The last time sisters, Chelsea, Cynthia, and Chastity saw each other was Thanksgiving last year. Food wasn’t the only thing being passed around the dinner table. Lies and secrets were exposed, hearts were broken, and the already fragile relationship between the sisters was irretrievably broken. Now, a year later, Chelsea is ready to try and mend the relationship with her sisters. Covid-19 has given them all the excuse they needed to avoid each other, but with Christmas coming up, Chelsea hopes she can bring her sisters together to reconcile. A year has passed, and tempers have cooled. What could possibly go wrong?
Baby with sisters like these who needs enemies 😩!! The messy trio are back and there’s one that still doesn’t believe hell is HOT!! It was rocky for a bit but these sisters had a bond that cheating and betrayal couldn’t come between 🥴
The sisters have not seen or spoken with each other since all of the Thanksgiving drama that went down last year. Chelsea has appointed herself peacekeeper and manages to get Cynthia and Chasity to agree to celebrate Christmas together at their childhood home. All is going well and everyone is getting along until Chasity reveals a secret she’s been hiding and Chelsea forces her to come clean to Cynthia. The audacity of you beggin’ your sister for forgiveness while defendin’ your trash azz behavior is diabolical. Chasity gave Cynthia the biggest eff you and spun the block on the betrayal from the previous year. That knife in her back ain’t neva comin’ out. These sisters just can’t seem to get it together since their parents died. Their sisterhood has been irretrievably broken and, quite honestly, they shouldn’t have been able to come back from what happened. I feel like the author forced Cynthia to forgive Chasity and Ion like that. 😒😒😒😒 Chasity started an affair with Mike then, continued the affair after the divorce. Cynthia put them paws on her and told her, “I’m good on you.” But, when Chasity has a medical emergency, Cynthia just forgets how her sister betrayed her not once but twice and all is forgiven because “that’s what mama would want?!!!” Insert confused GIF here cause, IKYFL! Christmas Reunion was just as messy and toxic as book one but, IMO, that ending was unrealistic AF.
Chile the mess was still messing. The sisters have reunited a year later in hopes they can reconcile. Chelsea is still doing the most and noncommital as ever. There was no update on her health status, but she was definitely in her sisters' business. Chastity is still shady af and I was definitely side eyeing her 😒 Like ma'am why?! What kind of sister are you. Cynthia has moved on and is doing well, until she realizes her sister is still on bs. The karma was served as sad as it was, but it seemed to bring the sisters together again.
We got an update on the sisters. I just knew this was about to be messy AF just like “Soulfood & Secrets” which it was in the beginning then it got holly jolly towards the end. The sisters met up 1 year later to celebrate Christmas together but one of the sister has a secret 😬🫠 That secret is crazy because whyyyyyyyyyyyy! I liked how the book ended because just like their mother told them never let a boy/man come in between you guys.
The sisters are back after not seeing each other for a whole year and let’s just say there are still more secrets. Will they forgive and forget or will they walk away from each other? Another great short read. That one sister is just real trifling.
J.L. Sapphire is back in action with the wonderfully tumultuous sister trio in Christmas Reunion! Set a year into the pandemic, this book brings a holiday twist to the family drama. Sapphire's signature writing style shines through, ensuring a captivating read that pulls you in from the start. While this novella might not quite reach the heights of Soul Food & Secrets—with a few moments feeling a bit rushed and unrealistic for my taste—it still packs a punch of entertainment that's hard to resist!
Even though it’s a novelette, it felt so rushed. Especially the end. Like it was just a page of resolving everything. And Cynthia is still too nice and forgiving because they are raggedy.
christmas reunion picks up a year after the thanksgiving chaos from soul food and secrets, and honestly… a year later and they are still on bullshit 😭. chelsea really tried to do a good thing by bringing her sisters back together after everything blew up the last time they shared a table. covid gave them all the perfect excuse to avoid each other, but with christmas coming up, chelsea hoped time and distance had cooled things down enough to attempt a reunion. and for a minute? it actually felt like it might work. the vibes were decent, the tension felt manageable… until a pregnancy bomb gets dropped. if you read book one, you can put two and two together very quickly, so the shock wasn’t really the reveal — it was the fallout. by the end of the night, emotions were high, fists were flying, and somebody ended up in the hospital. very on brand for this family, unfortunately. my biggest issue was how quickly some things were forgiven. i understand wanting to keep family close, but chasity would’ve been on ice for me. there is absolutely no way on this green earth i would’ve moved past her transgressions as easily as cynthia did. that grace was… generous, to say the least. overall, this was a decent continuation — messy, dramatic, and stressful just like the first book — but it didn’t hit quite as hard. solid 3/5. if you liked soul food and secrets, this gives you closure and lets you see where everyone lands, even if you’re side-eyeing their decisions the whole time.
Let me tell you, if a book needed to be paired with the word “audacity”, this would definitely be the book because I just cannot deal. A year has passed since the “infamous” Thanksgiving dinner and sisters Cynthia, Chastity and Chelsea still aren’t on speaking terms. Chelsea, newly appointed peacemaker of the family, plans a Christmas gathering with hopes of getting the sitting on a path of forgiveness. Unfortunately, forgiveness doesn’t look like it’s in their future because Chastity is holding on to a secret that hold the power to drive them further apart. This fast paced story is entertaining, hilarious and comes with another jaw-dropping secret. I enjoyed every last page of this toxic, drama-filled story. Chelsea is still bougie, Cynthia is still calm and Chastity hoe- ass is till hoeing. I have no more words for Chastity! I just don’t understand the decisions she makes and I pray the author gives us a full length to explain the dysfunction that is Chastity. Overall, this story is entertaining but I don’t feel the outcome is realistic. Yes, I get that you need to forgive and move on but in this scenario, not on my watch. If you’re looking for a short story to remind you that desperation is real and blood doesn’t make you family, pick this up quick.
Cynthia is way too forgiving for me. Like girl… where was the anger? Where was the “I’m done with you” energy? Chastity would’ve had me reacting completely different because she never cared about hurting Cynthia in the first place. Everybody keeps pointing fingers at Mike like he was dragging her into the situation be forreal. Chastity got her own issues and zero accountability.
Honestly, Cynthia should’ve cut Chastity all the way off and told Chelsea, “I love you, but I can’t be around Chastity. I gotta love her from a distance.” Period.
It just felt like Cynthia never got the space to feel anything. No anger. No resentment. No processing. She had to swallow it because Mama said this and that or because she’s the oldest. That wasn’t fair to her at all.
Lowkey? I need another book with them in therapy unpacking all this mess, because baybeee… there’s layers
A year after Thanksgiving, the Cynthia, Chastity and Chelsea were still not speaking with each other. After Chelsea ask both sisters over for Christmas dinner, they agreed. Before the night was over Chastity had another secret to tell and boy was it a doozy. This caused a fight between the sisters and Cynthia storming out. After Chastity had a medical emergency the sisters called a truce and made a vow. I was so glad to see a followup to Thanksgiving dinner because it was alot going on. I still want more from these girls and see if they keep their promises to each other. Another great read from JL Sapphire!!!
Once again, these sisters did not disappoint with the drama. Chelsea, Chastity and Cynthia reunite for Christmas after being estranged a year when the last Thanksgiving they spent together ended in disaster. Family secrets were revealed that fractured their sisterhood, but as they attempt to reconcile in the midst of a pandemic they soon discover that forgiveness may not be as easy as they thought. I enjoyed this story. It was entertaining and I cracked up laughing a few times. It was good to revisit these characters. And a big congratulations to the author on her book to movie deal for another one of her books.
Hmmm 🤔, it could have been much worse 🤦🏾♀️🥴🫣‼️Honestly, I thought Chelsea was going to have a health related announcement 😰 herself. …& Chastity (simple math 🧮 ) wasn’t truthful with her admission to her sisters. …There’s only approximately four weeks between Thanksgiving & Christmas. She stated she was entering the second trimester. Meanwhile, hopefully the three C’s learned some valuable lessons over the holidays, implement the family values of their late mother and honor their new found commitments to each other. Because that “Christmas Reunion” was still a reckless & ratchet reconciliation 🤷🏾♀️🎄‼️
Listennnnnnn! Chasity have no loyalty at all. The fact that they kept forgiving her is why she was pregnant by her sister’s ex husband. No accountability. Idc what medical emergency she had, she wouldn’t have had my support.
Chelsea still ain’t learned her lesson yet either.
This was just as messy as the first but maybe down a small notch! Chelsea hasn’t changed but she calmed down. Cynthia thrived in her new relationship & Chasity had me shaking my head. She’ll probably never stop but maybe this is a wake up call! Good quickie!
