You Deserve Better: What Life Has Taught Me About Love, Relationships, and Becoming Your Best Self
**The Instant National Bestseller**
From the Bachelorette breakout heartthrob, You Deserve Better combines Tyler Cameron's life story with a guide for both men and women to building healthy relationships in the tricky world of modern dating, proving why he's the male feminist we never knew we needed.
Tyler Cameron impressed fans on The Bachelorette with his ability to discuss difficult topics with a level of emotional intelligence perhaps never seen on reality television. Things like consent and boundaries, respect for women and their decisions, the roots of toxic masculinity in insecurity, and more, he espoused with confidence and genuineness.
Tyler seems like a unicorn. He got the world's attention simply by demonstrating a full grasp of respect and no fear of vulnerability and honesty. But shouldn't this be the norm? In this book, Tyler shows that every person deserves a partner who understands and values them, with advice on how to seek out someone like this and how to behave like this for your own someone.
Part memoir, part how-to guide for anyone lost in the world of modern dating, and interspersed with practical tips on how to find and foster a meaningful relationship, You Deserve Better shows readers how Tyler C. became Tyler C., the story his fans are dying to know.

As a longtime member of Bachelor Nation, I knew that I had to read Tyler C's book. I have been watching for 7 or 8 years at this point and he is one of my favorite contestants of all time (coming in just behind Peter K. from Rachel's season). With that being said, this memoir really disappointed me. I was hoping that Tyler would give us more behind the scene details about his time on the television show, but the majority of the title was about his life pre-Bachelorette. In addition to this, the writing was really repetitive and boring. I'm sure other Bachelor fans will pick this one up, but if you don't watch the show/didn't watch Hannah Brown's season, I wouldn't recommend reading this title.

Not good, but he has a nice voice so 🤷🏻♀️

Tyler Cameron brings his readers through his life journey leading up to, and after, his appearance on "The Bachelorette." This book is not your typical bachelor nation gossip. It moves away from that and offers so much more. Sure, readers will find the typical mentions of the show, but the mentions are layered with more in-depth insight into Cameron's character rather than throwing any one under the bus. It is interesting that the book is written with the dual perspectives - one from his point of view and then the others from the point of views of his closest friends and family - that shed light on his persona. Although there is some repetition throughout the book, Cameron's voice and passion rings true throughout the pages as he describes the various relationships in his life. Relationships that come in all shapes and sizes - friends, lovers, family members. It is a quick, easy, read; one that makes readers feel like they are sitting down and having a heartfelt conversation with Cameron. Filled with tidbits of insight, and the occasional advice, this is a book for everyone. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the e-ARC. Keep an eye out for this book when is hits shelves on July 27th, 2021. Remember, it is what it is - don't expect high quality writing here. It's just an ordinary man writing his story in an extraordinary way. For that, the book is a 5 star love affair for me.

I've been a fan of Tyler's since his appearance on Hannah B's season of The Bachelorette. He seemed so genuine and truly there for the right reasons (IYKYK 🤣).
I listened to this one on audio and enjoyed listening to Tyler tell his story in his own words. Tyler shares about his upbringing, his family, his football career, his time on the show, and his biggest takeaways and lessons learned from all. His closest friends and family also wrote sections about the Tyler they know, which was neat to hear, especially since so many things in his life are sensationalized by the media.
I don't think he shared anything earth shattering, necessarily, and don't think that many non-Bachelor fans would get a ton out of it, but I still enjoyed listening to this quick read. Go in knowing it's written fairly basic as obviously Tyler doesn't have a writing background.

If you want to read a wannabe motivational guru write all his thoughts in a book in the most common fusing version of their life timeline this is for you! It needs to be cut in half to get rid of the gratuitous praise from the author about himself and the blurbs from real people in his life that are just supposed to help you like Tyler more. In fact I like Tyler less after this book. Either his ghostwriter thinks Tyler is an idiot or Tyler actually has no writing skills, but this book is written with the same tone and skill of a B level high school essay. Bonus: there is egregious use of the F word.

3.5 stars — I liked it. Thank you to Dutton for the advance copy via Goodreads’ giveaways. I did enjoy a look at his life and motivations. It was a tad redundant and all the football stuff was not my cup of tea. After reading this, Tyler seems like a caring, honest, hard-working guy. He seems to have learned many lessons in life at such a young age and is taking his “Bachelorette fame” and making the most of it helping people wherever he can.

Not the best written book but I was entertained the entire time and that’s all you can ask for

Very okay. This was more of a “self help” book about how Tyler has dealt with some of his challenges and I was hoping for a “tell all” style book. No tea about what happened with Gigi Hadid?!?! Still not an awful read, Tyler paints himself as a good guy.

Why did I read this book as a happily married woman? Well the answer is… TYLER C. Lol. However, I don’t recommend this book to anyone. Maybe for big Bachelor nation fans. It was fun to hear a little bit about Tyler’s life. I was impressed by his hard work and his accomplishments previous to the bachelorette. He is a cute feminist and I did enjoy his chapter on consent and sex 😳 however the book felt too much like a motivational speaker and it was NOT IT. Not to mention listening to him as the narrator was painful. I.E: not great expression, and saying the word “ex-specially”.

Honestly the book made me like him less. It's nothing special and just another cash grab it seems to me :(

Lmao I think this book made me like him less.

I’m not sure if Tyler thinks this is supposed to be a self help book or a memoir? I’m taking it as a memoir because he talks a lot about his life, which are the parts I enjoy. I think he is capable of giving good advice but he’s not a licensed therapist so I think he should save the self help spiel for his podcast. Otherwise, I very much enjoyed listening to him read his book. He has a nice deep voice and the inflections were great. I never watched his season of the Bachelorette which I kind of like listening to his version of events without having seen it. I would recommend this to anyone whose a fan of celebrity or quasi celebrity memoirs. Tyler seems like a good dude and I hope he finds a wife someday, his family aspirations are admirable and adorable.

Finally read my man’s book! Further confirming how perfect and real he is in the way he leads his life with intention/openness. Definitely not the most profound book I’ve ever read, but easy read and simply written, it had good advice given his experiences in life and how he was able to reflect through it all. Humble king!
Although absolutely CRIMINAL (AND I MEAN ACTUAL JAIL TIME) of him to include his planned proposal speech to Hannah in there.
“There’s no hate in my heart for anybody.” <3
“Rejection may seem like a dead end, but it’s also the birth of something new.”

3.4 - I listened to this as an audio book and so it was kind of funny listening to Tyler talk about this type of advice. I love the letters that were included from his family and friends, I think those were the best parts. Some points were very cringey (he kept quoting Drake and Juice Wrld lol) and there was 0 tea, but that wasn't the point. I liked how it was more about Tyler's life and relationships and him as a person. Big TC fan before, still a TC fan after.

The book started out a but slow for me, but it got a lot better by the end. At the beginning, I thought Tyler was perpetually too pessimistic. But I loved learning more about his family life growing up. I also loved all the chapters where people close to him wrote snippets about what Tyler was truly like. It was nice to see what everyone who truly knew him thought about him as a sort of behind the scenes.

So funny thing is I actually won this book in a giveaway lol! Reading after the Hannah brown book only felt right! I absolutely love Tyler Cameron, but this book was HARRRRAAABLE! It felt like he wrote a book because Hannah did. It also made me laugh because every other chapter or so was written by someone who knew him (friends, brothers, old teachers) and it felt very much like he was seeking validation from them. Weird! I mean I still enjoyed it, but it just was not good 😂

Better than I thought it would be... I was skeptical of a single guy giving relationship advice, but it was pretty good life advice. I loved the chapters written about him by other people but thought it was wierd he read them.

Fun read! He seems like a great guy. Very encouraging to know there are people like Tyler still out there in the world! This read was filled with some great life advice that can be as casual or as serious as you’d like it to be.

Admittedly a HUGE Tyler C fan!!!!!! Not the best book I’ve ever read, but I think this book gives single gals hope that there are great men out there! You can tell he wrote this and I think that makes it special and worth the read!

DNF. Sorry, Tyler. I still love you, but when you said you had a life changing realization because of a Drake lyric, I had to stop soon after.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.9 - this memoir also mimicked a help self book. Good perspective on the ebbs and flows of life. Highlighting challenges with rejection, loss, and love while also focusing on the highs in life and truly making the most of your life. Some parts of the book were cheesy.

I just love him and everything he is about 🤍

This book was so bad that I wish I could leave it 0 stars. The book is all over the place and at times seems repetitive. He has a nice voice though, so that’s what the one star is for.

It wasn’t great. I think the intention came from a good place. I struggled to finish it.

I had to stop reading this book.. it was all over the place and a snooze fest

Remember when Instagram was just people posting inspirational quotes? Take all of them and put them together in one book and that is this book. At the same time, did I expect more from Tyler C’s book? No, no I did not. However with no juicy stories about his time on the Bachelor, I can’t give this a better rating.

I was never that big of a Tyler Cameron fan. It wasn't that I disliked him; it's that The Bachelorette didn't do much to show much of his personality during Hannah B's season of The Bachelorette, at least not enough secure him as a personal favorite contestant. However, I do love a good autobiography, and I got to learn a lot about what made him the person he is today. He spoke of family issues growing up, learning from mistakes, the importance of focusing on people you love and putting effort in being your best self, and striving towards carving a better future, one step at a time. Listening to this audiobook came at a time when I was having trouble dealing with personal issues that he offered a different perspective to, and it really has helped me to let go of petty arguments with loved ones to make room for what is most important. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it funny, emotional, and overall an entertaining and enjoyable read.

I stopped watching the Bachelorette after Hannah Brown’s season. I initially found the show because I was intrigued by Emily Maynard losing her fiancé in a plane crash and then finding out she was pregnant. I then loved Sean’s season, but the show was always a little too trashy, especially with shallow young people claiming to be Christians and acting no different from others who did not have a professed faith.
Tyler caught my attention because he respected Hannah’s “no” and started an entire conversation about consent that desperately needed to be had, right after a time where my “no” was not respected, and I was bullied severely for calling him out and demanding accountability.
Years later, the book was $3 on Google Play books and I had a gift card.
A “Christian” man heavily pursued my husband and I for a year and then dropped us. I tried believing the best of him in spite of what my gut was telling me for several years. I only now have the full picture and clarity, and this book showed up after forgetting all about the show.
Tyler is admirable. I will always have a soft spot for hard training football players.
But he also admits to “hooking up” in college, so many times that he treats it as meaningless, even advising his brothers at the end of the book that “there’s nothing wrong with it as long as there is communication and respect.”
He talks about his first time. High school, if I’m remembering correctly. She cried. He felt confused.
Later, he talks about men who don’t respect a woman’s “no” and how he can’t understand it. I think it would be hard for someone with as many platonic girlfriends and as high a “body count” as he must have.
I liked reading from his friends, family members, and teachers. The word “genuine” was repeatedly used. I found his work ethic, what’s mine is yours, taking care of people definition of masculine that he writes about to be refreshing. One of his mantras was a Bible verse, and he had no idea. It was fascinating reading about his parent’s marriage and divorce, his Dad’s illness, and his Mom’s unexpected death. He is an incredibly hard worker and a servant. And good to his fans who ask for pictures.
I’m not really sure why I read this, and pretty quickly at that, in 2026, but I’m glad I did.
I liked hearing from someone so different from me, with a few odd similarities.

As I was reading “You Deserve Better,” I couldn’t help but ask myself if the author, Bachelorette star Tyler Cameron, was telling a mostly female readership demographic that they should look elsewhere instead of perhaps messaging him on his 2.1 million Instagram follower social media account for a potential hookup or date.
Tyler immediately conjures up the image of the Hollywood actor, Sean Penn and he seems to tick off all the boxes for what women would use for a sex object: good looks, MBA, general contractor and NFL bound football player. One of his best friends says in the book that the only thing wrong with him are his smelly farts. Tyler embraces the “hustle culture” and has always had a strong work ethic as a general contractor which is what he was doing before his break on The Bachelor.
There were times where I was kinda bothered reading this book especially the chapters where he says that he always asks permission every step of the way with women in the bedroom keeping all lines of transparency and communication clear. He was lauded “The Feminist Bachelor” after respecting Bachelorette contestant Hannah Brown who tells him that she doesn’t want to have sex in the fantasy suite.
You further wonder about Tyler when he goes on to say that he now only keeps company with women as friends — going to get manicures, pedicures and waxing himself. I don’t know if he still suffers from confidence issues because he has yet to settle down with a woman and states that the world is just a bad place.
This book kept me reading and I enjoyed it overall. It must have been extremely hard for Tyler to overcome the loss of both of his parents at the tender age of around fifteen.
