I'll admit, I probably wouldn't have picked up this book if I weren't from the same small Iowa hometown as the author went to school. But I am glad I did.
The "Butcher" moves to this small Iowa town and little by little things start to change. But since the secretive butcher is an "outsider" in the view of the residents some want to see him return to where he came from.
This character-driven novel is a delightful read, whether you are from a small town or not. The author brings the characters to life and you feel that you know each person.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series, which by the way is BAKER and is currently available.
The title immediately caught my curiosity. The story is set in a small town. It had good character development of all the people. It was a page turner to see how things worked out with each of the characters. Lots of good humor and insightful comments.
Set in small town Amicable Iowa- a stranger rolls into town. He upsets the quiet "stability and peacefulness" of the town with his ability to read people. But will this help or hinder the townsfolk?
