This is a simple comic about simple foxes. They don't know much, but they know what love is.
Foxes in Love is a heartwarming and humorous collection of comics exploring family, life, and relationships, told by two foxes living their lives together.
I discovered FOXES IN LOVE online during the pandemic, and it was a different sort of medicine to tide me over while I waited (and am still waiting, as of this writing) for my COVID vaccination. Every panel is a dose of humor, positivity, inclusivity, and a healthy example of love. Toivo Kaartinen's VOLUME 1 bundles 101 pages worth of that goodness in a slim paperback that makes for a fun and uplifting afternoon of reading.
This is an adorable collection of comics dealing with relationships, mental health, and handling the Real World. If you're curious to see if you would like these comics, check out Foxes in Love on Twitter and see for yourself. For me, they are very relatable on so many levels, and yet the difficult issues are approached in a way to still make them cute comics, and enjoyable to read.
I am a big fan of Toivo’s. I’ve followed the Foxes in Love Instagram account for just about forever. I was so excited to learn a book has been compiled.
Full of the comics I’ve loved over the years, along with some new ones, I love having this book on my shelf.
These adorable foxes are so relatable and I often share the comics with MyHusband – we are each Green and Blue interchangeably, depending on the situation.
Toivo Kaartinen's FOXES IN LOVE is about anyone in love, really. Charmingly minimalist cartooning (of charmingly minimalist foxes, referred to as only Blue and Green) illustrates simple pleasures, compromises, confusions, and day-to-day concerns of being in a romantic relationship, especially the early stages. Though there are some sad or bittersweet comics, most are some combination of sweet, funny, or heartwarming. (E.g., in one comic, Blue and Green are laying together, and Blue asks, "If you could go anywhere, where would you want to be?" and Green responds, "Right here with you, but with ice cream." Blue sits up and asks, "Want to get ice cream?" and when Green says, "Yeah!" they both run off in the last panel, shouting, "Ice cream!")
Blue and Green do have separate characters and personalities, but there are no real plot or character arcs. Any single comic stands on its own, and the record of differences between Blue and Green aren't too important. It will likely take the reader awhile to even realize that they're a same-sex couple, as this doesn't matter too much either; the foxes cuddle and kiss, and once or twice one makes a joke about liking the other's butt, but any kind of sexuality is minimal and PG. It will likely take the reader even longer to realize that the comic isn't from an American artist, because--you guessed it--it doesn't much matter. The author has a knack for capturing and portraying the universal elements of love, and anyone who's felt it will recognize it here.
My husband and I took turns reading this book to each other, which was an excellent choice. Doing the same with your own partner would not be a bad idea.
I have been following the 'Foxes In Love' accounts on social media for a while and I'm delighted that the comics have been released in book form.
'Foxes In Love' is delightfully wholesome and sweet. Its minimalist style allows the messages of positivity, inclusivity and hope shine through. The two characters, Green and Blue, do develop a story arc as you go through the series and I identify more with one than the other. The fact I can see my own relationship through these characters highlights how vivid they are.
This is a really heart-warming book that always generates a smile, particularly when I am feeling down. It's a great collection.
--- A cute, wholesome, and relatable comic collection. Every panel has a little humor and positivity but most important a healthy example of love.
A very comforting book that will make everyone smile.
This strip is such a treasure when it comes across my Twitter feed, and the book is, of course, more of the same. These foxes are sweet and caring and occasionally wise, and often laugh out loud funny, especially the kind of funny that happens between people who love each other and know each other very, very well. I look forward to future volumes!
You're probably familiar with the green and blue foxes that star in Foxes in Love, because Toivo Kaartinen posts them on twitter, Instagram, and tumblr. If you're not, you'll want to be. These are some of the most loving and caring comics available on the internet, with just enough of a humor twist to make you grin.
I first saw the Foxes in Love comics on Twitter and thought they were adorable. The foxes remind me a lot of my partner and I in our own relationship. I’m so glad to finally have a physical copy with some of the comics I love.
Adorable comic strip collected here in this small paperback. Really sweet comic featuring a gay fox couple and their musings on life. Philosophical discussion within it frequently reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes and reminds me that a lot of comic strips are really good at discussing philosophy.
Una preciosa recopilación de viñetas sobre el amor, los cuidados y encontrar a personas que te cambian la vida ❤️ Súper cuqui y gracioso, me he sentido muy identificada con el zorro verde. Deseamos leer la segunda parte.
A very cute collection of comics, read it with my partner in bed 4 pages at a time and it always made for a very lovey end to each day. 10/10 recommend, also the foxes are gay and queer representation is awesome!
As every time I read these comics on Twitter (which has been happening forever), these little sketches made me think all the way to my SO and me. I'm eagerly awaiting Volume 2!
