This was a really in-depth, impressive book. Beginning with the first homo sapiens, and concluding with information on the climate crisis, this book took you on a journey through history. As you read through the book, it highlights important milestones, like the development of the wheel, and industrial inventions. Each section also began with a timeline that covered the major events that that section of the book covered.

The information was far reaching, covered a lot of topics, but also provided little known details. One of the things that really stood out to me was how cave paintings were made, the straw like device that the people used to blow the paint onto the cave walls. It was ingenious for it's time.

The illustrations were extraordinary. From artistic drawings depicting early history, to photographs, maps and other images the topics were brought vividly to life. Seeing the images alongside the text really showed what the text was describing.

A fascinating, highly absorbing book.

The books is too subjective. For exmple, there is no Rape of Nanking. Seems Chinese did do nothing apart from fighting each other during the World War II.
