The god of hell wants me to be his queen.

I’ve screwed up. Big time. A day ago, I mistakenly released the evil Titan Chronos onto the Earth. He’s spreading devastation in his pursuit of ultimate power, and it’s all my fault.

The only way to stop him is to fulfil an ancient prophecy and unite with Hades. Problem is, Hades plans to rule in Chronos’ place, spreading the underworld to earth. He wants me to rule by his side, a dark queen to his dark king.

As much as I want Hades—I might even be growing to love him—I can’t be part of something so terrible. Underneath Hades’ dark exterior, I know there is goodness inside. My only hope is to convince him to turn to the light, because I’m afraid I can't live without him.

Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

Lol I don't know if the author was on a quick deadline, but this finale was a mess. Which is unfortunate, because the plot itself was actually good (dare I say better than #1 and #2 (I do)), but the writing was awful. The story was so rushed that at some point I wasn't sure what I was reading, because the author forgot to build tension and describe the actual scenes.

It's such a shame. This whole series had a good premise and the author is clearly creative, but it all felt underdeveloped. I'm pretty sure a little more brainstorming and editing could have done a lot.

Or maybe I'm just not the right reader. Anyway, disappointing.

Hoped that at least the last book will be a little better than the first two but unfortunately it was worse.
It was rushed, full of clichés, kept repeating what was already said in the first books and most of all I didn't feel Seraphia's love for Hades at all. She kept using him and treating him like a machine and at the same time saying she will save him but without giving at least a comforting word or show a little care for him, until the end when she suddenly realized that she loves him. Hmm🤨

My overall rate for the series is 2.5 stars.

Everything happens extremely quickly. The story as a whole is good, but you never get a chance to process what is happening or really see the relationship between Hades and Persephone evolve logically. It all happens in leaps and bounds. It feels like reading the cliff notes version but there is no full version.

Seraphina has had a lot on her plate recently, kidnapped by Hades, realising that she's a Goddess oh and lets not forget releasing Chronos the lethal Titan from Tartarus ! Not exactly the usual life of a librarian admittedly but falling for her jailer whilst trying to save the world and cope with her powers is enough to give anyone a headache. Still the stubborn Hades knows he wants Seraphina for his Queen and will literally go through Hell to ensure it. As Chronos begins taking over Earth the race is on to find the ultimate crown but will Seraphina save Hades from his very own darkness before it consumes him ?
This final instalment saw a few old friends returning but I personally probably enjoyed the more mythical characters that played a part. It's been a very unique take on the legend of Hades and Persephone told with panache and occasionally humour. As usual with this author we get snippets of history mixed up with legends which makes for a very interesting and imaginative story. As I write there is apparently more to come featuring a side character from this series but I for one really want to read more about Lucifer but will have to wait and see where the authors muse takes her.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Finally got to the ending. I didn't expect much from this series and it didn't gave much either. But it was okay read. The world building was really pure. But like I said don't expect much than it won't disappointed you.
The only reason I read this series was because I'm fascinated with Hades and Persephone's story. And this is the second retelling I've tried. Better than the last one.

This one was too much. Maybe because this book was the last one, so they put everything messy on one book. The chemistry between them was not good enough to the end game. Lucifer is my favorite character of all three books.

I didn't have huge expectations from this series. I wasn't finding a book I was currently interested to read so I had picked the first book which created even a glimmer of interest.
I have read a few Hades and Persephone retelling and have liked even fewer of them.

I am sorry but in this series, I just couldn't connect to the characters. There were no mind-games, no nefarious plots, no witty banter between frenemies. Even the romance felt dull. I didn't see a practical proof of any of those emotions professed over.
Hades to me felt like a real emotionless machine which would have been okay if he has managed to create an air of mystery and intrigue in this series but here it simply felt like the characters lacked depth.
Persephone... Oh so sorry Seraphia - felt like a kid to me. Her interactions lacked a level of maturity. The reasons she had for her actions were more suitable to a teenager. Was this book a YA? I think it should have been if it wasn't.

All in all this series wore me.

MEINE MEINUNG

Linsey Hall Just Keeps Getting Better!

Captured is the final book in Linsey Hall’s latest trilogy based - loosely - on the story of Hades and Persephone, only this story is way cooler and a damn sight sexier than the original.

Linsey’s characters may be supernaturals and even Gods but that doesn’t in anyway mean they’re not real. Hades, particularly has way more depth to his psyche than one might expect from the God of the Underworld, and the strength of his thoughts and feelings make him out to be a very interesting character indeed. That isn’t to say that Seraphia aka Persephone isn’t just as interesting as we’ve ‘watched’ and been with her as she has grown from a meek and fairly mild librarian into the woman she is now. It isn’t only these characters either, anyone who knows Linsey’s writing knows she believes that friendship is a major factor in good defeating evil and her peripheral characters are all interesting by their own right - although it does tend to help if you read more than one book or even series to fully appreciate them to their full extent, but it was good to see Lucifer become more than a happy-go-lucky playboy he seemed in precious books.

After reading her last series I thought I’d met my favourite leading characters and didn’t think I’d like the leading man more than Grey, but now, Hades and Seraphia have taken the crown, although I’m sure by the end of her next series I’ll have new favourites yet again.

Thank you for sharing your time and fantastic imagination with us, without your books the world would be that little bit colder

I love a good HEA.

I would say I really enjoyed this book, and the series was great, overall. I wasn't as riveted to these pages as much as I was the second novel, probably because the end was a bit predictable, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Really loved the progression of Seraphia's power. She started out not being able to do anything with her gifts, but evolved into a goddess with strength that rivaled, and maybe even outdid, two of the most powerful gods of the pantheon. Impressive.

The other thing I loved were the support characters from the Shadow Guild. I know some of them have books out right now, and some are being written or published as I type this. I'm curious about them after reading how they took part in saving the world. So, bravo! I'll be checking out more in this universe for sure.

Captured is book three in the trilogy of The Shadow Guild: Hades and Persephone. You need to read Infernal and Awakened before reading Captured. Although, I would highly recommend you start with Shadow Guild: The Rebel. You will get the world building, an introduction to Seraphia and a really great story.

Seraphia and Hades continue to disagree over how to defeat Chronos, as fated. They also continue to disagree on their own fated relationship. One thing they do agree on – it is a team effort. With everything going on in the world today, I freaking LOVE that aspect of the story.

I thoroughly enjoyed the conclusion to Seraphia’s story. There is a lot action but there is also a lot of emotion to balance it out. That said, none of the emotion feels contrived or forced. There is no “drama for the sake of drama”. Seraphia is a fantastic heroine who understands both why she shouldn’t trust Hades but also why she must. Her empathy towards people and all living things is inspirational and well balanced. She doesn’t play favorites or have pet causes. Alas, Hades wins my heart in this book. He has the most growing to do and he does it beautifully. This jaded reader didn’t cry or break out in goosebumps, but it was touch and go there for awhile. My heartstrings were most definitely tugged.

I can definitely see myself coming back to this story during my next book slump and relishing it all over again.

I loved the conclusion to Hades and Seraphia. It was perfect.
Fast paced, full of action, but also amazing moments between the main characters.
This was a really lovely journey and it got better and better with each book.

It’s the last book in the series and it was brilliant even if it was lacking a bit of action. For example, they practically strolled into Tartarus to get Hades and out again and the fight with Kronos was so unbelievable like you expect me to believe all of them to survive? WOULDN’T HAVE HAPPENED

I’ve made it through. This isn’t a series I’ll re-read. The main characters hardly grow. Maybe that’s what made it hard to enjoy the series? When characters go through the journey they change. We all do. But these characters in book three are the exact same characters we saw in book one. There was hardly any development until the very end when things end happily and even then, it seemed like it was so forced because the characters haven’t changed for three books. I’m okay with the ending, I just wanted more.

Satisfying Conclusion to a Wonderful Mythological Tale

My mother remained mystified for years that at 10 years old I was begging her to take me to the library so I could borrow every mythological book in its collection. I absolutely loved them all and memorized the names of the gods and goddesses. So to come across a modern day take on the myth of Hades and Persephone is utterly delightful.

I have to give great credit to the writer for the way she handled Hades slow development toward change. It takes far more work and skill to carefully bring a character along that way while keeping the reader glued to the pages..it was beautifully done and deeply gratifying. Persephone’s experience with Hades reminded me so much of being in a relationship with someone with HFA (High Functioning Aspergers): within Hades black and white experience and expectations of his world there is the conflicting drive for a higher understanding and feeling for it and she was able to show him glimpses of what was possible.

I also enjoyed the travel to the beautiful temples in Cypress, the inclusion of the gods Zeus and Poseidon, and other characters from Greek mythology, it is so cool to read about this in a modern story.

As always, I love the cast of characters from Guild City and the way they show up in all the stories. My only critique is that there could have been a bit more insight about Lucifer since he was in so many scenes yet he was basically a non-entity. His character creates some dissonance at the final battle because Persephone is so glad he is there but we are not told what skill he has to offer though we know how nearly everyone else was fighting. I still gave it 5 stars because I thoroughly enjoyed it.

***** SPOILER ALERT ⚠️ *****

When I started this book I was so excited to know what would happen and at the same time dreading ending it... but I was so obsessed I started yesterday in afternoon and now I finished it 🥲

I always loved Hades and I love reading retellings of Hades and Persephone but this story was definitely the one that showed more through time the change in his character. In no other story we could feel the huge conflict within in between light and darkness. The fact that in this one he gave up on everything, all he ever known, power and even Seraphia for her well-being got me ending this book with a smile and a tear in my eyes.

We all know how difficult is his relationship with Poseidon and Zeus and the scene where they trust Persephone that their brother has changed and go the 3 to rescue him from Tartarus was one of my favorite.

A perfect ending, absolutely perfect for his character and hers. 🤍

Again I can't emphasize how brilliant this author decides when to change POV, I'm absolutely in love with her writing.

Echo is my favorite pet but now I also found space for Cerberus.

I'll need time to recover from this story, how perfectly detailed, never ever boring and got my heart from 1st page in 1st book until last page in this unfortunately last of the trilogy.

We all can see their love through their actions and so many particular situations got my heart but in specific when Hades realized the crown wouldn't break Seraphia's curse and immediately accepted his fate in being tortured for eternity in Tartarus, he would do everything and anything to keep her safe and in the end he chose her like he has been choosing for a long time ❤️

I can't believe I finished the books.. gonna cry in a corner now.

Happy readings 📚 💛

Overall series 3.5🌟

This specific book - 4🌟

This is the second sub series I have read from Linsey Hall about the Shadow Guild. The first involving Grey and Carrow wasn't my favorite. I found the writing to be disappointing, and each book jumped plots. This series is a new take on Hades and Persephone which I found to be refreshing. The writing improved dramatically between the two sub series, and hopefully as I go on in her work that trend continues. Overall, I binged this series in 24 hours so I clearly like it.

What I enjoyed
🌟 multiple POVs- I understood Hades more having his perspective
🌟plot- the main plot is given in the first book with what Hades' goal is and that continues to grow throughout the 3 books.
🌟characters- again the side characters for this book 🙌🏼 well written and I felt the pull to know even more about Lucifer
🌟world building- this book built up the underworld and the different areas within well enough that I understood them but didn't over explain

What I disliked
🌟 details- a few of the adventures specifically in this book weren't detailed enough.
🌟gods relationships- differ from typical mythology which was fine, however it got confusing at points. I almost wish at the end some kind of birth chart was included for the Gods
🌟shadow guild- I understand why it's used in this book, however it wasn't a main focus and I feel like in the 3rd book the author tried too much to add it in.

Well ..
This last volume continues the lineage of the 2nd volume.
I'm disapointed ..
The 1st volume really pleased me, the 2nd less and this 3rd disappointed me once again.

It is much too short, less than 200 pages to complete a series where a romance had not been installed, it is not enough.
Their first time was balanced in 10 lines, there is no time to be afraid for the characters, everything is settled quickly.

Persephone had no character development until the last lines.
She does not understand anything, does not see anything, does not try to understand Hades and his past ... she frustrated me .. I did not like this character.
Hades is a character who has evolved a lot, who has been very well written and that we love. Well done to the author for this evolution (except the end .. suddenly we have the right to a I love you while 2 pages before he did not know what it was ..)
Too short therefore too fast.

This series would have deserved to be longer to be able to surprise us. It remains a good read that I can recommend to have a good time but it is not striking.

Pretty very fluid writing, however.

Good, but lacked tension

I enjoyed the final book, the pacing was well done, I just wished there had been more struggles. Everything the heroes did worked on the first try, they had the answer to every question almost as soon as it was posted. The emotions of failing were there for the characters, but because there was no struggle it, as a reader I did not feel it with them. Seraphia kept running out of energy, but then magically had enough energy to do whatever needed to be done next. Hades had both his wings broken but could still fly?

Every threat was just blasted out of the way like it was nothing. However the feelings development, especially for Hades, was extremely satisfying. It did feel a lot like he loved her way more though. He would give up anything and everything for her, but she would only love him conditionally, but it was okay because she was on the 'right' side.

I wish there had been more about all the side characters. Lindsey did a great job of making me care about them, all of them have pretty in depth backgrounds, but they all just kind of disappear at the end.

The First book drew me in, and I didn’t stop until the Third had spat me out. I recently rekindled my love of Greek mythology and all that Persephone & Hades has to offer. Or in this case Seraphia & Hades.
Linsey Hall made me fall for her version so easily, I wonder if she is a mage herself. I have yet to read their story reimagined in the way Linsey has brought to life. It was beautiful to see how they conquer themselves, each other and their villains on their way. You’ll love the witty human humour Seraphia brings & Hades deadpan manner. It brought the books alive as they learnt who they were & what they would become.
Although I wished to see a more complex arc & a more detailed telling of their myths, I don’t believe it was necessary, I’m just a sucker for that. It definitely didn’t stop me from enjoying every moment. I devoured the series in two days carrying me across into the new year. I couldn’t be happier to have ended the year & started the next with such a gripping beautiful series. I can’t wait to read more by Linsey Hall.

Seraphia is no longer bound to the Underworld by the pomegranate poison, but she still cannot seem to break her connection with Hades. Now that she seems to be under the same curse to be doomed to Tartarus and Chronos is loose on the world, dealing with her feelings for Hades have taken a back seat. But feelings have never seemed so important as they do for Hades now that he is faced with finding the true motivations for his desire for world domination.

I talked so much smack about the first book. But I was truly obsessed and feel so satisfied now having read this series. This is a tried and true enemies to lovers. Now I did not think Hades behavior was redeemable. And *spoiler* he never apologizes for his earlier actions. I guess he is making up for it? But I still feel like his earlier behavior needs to be addressed for me to be 100% satisfied. But I am okay with 90%.

The spicy scenes were hot and the romance was heart tingling. If you want a story you will not be able to put down, I recommend this series about overcoming internal obstacles and evolving as a person.

Serphina must stop Cronos from taking over. She will have team up with Hades to do so. Serphina has to unlock her magic to stop him. Serphina and Hades goes back to the underworld to find out what they need to do. Serphina will do whatever she has to stop Cronos plans. She is hoping Hades will not go through his plans. Serphina and Hades get closer as the work together to stop what is happening. Hades finds himself changing and questioning his plans. When he finds out Serphina is cursing, he will make a big sacrifice for her.

This is just a little bit of what happens in this last book. You have a little bit for everyone in this book/series. I really loved how the author wrote these characters while staying true to Hades. This book will pull you in and will be over before you know it. I am excited to hear there will be more books featuring more from these characters of the Guild. I recommend this book/ series, these characters are so enjoyable to read.

Seraphia's feelings and emotions were conflicted and Hades didn't want to budge intended in his nefarious mission. A greater challenge where the outcome will put everyone's life at risk. Both, Hades and Seraphia, had light and darkness, no doubt that Hades was powerful and wanted Seraphia but, was that enough for Seraphia? Interesting how Hades had to go a long way to awaken his feelings and find out what he really needed. I like these witty stories where the protagonists have to carry out internal struggles in order to succeed and survive. A well-written, interesting and entertaining story with descriptions and narratives that caught my attention, a plot development full of action, suspense, intriguing characters, some amusing scenes, lovely pets, danger, challenges, intense fighting, romance and passion.

Another amazing guild city story arc!

I love the characters Linsey keeps introducing us too!
At first I was skeptical of Hades and Seraphina figuring their stuff out, but Captured really tied it all together!
Tons of action and travel in this last book.
I kept waiting for 1 side character to step up so I have a clue as to what book we might see next!
I guess potions, a cat and a devil of a good time for our next adventure!

Spoiler***

My absolute favorite line from the whole book:

“You saved me,” he said. “Not just my body, but my soul. You soothe the darkness within me, making it possible to live with the light. Because of you, there isn’t just darkness and light. There is balance. You are the other half of me.”
Sigh, I was won over at the end and so excited for their HEA.

I read this series so quickly that I'm rating/reviewing the series overall, not the individual books.

I feel like my review criteria is wacky and all over the map, but it's 2020 and everything goes right now.

I enjoyed this series. It could have used a more thorough editing job (after reading this whole series, I can tell you the author's favorite words and phrases which really shouldn't be the case), so probably is more like a 3.5 stars. But it hit me at the right place at the right time.

It is not for everyone, but if you like Greek Mythology and grumpy/sunshine stories packed with tension, you might enjoy this book/series.

Note: I did not read the series preceding this one. I'm not a huge fan of vampire stories and the other series didn't intrigue me like this one did.

PG-13 for romantic reasons.

I enjoyed this series a lot in the beginning, but the ending of this series was just okay. There were things I liked and disliked about this series. I was really hoping that this final book would end up being everything and more, but to be honest I was left a little disappointed. This story was slow and a bit boring at times. I wanted more of Seraphia and Hades and I didn't get them together as much as I had hoped. I wanted them to be more united and they weren't. I wished the ending for them was better and although they ended up together, I think the ending could have been a whole lot better. The book could have been better. I thought this would be a story I could read again and again. However after finishing the series, I realized that this is a one time read for me and I don't regret giving this series a try.

I barely made it through the entire series. After the first part I thought, not ideal but depending on how this continues it might still get better. Part way through the second book I started skimming over the pages because it was just so boring and repetitive. In this final book the plot is extremely rushed and I was so sick of her harping on about how deep down there’s good in him. Likewise him being tortured about feeling something gets old really fast at this point. They just rush from place to place, every obstacle is almost immediately removed. At no point is there any suspense, it all works out exactly as you would expect it to. I read this because I enjoyed the first Shadow Guild Series and I still think that Guild city is a great concept with so much potential. However now I’m not so sure that I’ll continue with the other series.
