Whisling Island Weddings is by Julia Clemens. This series has really been good; but this particular book lacks the exhilaration that the others have had. It lacks a little something. However, it is still good. Of course, anything about weddings is fun to read about. Bess and Dax are finally getting married. They had hoped for an outdoor wedding; but the weather did not cooperate and at the last minute, the wedding was changed to Bess and Dax’s living room. The reception dinner had been planned for that room so it was quickly changed and the room was lovely with the white chairs and all the lovely white flowers. While there was confusion and chaos downstairs, upstairs Bess was calm and cool. She showed no signs of bridal jitters. The wedding went off without a hitch. The same couldn’t be said for other members of the Whisling Island group. Bill and Margie were still having problems simply because his daughter, Marsha was not accepting the marriage in spite of everything Margie tried. Her daughter and his other daughter, Lou, were all for the wedding. Why couldn’t Marsha be? Marsha had divorced her husband, Jared, and was pursuing her married boyfriend. Although they shared custody, Jared had the two children most of the time and was turning into a fantastic and more attentive father. He started dating Alexis, Margie’s daughter. Marsha set the children against Alexis. When confronted by Alexis, Marsha admitted she wanted Jared back to keep them a family. However, she didn’t want to lose her married lover either. How would Jared take this news? Piper and her ex-husband, Carter, were spending more time together since he moved back to the island and changed his job from traveling to a desk job where he could work remotely. He had come back because their daughter Kristie’s cancer had come back. This time, the doctors said there was no hope of remission. Kristie decided on living her life out without more chemo. She had accepted the doctor’s verdict. Her boyfriend, Brock, stood beside her and decided he wanted to marry her. After some thought, Piper agreed because of all the future things Kristie would miss, she could give her a wedding. This despite the fact that Kristie and Brock were only fifteen! These events and more kept the book interesting and readable. However, there wasn’t a big problem to be solved and the excitement wasn’t there.
I’ve read the whole series so far. I didn’t feel like some of the female characters were defined enough to picture in my head what they might look like. Some of the writing seemed to go on and on. I enjoyed the main characters and I would have been happy sticking with them and their family rather than reaching out in the last couple of books to just stretch out the series. So I am not interested in reading anymore. Kept hoping it would get better.
4 stars for Whisling Island Weddings. Finally Bess and Dax get their happily ever after and one more couple tie the knot. Kristine is facing death but cares more about leaving her parents. And what of Nora and Mack? And how will Morale girls make their dreams a reality?
I loved the weddings. I loved how part of Nora’s heart and dreams are coming true. My heart is breaking for Piper and Kristy. I’m saddened by the anger surrounding Alexis. All in all a great story!
I loved every minute of this book. To see the Weddings of some of my favorite characters was wonderful. Ms. Clemens has a way of weaving the happy with the sad and then throws in some suspense for good measure. Can't wait to read more!Enjoy!
I think I like this book better than any of the others because there was more happiness in this book instead of crying and break ups although there is one but it’s promising!
A wonderful continuation of the Whisling Island series. I look forward to the next book. Each book is fresh without a lot of rehash from previous stories - something I appreciate.
This book was very interesting with the stalker ad Ellis now in Julia's life. The problem with James's ex causing problems. The weddings that took place. Look forward to reading the next story.
