Rancher Moses Brenner needs to decide whether to stay working on his adoptive grandfather's ranch or pursue a new career. He leaves the ranch for a week to travel to western Kansas, hoping to find the graves of his parents, who were victims of a wagon train attack twenty years ago.
Faith Geller's life has been overshadowed by the graveyard in her family's pasture. She was too young to remember the attack that left several people, including some her own family, buried there, but it still haunts her aging widowed father. Faith dreams of leaving her childhood home, but she needs to stay to take care of her father, their ranch, and a motherless infant temporarily in her care.
When Moses Brenner arrives to visit the graveyard and ask questions, Faith’s father's memories of the past resurface, causing problems for everyone. As Moses stays on the ranch to help out, the couple realize they are attracted to each other. But facts about their families being in the same incident could ruin a potential future together.

Looking for a book to read, I ran across this book. The blurb was interesting, so I hit download and here I am. I just finished and am filled with passion for this young couple.
A young man rides across a pasture that is reportedly the burial site for people killed in an accident years before. These people were traveling in a wagon train that was attacked by Indians. The owner of the property had long ago dug graves and buried the 20 or so travelers killed in the attack. The owner was now an elderly man with a memory that was no longer sharp but he and his daughter were able to show the man treasured possessions from the wagon which included family Bibles that had survived the fire that burned the wagons. Here he found his parent's family. What a treasure indeed. He stayed on with the man, his daughter, and a baby they were tending after the mother died for a man who dud not know a thing about taking care of a baby.
This young man and young woman felt drawn together. Would they act on the feelings for one another they were having? Read this book to get the whole story.
Moses Beller had been adopted as a child after a horrible Cheyenne attack on the Wagon train that his parents and a few other families were traveling. He and his sister Molly lost their parents, lived with the Cheyenne a while and then were returned to the Fort that was near the attack site, where they were adopted. Moses traveled to this site to search for clues to his family. He met Faith Geller and her father at the site of the attack and together they discussed the attack, but at a slow pace due to her fathers moving to and from the past without any warning. There are secrets hidden in her fathers mind that will eventually need to come out, but for the time being will stay locked away. Drama with a neighbor will also cause some problems.. This book has it all. A wonderful start to a new series unfolding before you! I read the entire book in one sitting. I could not put it down.
This is a story full of lots of human emotion. This is a spin-off from the Clear Creek series. and some of the characters will be familiar ones. This is Moses and Faith's story, as well as John, Faith's father. Moses travels to Kansas to find the spot where his family is buried as a result of an Indian attack on the wagon train his family was traveling in. The cemetery is on Faith and John's ranch. Moses and his sister were taken by the Cheyenne, and after living with them for several years, returned to the Fort where they were adopted. While visiting with Faith and John, it is discovered that John has secrets that must be disclosed. Moses has begun to have feelings for Faith. Will the secrets tear them apart or draw them closer. Be sure to read this wonderful story to find out. I know you will love it as much as I did. WARNING: It is a real page turner...you won't be able to put it down until finished.
Moses Brenner has come to the Gellen ranch to find out information about his biological family in 1893. His family was killed when an a Cheyenne party attacked their wagon train and he and his sister were kidnapped. When they were recovered from the tribe they were adopted by a soldier and his wife. But Moses has always wanted to more about his family and the Gellen ranch is the burial ground for the people who died during the attack. Faith Geller is busy caring for a father who is slowly suffering from dementia and a neighbor's baby, who's mother has run off. This is a sweet story of finding the truth about your past and deciding on a future.
What a start to a new series set in Clear Creek. Linda Hubalek has had my attention since Brides with Grit series. I love that her female characters always have grit and refuse to sit back and let someone else, in those days generally a male, take care of them. She writes of solid marriages and families with both husband and wife pulling their weight. Moses does an excellent job of taking the lead when he needs to without overpowering either John or Faith. Wonderful story.
This has to be one of my favorite authors! Her characters come alive off the pages (screen, in this case!!) and wiggle right into the reader's heart. Moses is on a journey back to where his parents died. The homestead where the small cemetery was located was neat, but needed much attention, and the older man who lived there with his daughter had dementia. Getting information and directions might prove difficult, because the information he was seeking was twenty years old. This new (to me) set of books by Ms Hubalek follows several previously published stories about Clear Creek, A growing town in Kansas. The characters' family history goes back several generations to the town's founding. Thank you, MS Hubalek, for another astoundingly goodread!!
The first thing that struck me was the writing style. He/she and him/her should have been used more instead of repeating the characters names over and again. It was frustrating. The book felt like one of those generic LMN movies where you can guess what is going to happen correctly like 80% of the time because their story lines are so repetitive. The only thing that surprised me was finding out about Ruth and the information that relates to her father at the end (I don't want to give the surprise away). Everything else wasn't a surprise to me because John continously said things that made it obvious LOL. I didn't feel the characters and the romance between Moses and Faith felt abrupt and without dept.
I really don't like the writing style. The writing/narration is almost child-like. It's as if the author feels the need to have the characters explain every action, ignorant of the fact that the action is obvious enough and needs no further explanation. Sometimes the characters explain every action to each other, and that seems simple-minded, too. Sometimes there is dialog where there simply should have been narration; dialog should be reserved for meaningful things. Also, sometimes the narrator perspective changes from paragraph to paragraph, and I don't like the jumpy narration.
In terms of the plot, there seemed to be very little lead-in or ramp-up to the 'action'--the main characters meet in the very first chapter and we don't get enough of their background before hand. I personally need to get to know a character, and be given some reason to like them--the story does not really provide that. I found myself not caring about them the further I read.
One good thing this book has going for it is that it is clean (no foul language or sex). But that's about all that I appreciate about it.
Moses travels in hopes of learning about his birth parents. They had died in an Indian attack upon their wagon train twenty years ago. Moses discovers more than expected. Before returning to Clear Creek, Moses has married and with his new bride adopted a two month old daughter! You'll enjoy learning how everything is revealed and new persons become family.
An excellent book of a man searching for his birth family. Moses travels to Kansas to find the graves of his parents killed in an Indian raid twenty years ago. He meets John Geller and his daughter Faith. Slowly John, who is having trouble with his memory tells of the families killed in the raid. Faith has been taking care of the two month old daughter of a neighbor. Things get complicated. The story is endearing and enticing.
I really enjoyed this book! It was a truly lovely story of losing and finding family. All of the main characters had tragically lost loved ones, but had proceeded to find new family members which were previously unknown to them. The story a!so tells of the strong belief of adoption for the children who have been abandoned, through no fault of their own. A lovely clean, easy read.
This was a interesting story and the adopted families were Good to the adopted children which is mostly unusual for step parents to treat the children like their own. This story was a loving family. The author is good I miss the Christian side of stories is why I only gave a 3 star but I do recommend it because no cussing or sexual content.
When Moses Brenner showed up at John Geller and his daughter, Faith's farm to see the 20 year old cemetery, he was hoping to find his parents graves. Little did he realize that within a few days he would find their graves, have an uncle, be married and adopt a baby girl before returning home to his adoptive family.
Nice, clean, fast read. Finding the proof of genealogy was to my liking. Nice book to read because the characters did not act like idiots like some writers make them to appear to be. (You know the kind I am talking about. The characters you would like to kick in the arse or slap them silly.)
In search of his beginnings he finds a family and the gift of love. It takes time and patience but the truths and mystery are discovered and lead to new beginnings.
A good clean romance about finding yourself. It deals with adoption, search for answers, finding biological family and finding love. The continuity is great from other series. I really enjoyed reading the story and look forward to the next book. I would highly recommend it.
I loved this book "Accepting My Word ",.and I enjoyed reading it very much. Linda Hubalek has written a wonderful story and I highly recommend this book! I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This is Mose's and Faith's story and I welcome the revisit to previous characters in Linda's books - what a haunting past Faith has and Mose is on a mission to find the graves of his missing parents - they both win in the end - loved this story - so very heartfelt in the writing!!
I love how this story connects to the others in an extended family tree! The repetitive adoptions only add to the connections! The same threads run deep, yet they are all individual stories with lives of their own! Linda writes like she's sharing her own family tree!
Great start to this series on Ranchers word. This was a very interesting book with a new look on life by everyone. Linda does a great job on each and every book she writes. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
I enjoyed reading the story of Faith and Moses. It was a different take on the usual boy meets girl story. I wish the story would have been longer. I would like to know how they settled in with the family. I recommend it as a good, quick read.
He goes back to the place where a massacre killed his parents to find answers. He finds an uncle and the truth of what happened. He also found a bride and a baby to adopt, a good trip!
Probably because the first 60+ years of my life were in Kansas, although on a farm in the northeast, this book touched my heart. I loved the story and the tender love of the people. Great to read!
Moses had been orphaned as a young child. He and his sister had been adopted and raised on a ranch. His grandfather encouraged him to seek answers to his questions about his birth family. Moses is fortunate to find his answers.
A heart warming romance filled with interesting characters. A good story is always a good way to spend time. This novel turned out to be just that. A little mystery adds to any good book, this one is an example, thank you, Jack
The story of Mose’s and Faith is an incredible story!! Lose brought them together but love will keep them together!! A little mystery, detective, romance and love!! Recommend to anyone who loves series!!
What a wonderful reading experience. Read it I one sitting. The theme of the book was different than any I had read before and totally true to what probably happened to many families moving west. GREAT BOOK!!!
Ever wonder what life would bring when you went looking for the past? Moses finds his old family, a new family, and brings both home to his adopted family and sister. What happens next?
You might see where the story is headed but you will also find yourself in this one. Secrets, forgiveness, loving, moving and taking it all in stride. I’ve been there and so have you. A great, great read.
