
I love everything that Max does. She’s so badass and brave, she’s such a strong character and I love her. Our new friend, Alistair, is something special too. I’m not sure what to think of him but I can tell you that he’s hot! Alistair has an attitude, just like Max does. They’re perfect for each other!
It was no surprise that I loved Lady of Madness & Moonlight because Annie Anderson is one of my favourite authors. She’s such an amazing author and I love her Paranormal Romance and Romance books.
Lady of Madness & Moonlight was an amazing sequel and I cannot wait to read the next book!
Max, oh sweet sarcastic kick butt Max...we'd be the bestest of friends here in the real world.
I wanna sit here and spill the beans of all the deliciously fantastic things that happen in this book...but I won't. I will say that once again Max shows everyone that she is not a chick to be messed with, she will come back swinging. And Allister, oh my goodness you scrumptious demon you. Can I just have an hour with him behind closed doors? Pretty please?
Holy moly. This series is getting better and better. MAX our heroine is becoming powerful and a strong character. What is this fae magic she has? Dammit how many times am I going to change the shipping teams. I am now team ALISTER, you go demon boy. He's the only one who gives a rat's ass about MAX and doesn't tell her what to do. And the end, the deal am looking forward to it.
Overall you are in a shit of a ride. You are definitely going to enjoy it.
I wasnt sure if I would like this series or not but here I am getting ready to start book 4 after only 4 days. I really like this series, I have laughed with Max and been sad with her.. I'm glad Ian likes Maria, he would have been no good for Max. For a hot minute I thought Aiden might be in the running. But I'm really hoping Allister is one of the good ones.
This is the third book in this series and I they should be read in order. Max has been offered a seat on the ethereal council but things aren’t going to be easy. She will have to meet the Fates and of course something goes wrong. The Fates don’t seem to like her and during the ball she finds Ruby dead in the council room. Ruby and Max aren’t friendly and so of course Max will be blamed. The Fates give Max barely any time and no info to find the killer or she will be thrown under the bus for the killing herself. She meets Alistair at the ball and he is nothing like she thinks he will be. The Fates are more than willing to give him some of the blame as well. This book was fantastic. I love Max so much. She takes no shit and gives no Fs. Max is going to have to work fast to find out who is behind this. Max learns a lot while on this investigation. She learns that there are more people there for her than she knows. She learns there is more to her than she knows. Does anyone know the full extent of what she is and can do? If they do will they ever tell her. I love this cast of characters. I kind of hope that Alistair is Max’s other half. He knows when to stand up to her and when to just back her up. Max’s powers are ever changing and growing. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Congrats on another fantastic book. I can’t wait for more books from you Annie.
This is a turn of events. It seems as if Max is now diving straight into the world of supes by going straight to the top. Book 3 steamrolls Max over as she's adjusting to the new world she's fallen into. A world that considered a reject and shut her out as an outlier now wants her to be one of the "powers that be". Just one little problem. She's now being tried again for murder and this time, it could kick off a war between the angels and demons. Max cannot get a break.
This third book was a mistake to open up and read. Why? Because it is now 3 AM in the morning and I really need to sleep and yet... here I am reading this book under the covers because this series is digital crack for me. I keep chasing that high. Max's adventures and her parental issues are wild. I say, put on a helmet and brace yourself. Max is on maximum speed here trying to solve a homicide whilst being hampered by so-called friends and potentially a few frenemies.
This book is recommended to paranormal lovers who enjoy high action, drama and a female lead who has zero patience for fools.
"“It wasn’t exactly like I had a choice. They said they would blame the whole thing on me and Alistair if I didn’t. What the hell was I supposed to do? Say no?” I half-yelled, tossing my hands up. " - Max
Max has finally decided to accept the open chair offered by the Council; now she had to meet with the three Fates: three of the most arrogant, snide, petulant snots Max had ever had the (mis)fortune to meet. But that was only the beginning of the fun...
Max and company soon find themselves neck deep in a quagmire of danger, death and desire. Betrayals abound, and Max is hard pressed to recognize friend versus foe. But Max is determined to do whatever it takes.... To win....
Wowza, what a ride! Just when you think it can't get any crazier, you're proven oh so wrong!
In this third installment, Max is once again fighting for her life and to prove her innocence. She meets a new Ally whom I like pretty much.
We get the same gang, we meet the Fates and other characters as well.
My problems with books 1 and 2 were they felt too rushed and a little bit all over the place. I understand Max was used to being alone but sometimes she was irrational.
Can't wait for the next book and maybe learn a little bit more on her background.
I look forward to the next book in this series and I always enjoy Max, but Alistair I thought was an arrogant prick.
He needs a little more screen time to establish himself as something other than that. Also the detail at the end was interesting however it was a poor move on his part.
Completely obsessed with this series and can’t wait to read the next one. Mystery, tension, attraction and action will keep you on the edge of your seat
Action-packed, full of mind-blowing, buttkicking excitement! Another freakin fantastic book from Annie Anderson. Max comes upon her greatest challenge yet and the story is soooooooooo good. You need to read this series if you haven't yet! Waiting for book 4 now. Can't wait....OMG I need it now!
Annie Anderson continues to be one of my favorite authors. I always know that when I read one of her books, I might as well just set aside the time to sit down and read the whole thing in one setting. But, on the other hand, I want to take my time and savor each and every word because there is something wonderfully entertaining on every page.
In this installment of the series, we once again have my favorite half demon/half witch, Maxima Alcado, in trouble (of course!). She has been asked to serve on the Council which previously refused to accept her. But, somebody doesn't seem too happy about the whole thing.
I loved the addition of a new character in Alister, a demon who wants her seat on the Council. Will they become enemies or allies? There are plenty of hints at what might be, but the author leaves her readers hanging on that aspect.
There is plenty of magic, action, and betrayal as Max tries to solve a murder on a 48 hour deadline, answer to the Fates (who are three women that I wouldn't trust with anything important), and save her sister Maria once again. There is also plenty of Ms. Anderson's trademark snarkiness in the book and I found myself highlighting quotes on nearly every page. I love the humor that she adds to the book and would truly miss it if it wasn't there.
Some of my favorite quotes, which I think sum up the story well, are below. "I was a tattooed outcast who liked to make sure people paid for picking on the little guy." "Impervious and indestructible really aren't in my vocabulary." "How exactly is a man supposed to earn your trust if you refuse to give him even an ounce of leeway to prove himself?" "I'd rather just do it myself and save the hassle." "I think, Sentinel, what you are is still being discovered."
Thanks again, Ms. Anderson, for sharing your wonderful talent with your readers. I wait with bated breath to see what happens next with Max and friends!
Maxima AKA Max is about to be primped and trotted around like a prized show pony to the council. She is doing this begrudgingly. The Fates have other plans for her and tell her she HAS to dance with every male at the presentation. It’s here she meets Alistair Quinn one of the three guardians to the gates of Hell. He rubs her the wrong way and she pushes him back at every turn. When they stumble upon a crime in the judgement room, she knows they will be pinned for it because the victim is someone from Max’s past. She is given 48 hours to prove their innocence and it’s not without hiccups and no leads. With her group of friends and the Fates not helping and the Keys possible betrayal it’s a fight for their lives.
I adore Max. I have since book one I like that she makes no apologies for who she is. Which is a 400-year-old hybrid who is still discovering things about herself and It seems there are more secrets lurking in her closet. I’m hoping that Alistair is someone who will stick around. I like him he challenges her and can keep up. I read this book so quick I wish I would have prolonged it, but I seriously needed to know who was behind it all. You learn a little more about her past and that of the witches in her family. I can’t wait to read more!! I might go and re read the series that’s how much I love it.
OMG where do I begin with this review..... There was so much action and twists and turns that I was at the edge of my seat reading this book. I wanted to read this book slow as I enjoyed the other two but it was impossible as Max is invited to be on the council and at first she isn't sure she wants to be on the council but then she is told that she is a part of the council and will work with the other three women on it. But on the day of her presentation she offend the other three women and can't believe she did that. She is trying to apologize and fix things when things go even worse for her.
An angel's thread is cut short and she must find out who did it and why. She has no idea where to begin but she knows she better get to it or else she will be in a heap of trouble with the council. Her friends come to the rescue and as she sets out to find out what happens she has no idea that she is about to start off on one hell of an adventure.
I have been a paranormal funk for a while now and struggled to finish books. I should have known that Annie Anderson would take my funk beat it up and chuck it into the abyss. The book hangover I will be left with after the Third instalment of Max’s story will be thoroughly worth it. Her story gets better with each book and I love her a little more every time. My heart simultaneous sores and plummets with her story. I can’t even imagine what book four is going to have to offer but I can not wait for it!
AMAZING! This book is so full of action, magic and suspense. I couldn't put it down! This series blows me away. Max is a force to be reckoned with. She could do so much damage and yet she looks out for the little guy. This book does not disappoint at all. I could read this series all day, if only there were another book out already LOL. There were so many twists and turns in this book, I wasn't sure who was Max's allies there for a minute. But it all sorted out the way it was supposed to. I need book 4!!! ***I loved this book so much I had to leave a review after receiving a free copy.
Maxima is one of my all time favorite heroines. Her story just keeps getting better and better. With every new challenge she faces and butt she kicks the reader gets to see her grow. Reflecting on the knowledge she’s gained and using it to become better. She’s got brains, guts and heart. This part of her journey introduces Maxima to the charming, mysterious and slightly moody Alister. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the two end up together in the next book. They are such a great pair.
Yep....a solid five. This is book three...with no let downs whatsoever for me. Every character, every suspenseful plot twist, every shock this author put me through...just brilliant. I am truthfully perturbed that I have to wait for book four, as though this challenge to my patience was done on purpose just for me ...ridiculous...I know..but it’s one of “those” books. My emotions rode this rollercoaster and like an addict I need more lol. Sigh..until next book all. All my reviews are voluntarily written
The third and final part of this series about a witch who is banned as a 14-year-old and devotes her life to saving innocent people with her powers. In earlier parts you get to know the background of Max. That she is not only a witch but a half-demon and that she has more and stronger powers than any other witch. Through her actions in the past (previous stories), she has shown a strong sense of bad and good and she is nominated to participate in the Council. But nothing goes as it should, what the story of her life is.
An angel is murdered and it is up to Max and friends to find the killer ... within 48 hours to prevent a war breaking out between all paranormal beings. In her search for the murderer, she unravels a piece of the history of the witch's cove where she comes from and this history causes today's misery. Of course everything will be fine, but before that happens, everything will happen!
Again a fast-running book with many unexpected twists. Characters from earlier parts that come together in this story and an open end that makes you think that maybe (sometime?) part 4 will come ..... If so, I will certainly read that story too!
I recommend everyone to read these books if you like the paranormal world with all its special creatures, if you like tension and like to be misled. Nothing is predictable in this story
