Kera is getting better at the witch stuff, and much too good at curtailing gang activities.
She knows that’s the case because every gang in her area is after her now, egged on by the Startup.
Plus, the reporters are about to break the big story, and the publishers of How to be a Badass Witch are on her trail.
Is it time for Motorcycle Man to ride off into the sunset?
Her life has become so complicated that she’s had to put away thoughts of happily ever after. In fact, she has committed a possibly unforgivable sin to make sure that happens.
Can she continue to keep downtown LA and her friends safe…and keep her life?
This series gets better with each book. The main character grows not only in her witchy ways but her emotional maturity. Also the humor is great , and the action is fantastic. The storyline continues to advance and I can't wait for the next one in the series by this awesome author.
This was good until around 68% when all of the tension built deflated into weird slice of life-ness. There’s a perfect set up.. we have rival gangs, the reporters, the mob bosses, the mages, and the “biker men” all in one place. I was excited.
Instead of anything coming to a head, they spend a lot of time with Kera and friends playing matchmaker with their boss, the boss flirting with a rando, then buying him a new shirt and throughout all this he objects over and over. The reporters are sent away to a spa retreat with V8 juice. The rival gangs are spelled to have a good time, and the mages waddle off to eat dinner out of a foodtruck.
Wtf? What a waste of time and space. Don’t waste my time with a massive 6+ person POV set up with people from 5+ opposing factions so I can read 10 pages about a shy side character flirt with a random
Finally, I like Kiera and what she’s trying to do but there comes a point when she is really is just getting in the way and making things easier for the gangs/harder for the cops. When FBI and ATF get involved, maybe it’s time to allow the authorities to come down on the gangs and take them off the street.. instead of, you know.. putting the gang the sleep for 1 night where no one can find them?
I know it’s a tough concept, but they’re going to wake up again and still want to blow up the mermaid..
Audiobook quality was perfect. Narration etc. Star Rating is only for book itself
I can verify from my perspective this is another example of Anderle writing a book more as a tv serial than a standard book series (I think this mostly felt that way due to how the progress of James and Mother LeBlanc felt. My statement may be a bit harsher than necessary.). I was glad to finally have the conclusion to a few core bits of the universe that were established in book 1
Don't get me wrong it was still a fun romp and series, I mostly say the above to prepare you to treat the 3 books more like 3 acts of a larger novel.
The Kims' show that they really are fantastic mentors and guardians, A conclusion is found for the Gang wars; And the council continues being dumb
Would be a good series for a relaxing weekend; or a set of beach books
This Urban Fantasy is impressive. Kera MacDonagh has overreached. Now, the gangs are after her, including setting traps. The Coven, the FBI, the media, and the nation are watching. The powder keg is about to blow, and she's unsure if she wants to be left standing. Hunger, loneliness, and physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion constantly chase Kera.
This episode's clear direction is shared, as are some philosophical messages. From the reader's or listener's perspective, the build-up to powder keg goes smoothly. This phase of Kera's life ends gracefully, leaving the transition to the next phase for a future episode.
Kera finds herself thinking about what Mr and Mrs Kim have said to her and wonders if being too tough is worth being without someone like Christian in her life. She’s in a do or die situation with the Startups and has experienced witches on her tail. They’ve left her a psychic message that doesn’t reassure her at all. Again, she finds the Kims there when she needs them with training in martial arts and witchcraft. But, when the Mermaid is threatened it’s gloves off as far as Kera is concerned.
And i'm done with this serie... To much happening that lead to nowhere... The off topic that was boresome to read (if i had to read another discussion about the purple/burgundy shirt of the bar manager i would fall asleep, like this other pov's that add nothing to the story) After 3 books reading about the "mafia"and in the end was nothing more that a spoil girl trying to prove her worth to daddy and doing the same thing over and over!!
Couldn't give book three a five star rating because the fun wasn't there and at the end I felt bad. I read for escapism and expect to find my emotions lifted at the end of the roller coaster. Still . . . Great characters became like family. Had the usual fast moving action. Some may love it. (Was the author suffering from Covid-depression when working on this book?) Mrs. F
Well done Michael, an excellent series, with a top notch heroine doing brilliant stuff. She needs a grand sidekick and a small team to help. Keep up the great work, in the UK we say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. To all your family and friends. See you next year. Gary Challenger from Devon.
Great third installment, and now our "bad ass" is taking control! Once again, lots of action, angst, fun and friendship, along with great characters and a super plot. This series is simply a fun as HELL read, and I'm looking forward to How To Be Bad Ass Vigilante!
Another good read in Kera's story. It did not end as I expected. But then I try not to expect or try to guess what happens next, it can ruin the story if I try to. Still like the characters and the story, the Kim's may be my favorite. Can't wait to see what happens to Kera next.
This seriss is about a young woman who through growing up learned that she was a witch. She found a book about being a witch and with trial and error taught herself. She wenton t0 become one of the strongest in history. This is a tale about lifes trials and finding out that with friends you can accomplish anything.
So the many plots and sub-plots of the series came to a head in this book. More humor and edge of your seat action. Glad to see that the story will continue but sad that now I must wait until February before it will be available.
I thought this might be a trilogy arc as the way it was going, but it seems things might continue differently and im in two minds about the timing of it all. Either ways i was having an enjoyable read even if it was too a different ending.
Didn't see this conclusion coming and that's always such a blessed surprise! Really glad to see there are more books on the way! Howard S (The S stands for Super Fan)
Kera is coming into her own as a witch. But she's got gangsters trying to take her out and someone else coming after her, potentially to take away her power. This appears to be the final book in the first story arc. Kickass story and still quite a few laughs
Really weak storyline, you can skip book 2 completely and still pick up all the storylines. It's a one book storyline made into 3books and not done well.
As you read the last book in the trilogy all elements are beginning to come together not in a HEA but as they must to ensure we have not heard the last from Motorcycle Man,
Find an interesting world with a few different moving pieces Dash the characters are intriguing, relentless integrity is very refreshing, and the story world is engaging. Some of the fight sequences are in adequate but the overall journey is very fun
Loved this latest addition to the series and I look forward to the next trilogy. Great characters with realistic situations and I loved the slower pace of the storyline. It was nice to see the doubts of or heroine and still have the kick ass action.
Another great badass kick-ass instalment! Great plot twists leading the well rounded characters to an explosive conclusion. I can't wait for the next one!
The different stories combined, the sorta conclusion was good. I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series. Looking at all of them so far, book one was the slowest, but they are all good.
Kera is learning how to use her new powers with the help of the Kim's. James and LeBlanc haven't yet discovered that they are not as smart as they think they are. Can't wait for book 4 to come out.
The final book of this trilogy had a few surprises and I can't say all of them were great. All in all it was a good read but I am itching for more ANF February seems like a long way off.
A is a new witch in LA and is using her powers for good. The gangs in the area do not appreciate her activities and put a hit on her. While she protects herself she removes her adversaries. Awaiting her continuing adventures.
At least for now, the hunting has ended. The baddies are vanquished, and the chance of romance has returned. A good read, I finished with out stopping.
