The Delta Force team is sent to tumultuous Turkey to protect the American Embassy from a distance, undercover. Craig “Bull” Bullington is assigned inside the embassy to provide intelligence and protect the ambassador's daughter, acting as her American fiancé.
As the daughter of a Turkish mother and the American ambassador to Turkey, Layla Grey, knows her place but refuses to stand by and do nothing about injustices toward women in her mother’s country. Hosting dignitaries by day, she runs covert operations at night to free women captured to be sold into the sex trade. Having a bodyguard assigned to her cramps her style and she chafes at the constraints.
After her enemies compromise her cover, all hell breaks loose, and Layla’s life is on the line. Bull is forced to go rogue in order to get Layla out of the country alive.

Breaking Free by Elle James Book 4 in the Delta Force Strong series. Contemporary military romance. Can be read as a stand-alone romance. Layla plays hostess for her father, in the US Embassy in Turkey while also helping the underground rescue women sold into service. Bull and his Delta team are sent to protect Layla during a political unrest situation.
Fast moving action and quick sexual attraction. Strong leading heroine that wants to help the women without a say in their future. I hate it when they go against the rules that are in place to help them. “Don’t go out alone”. She even acknowledged to herself earlier that she would have been caught without Bull helping! Ugh. Independent is one thing. Reckless is another. Anyway...romance. Happily ever after and an epilogue that promises a future.
I just finished reading this action packed book. I loved the story so much and the characters completely involved me into their daring adventure. Both the main characters were so courageous and brave. Their fearless attitude left me breathless. I read this book In one breath because I just couldn’t put it down. My compliments to the author who brilliantly added so much romance into a military environment.
Another story about two people falling in love within 24 hours. Seriously, can we not get an original story? Does every single couple have to find insta-love? It's old, boring, and predictable. It's also statistically ridiculous that every member of a Delta Force team finds love in the same instant manner, and the woman rearranges her life for the guy. We're just changing names and countries of action; otherwise, the stories are following the same cookie cutter formula, and it's disappointing. I don't want to go into a book already knowing the couple is going to be in love the first day they meet. I want to see relationships develop and unfold in a unique fashion, they way they actually do in real life. It's just not believable that it happens the same way for everybody on the team, book after book, and series after series. Do authors only know how to write one type of relationship? I'm over it.
recensione a cura del blog “Libri Magnetici" by Meghan
Ora, invece, stava mettendo in dubbio quella decisione.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
WOW! Just wow! This book started off strong and kept building into a big ball of suspense. I couldn't turn the e-pages fast enough. The only problem with that, the book ended (okay it was going to end anyways but a girl can dream can't she?!)
While this is a part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone. But I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND all of the prior books. This was so well written that I felt like I was right there watching the action play out. The author does a great job in giving just enough detail, that my mind was able to fill in the blanks.
Craig “Bull” Bullington goes undercover at the U.S. Embassy in Turkey. His assignment is to keep the ambassador's daughter safe in the trouble days that are in Turkey. Layla Grey, is half Turkish and half American. Her mother died before the assignment to Turkey so Layla is acting as the hostess for her father. She stumbled into helping young girls and women escape from being sold by assisting in an underground railroad. In order to pull off Bull being around Layla all the time (where other bodyguards have failed), they have to pretend to be engaged.
This all makes for an interesting plot. I adored both of the characters. Bull was just the right amount of alpha male Delta and Layla was a strong, independent (but not whiny) woman who give the lead over to Bull for her and her father's protection.
The story was written in a dual POV format. I loved that. Being able to get that glimpse into the characters' thoughts really helped me to identify with them and make them more realistic.
This is a sexy story but not page of page of the stuff without a plot to back it up. I would only highly recommend this to someone over the age of 18 (so I don't offend any parent!)
5⭐️ meritatissime come sempre.
Come andrà a finire? Non vi resta che leggerlo per scoprirlo…
Craig, “Bull”, Bullington is a member of the Delta Force team that was sent to Turkey to provide undercover protection to the US Embassy. Upon arrival, Bull is chosen to work inside the embassy as he is the only Delta member with “cotillion” education. After meeting with Ambassador Grey, Bull is assigned as bodyguard to Layla. Layla is Ambassador Grey’s adult daughter. Ambassador Grey recently lost his wife and does not want anything to happen to his daughter.
Layla has managed to come and go as she pleases in the embassy. She plays hostess to the dignitaries and guests visiting the embassy, visits the town orphanage, and anything else her dad requests. At night, she secretly escapes and assists young girls being sold into human trafficking. Layla knows her place as a woman in Turkey, but just can’t sit by while girls are being sold into a life of horror. Her dad is not aware that Layla’s work in the Underground Railroad has put her life in danger. But Bull and his team will do their best to keep Layla safe at all costs.
Captivating, intriguing plot twists combine to make this a quick but enjoyable read! I could not put this book down! Alpha male-check, instalove-check, suspense-check!!! Loved the secret passageways and the visit to the orphanage too. Great story that proves even a Delta Force member can find true love and make a relationship work. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
Breaking Away: Delta Force Strong Book 3 is written by Elle James. The book is well written and keeps you reading with its action. It gives a close view of Afghanistan from a close-up view. Kylie was a journalist who was reporting on the fighting in Afghanistan. She had broken up with her boyfriend Mac when she was still in high school because she wanted to pursue her career and he wanted to pursue his in the army. They haven’t seen each other since. Now, she is on an assignment to film the extraction of an informant and to interview him. However, things have not gone quite right and she, her cameraman, the informant, and her Ranger escort are in an abandoned building hiding from the Taliban who are checking house by house for them. The Ranger is wounded and Kylie is the only one between them and death as she now has the Ranger’s weapon. She manages to shoot three Taliban as they come in one at a time. Now, four have come in at once and she doesn’t stand a chance. Just as the Taliban is going to shoot her, she is rescued by a member of Delta Force, none other than her Mac. It is now up to Mac and his team to get them back to safety and then to protect Kylie from the Taliban as she is now on their wanted list. She killed the brother of a very important member of the Taliban and they have called for her death. Will their past interfere in getting her to safety?
We are back with the team of Delta Force Strong, where these strong very alpha warriors meet their match in the women that capture their hearts. This time the story belongs to team member Craig/Bull Bullington. He and his team have been sent to Turkey to protect the US Embassy. Though at first Bull is not happy to be sent to meet with the ambassador to be a bodyguard of sorts, when he meets his daughter, Layla Grey, he is smitten. But his job is to keep her safe not to fall for her. The life of a Delta Force member doesn’t leave any room for love and a family, at least that’s what he tells himself. As the job becomes more than that, and the danger to feisty and captivating Layla increases, so do feelings. From the start, the plot is engaging . One filled with action, danger, bad guys, and of course romance. Though a stand alone, if you have read the previous stories in the series, you’ll get a chance to visit with the characters of those stories whom you have come to love. Looking forward to the next book in Delta Force Strong. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Another great instalment in this series and Bull is the next one to fall for a woman. Layla is the U.S. Ambassador’s daughter stationed in Turkey and due to the unrest there, her dad asks for extra protection and Bull is the lucky guy given the assignment. His cover is portraying to be her fiancée and is to stick by her 24/7. Layla has another job aside from being a hostess, one that is dangerous and she does undercover. When she asked to help out, she has to sneak around, ditching her guards....but Bull is a professional and she can’t get by him or sneak away w/o him right on her trail. To keep an eye on her he makes it clear that the two of them will be sharing quarters....now that they are even closer, can they fight their attraction and can he keep her safe. I liked the characters, Layla was strong, confident and a no drama type of woman, which I loved. I also really liked Bull, he believed in marriage and was great with kids. The story flowed nicely with some steam, some action and suspense, along with great characters, it was hard to put down and I loved the ending. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Bull takes one for the team:-) Being sent into the U.S. Embassy in Turkey to meet with the U.S. Ambassador during a black tie event seems like a pretty cushy job, right? Not for this Delta Team member, who would rather be in the thick of adventures. But be careful what you wish for:) And when he is actually tasked with keeping the ambassador's daughter, Layla, safe because of growing unrest in Turkey....the adventure begins. Especially when he has to pose as her fiancé to maintain access to her at all times- like, what could go wrong? No shrinking violet, Layla definitely keeps Bull on his toes. This story is filled with diplomats, dignitaries, Turkish unrest , diplomatic protocols, secret passageways, sex trade drama, and a secret underground liberation movement. If that isn't enough for you, add a growing love connection between Bull and Layla, a minor Turkish insurrection, and a bunch of pesky traitors. Another winner by Elle James! Breaking Free (Bk #4) is fantastically fun to read. I received an ARC of this book to review.
Layla Grey is the Turkish Ambassador's daughter, living with him in the American Embassy in Turkey. Her father has decided that, since the unrest in the country has exploded in the past few weeks, he wants another guard on Layla, as she is notorious for slipping away from her other two guards. Craig (Bull) Bullington is with a special Delta Force group who sends him to keep an eye on Layla, much to her dismay. Layla has been working underground to help get young girls and women out of the country before they are sold into sex-trafficking. Unfortunately, Layla underestimated Bull, as he manages to follow her through the building tunnels that no one else is aware of. When the unrest comes to an embassy party, Bull not only saves the ambassador, but Layla. They then have to work together to help more people and stay alive long enough to save more lives and get out of the country. I loved this book. It was short, action packed, cute and fascinating!
Once again we are back in the world of the Delta Strong Team and this group of all alpha males need strong women women that they cannot bend to their will and this time they are all in Turkey As always Elle gives you a fast paced book that has all the suspense drama and romance that you could want as usual she touches on blights that affect our world but without it dominating the story line
Craig (Bull) Bullington isn't impressed when he is the member of the team sent into the American Embassy in Turkey to act as bodyguard to the ambassadors daughter He is expecting a spoilt princess What he actually gets is a woman determined to help right the injustices that women in her mothers birth country face When her cover is blown it will take all of Bulls skills to keep her safe including fleeing without the aid of his team. Can he keep the woman he has grown to love alive until back up arrives You will have to read to see
ARC for honest review with no compensation 5 stars
Breaking Free is book 4 in the Delta Force Strong series by Elle James and another suspenseful, heart pounding read!
Up next is Craig “Bull” Bullington, he and the team are sent to Turkey to protect the American Embassy while undercover. Bull is then assigned to protect the American ambassador’s daughter, Layla as her “fake” fiancé while gathering information.
Layla Grey, who’s mother was Turkish and her father is the American ambassador to Turkey but with the unrest happening in the country her father assigned Bull to keep her safe. What the ambassador doesn’t know is his daughter refuses to stand by and watch the injustices toward women in Turkey.
Will Bull be able to protect and keep Layla safe or will her night time escapades have consequences they never saw coming?
Excellent Addition to the Delta Force Strong Series
I think this was the best book yet in this series. Bull and his team are tasked with protecting the American Ambassador to Turkey and his daughter, Layla. The country is going through unrest and the Embassy is afraid of what could happen. Layla consistently manages to lose her body guards. She is involved in an Underground Railroad to get women who have been sold to human traffickers out of Turkey. This book is almost non-stop action and also dips into the heinous crime of human trafficking. Of course, there is a lot of romance and a HEA. This book is definitely worth reading as is the rest of the series if you haven’t discovered it yet. I was given an advance copy for an honest review. As I have said before, I honestly loved it.
Another good book in the Delta Force Strong series. Fast paced, exciting, full of action, intrigue, and suspense.
Bull and Layla did succumb to instalove, but given the circumstances, who could blame them? Bull and Layla were in sync, and his presence provided her a level of strength she was not expecting. Bull absolutely was not expecting to fall for anyone on this assignment.
I liked that Layla was strong, intelligent, and independent. I liked that she wasn't prone to hysterics, and although frightened, managed to keep it together. I don't know whether to add crazy, courageous, or brave to those adjectives, considering the work she involved herself in while in Turkey.
A successful mission, an HEA, a happy reunion, and a steamy scene or two. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
The job of an ambassador has to be really hard in a country that doesn’t believe in the same things we do. To join your father as his plus one has to be as hard when you know to the bottom of your heart that treating women like a herd of cattle to be sold in an arranged marriage or into the sex trade and then having the grit and determination to help stop the flow. Then to have a new bodyguard to keep you safe, knowing that you will still have to help the women. This is a book of heroism, determination, love, danger and the knowledge that it may be too late. It’s a great book that you will want to read front to back in one setting. I would recommend this book.
I was given an advanced reader copy for an honest review.
I received this ARC for my honest review. This is another action packed adventure for the Delta Force Strong team. This one is Craig “Bull” Bullingham’s story. Bull and his team are sent to Turkey to protect the US Embassy from the new President and his military forces. Bull’s mission is to protect the beautiful daughter of the US Ambassador to Turkey, Layla Grey with back-up by the team. Bull and Layla are like oil and water in the beginning but their relationship turns quickly into love. Layla is also involved in the Underground Railroad helping young girls a women escape from being sold into sex trafficking and dangerous assigned marriages. I think I liked this book the best. This is an exhilarating love story which includes adventure and excitement of the Delta Force Strong.
5 stars I received a free copy of the steamy military based novel Breaking Free: Delta Force Strong series Book 4 by Elle James and this review was given freely. An action packed story of protection, rescue and instant attraction with a touch of steam. This fast paced story features the southern bred Bull, the only Delta Force operative in the U.S. Embassy in Turkey, who finds himself the bodyguard and fake fiancé of the Ambassador's elusive American/Turkish national daughter Layla Grey and caught up in a plot of governmental espionage, human trafficking and kidnapping where the entire Delta Force team is needed to protect the Ambassador and his daughter, Contains some violence but the description is mild and the ending is happy.
Breaking Free is an action-packed romantic suspense by Elle James. Ms. James has delivered a well-written book and populated it with a fabulous cast of characters. Bull is Delta Force and is sent along with his team to the American Embassy in Turkey. Layla, daughter of the Ambassador, is dismayed to discover she has another bodyguard assigned to her. Bull and Layla's story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle, action and susupense. I loved this book from cover to cover and look forward to my next book by Elle James. Breaking Free is book 4 of the Delta Force Strong Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Overall Amanda rating: B+ Ok, so this is the third book of the series and this one was finally better than the previous books! I am so glad I chose to continue reading this series. The characters had some improvement as well as the plot. Once again my only issue is with the abrupt ending. I still feel like the author is in a hurry to finish the story so she skips several pages that have the potential to be good and make the story better. The plot and climax in this book took me on an "edge of my seat" wild ride. The characters complement one another very nicely. I do feel like the author spends too much time on "Delta Soldiers cannot have families". Again this book has a high rated, the story wasn't a retelling of something I have previously read a better version of.
The Delta Force team has another assignment. The situation in Turkey is volatile so the American ambassador calls for extra support and a Delta team is sent in. Craig "Bull" Bullington gets the assignment inside the American Embassy - guard Layla Grey, the ambassador's daughter. His assignment has some added difficulties with Layla's secret activities. I liked reading the developing relationship between Layla and Bull and their steamy sex scenes. With all the action and danger their HEA hit some bumps along the road but that didn't hold them back. I look forward to reading the next book in Elle James Delta Force Strong series.
I loved this book, and there are so many reasons for that. I loved that neither of the female characters was a simpering twit waiting for her knight on a white charger. I loved that the team showed a fundamental respect for the need to make a difference. I loved Bull’s attitude about his cotillion background – those musings made for some giggles in an otherwise tense and suspenseful story. I loved Layla’s respect for her father’s position and loneliness after her mother’s death. Oh, and I loved the check-ins - more giggles. I have no hesitation in recommending this book; I just wish it had been twice as long!
I was gifted a copy of this book, and the opinions are my own.
"You're not even my type." Words said by both Bull and Layla. It takes off from there. Layla is doing something that she shouldn't be doing, and Bull has no choice but to follow her and it's a good thing he did as she would have been in big trouble otherwise. The story takes place over a short period of time and the emotions are high from each person. Just the right amount of intensity and the right amount of suspense, and the right amount of tension. Loved this high impact story with one of my favourite Delta teams. He never even told her his real name! Nice conclusion at the airport with the signs, really well done.
Layla and Bull are perfect for each other, they are just as stubborn, ornery, witty and both are determined to fight for and protect those who can no longer do so for themselves...although they have taken very different routes to do so! What they never expected to find whilst running from assassinations, protests, riots, fires and corruption was love, but it finds them anyway. They may have found it but can they survive long enough to keep it? We all love the Delta Force Strong Team, who doesn't? But Bull may just be my favourite team member so far, although I cannot wait for Blade to fall...I am laughing already!
Another fantastically written book from Elle! I love me some brave, hunky military men! Bull is part of the Delta Force team in Turkey to protect a US Ambassador and his daughter, Layla during a period of unrest with the government regime. He is her bodyguard. She is involved in saving women and children from the sex trade putting herself in extreme danger. The president is corrupt. All kinds of violence is erupting around them. Super well written to keep you on edge. Great read! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
This is a great book. Each book in this series just keeps getting better. Each of these books are a stand alone but they are all based on a group of Delta Force men. They're in Turkey this time and Bull is sent in "under cover" to protect the U. S. Ambassador's daughter, Layla. There's lots of action, suspense, romance and entertainment in this book. I received an ARC of this book for an honest review and I loved it. I liked the hero, the heroine, her father, the Delta team and the story. Its a great book and I recommend it to everyone.
I love this series and the characters. Such strong Alpha men that meet the women they will love and show their softer hearts. This mission has Bull undercover as a fiancé of the Ambassador's daughter. She's not impressed as she has secret plans of her own. The country is in turmoil and their lives in danger. The plot kept me glued to my kindle, plenty of action, danger and exciting moments. Still time for these two to develop a sizzling chemistry. Will it be over with the mission? This story stands alone but you'll want to check out the others for character development.
This excellent read features a gripping storyline and likable characters. There is more than enough action and excitement to keep you feeling on the edge and needing to keep turning those pages. Layla and Bull made a perfect pair. I felt they were both fierce, determined and capable. I loved seeing these two fall for each. If you like a book that can give you swoon and thrills, you need to check this book out. I do not think you will be disappointed. I know I wasn't. I am freely posting a frank review.
