Three & Out

Rate this book
Football is everything, but love is the only game that matters.

Quinn

No one is more surprised than me that Leo Taylor, the most promising--and maybe the hottest--tight-end in college football today, is my boyfriend. Again.

Sounds perfect, doesn't? I should feel like I’m living a dream. But our long-distance relationship isn't easy, and sometimes I’m afraid football will always come first in Leo’s heart.

Maybe that's why when my friend Nate needs me in a way Leo never has, I make a decision that could destroy us forever.

Leo

I thought once Quinn was mine again, everything would be easy. Instead, we’re living a rollercoaster of uncertainty, complete with breathtaking highs and lows that threaten to break my heart.

When I’m playing football, I never give up. But when it comes to Quinn and me, I’m starting to think that winning might not be an option.

NOTE: I don't know why Goodreads doesn't have the new title for this book. It's now called Three & Out. I'm just starting with this because it was confusing and hard for me to find this book on GR.

I read the first book in this trilogy last year for the 2020 Coastal Magic Reading Challenge. It ended on a cliffhanger and I've been meaning to read Three & Out ever since but just never made time for it. Now comes the 2021 Reading Challenge so I finally made time to read this and…I wish I hadn't waited six months to do so.

OMG is this book fantastic. It's filled with angsty goodness and tried to break me in a couple of places. This one also ends with a cliffhanger but I knew it going in this time. Three & Out continues the story of Quinn, Nate and Leo and picks up where False Start ended.

Like False Start, the blurb doesn't mention Nate but he is so much a part of this story. So are several other friends as the trio has now moved on to college. This book covers their four college years and ends shortly after their graduation. There is so much I could say about this story but I'm afraid that anything I would rave about would give too much away (and there is a lot to rave about).

About 90% of the books I read are M/M romance so I want to emphasize how much I LOVE this trilogy so far. I'm not going to wait another six months until I read the conclusion to this captivating series.

Hanging By A Moment

*Spoiler Alert*

Quinn losing her dad was really hard to read. It just torn at your heart. There were a couple of times that I get real teary eyed. But the worse part was when Nate asked Quinn to marry him. I had a hard time reading because I couldn’t see thru my tears. I feel awful for Nate, I can’t imagine knowing your time is numbered. And he is just wanting a simple thing, to marry Quinn. But at the same time that is really hard to ask of someone. Quinn is an honorable person. Leo in this story I am not liking him very much. Again he is picking football over Quinn and I just can’t wrap my brain around that. But in the beginning of the story he was a better person and went to help Quinn when her dad passed. I thought he was on the right track with her. Their back and forth romance does make for good reading. Because it make you wonder if they are going to get back together. Will he wait for her? And could Quinn go back to Leo after Nate?

This book a rollorcoaster filled of Emotions Events and tender moments . I loved that quinn and leo got back together early in this book . I also understand that Quinn didnt want spotlight to be on her . She should have never broken up with Leo. That gave Nate a chance sneak on in and manipulate Quinn with his illness like I thought he would. I m hating on Nate because he is a jerk and he is not her friend at all he like in the prequel manipulates her with his illness. Instead of being a good friend and bowing out.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow – this series just won’t quit! The first book definitely gave you the truly heartbreaking high school experience. This book gives you a look into the college experience, with the twist of becoming a bit of a local sensation.

Quinn and Leo are forced to reconnect following the death of her father. How could he possibly stay away? Poor Nate, who has been her steady and constant companion, just can’t be what she needs like Leo can. The beginning of the book, while horribly gritty and “real,” gives us what I wanted at the end of the last book – Quinn and Leo reconnecting and putting the “small stuff” aside. The freedom that comes with college ends up giving them both a glimpse of what their future together would actually become. Sadly, this isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Again, these relationships have such a gritty realness (with the exception of the famous football player angle) that I was able to easily relate to their strife.

Nate, still tragically in love and dealing with his terminal illness, actually has a glimpse of a normal life in the form of living on campus. His roommate was a fun addition to the cast of characters and I can’t wait to see if we get more from his story. Sadly, we get more bad news in this book that forces Nate to be even more honest than ever before. Quinn, the dutiful friend, also has to make some tough choices. This ending might be even more depressing than the last one, but I’m optimistic that things will turn around. They will, right???

I loved the book! I've read it twice, talk about getting your money's worth. I love the author's ability to bring full dimensional characters to life. This book is hard to put down and when you walk away from the story the characters are still with you. The theme is family importance and true friendship since birth. It is about loving in the fullest degree and life. You will fall in love with the relationship between two soulmates, Quinn and Leo. I know I did! I am looking forward to more of the story with my favorite characters and excited to fall in love with some of the secondary characters in this story as well. Kudos to Mrs. Kandle and this wonderful read! Take it to the beach and enjoy some time for yourself as you fall into their world!

wow after reading the second book I had mixed emotions I also understood why but seriously Nate playing the I'm dying card was not a good idea and I don't think her agreeing to his last request was the best either but I did understand both sides..this book was fantastic and can't wait for book 3 tomorrow..

Weeping. I was weeping during this book. It was definitely a hard one. But the artistry of this author blows me away. These characters that she writes are as real as the tears running down your face.

Whhaaatttt!!

No no no, It can't end there!

You know when you spend a couple of nights, up until daft o'clock reading, you're on to an addictive story. The follow up to Quinn, Leo and Nate was just as enticing as book one and I can't wait to follow their story. However I have a few books downloaded so I want to switch them up as I read.

At the beginning you're hit with unthinkable grief, and honestly it makes you super thankful to spend more time with your loved ones. This leads to Quinn and Leo rekindling their love and I was cheering them on throughout. Wondering how this series could have any more books, because they were perfect. But like anything in fictional world, it comes down. It was a nice and reasonable come down though, where as a reader you see both sides of the story. Leo is becoming more and more popular which is ruining Quinn, because she stands in the way of the Lionesses.

Leo's rise to fame isn't just effecting her though, but Leo's bestfriend Matt and OMG, I was mentally screaming at my kindle about this.

I'm trying not to give away spoilers in this review, FYI.

regardless of how much of a jerk Matt is, no one wants that to happen to anyone.

Then there's the shock twist.

Leo and Quinn are on their break. Nate's health is deteriorating, and I imagined one thing and basically got a football to the face with what was really happening.

How Quinn and Leo go through that without destroying themselves I don't know. I couldn't do it or live through it, I know that much.

Needless to say I cannot wait to pick up where I left of. 100%

The book flows so smoothly and doesn't linger anywhere it's not need to. The progress through college for Nate, Quinn & Leo is to the point to some degree. As Leo's fame heightens, it puts pressure on Quinn and although you can feel their love you also understand their decisions to take a breather.

The Grim Reaper is busy in this book which I guess is good, in theory because it makes the book more ralistic and not some fairytale novel. These three are genuinely experiencing life as is.

After Leo and Quinn decide to take a break thanks to his popularity and the abuse Quinn receives due to the Lionesses life is good considering because we know that for those two it's only each other.

But when Nate's health takes a massive dip, they start to date. No sex, just the basics. And then his life expectancy is beginning to draw near and Quinn and Nate get married as a last dying wish.

This breaks me for so many reasons. Nate knows there is only Leo and Quinn but he wants to experience something he could never have and never would have. A life with Quinn and a real marriage.

I get that. I get he want's that moment.

But at the same time, knowing that Quinn loves Leo and that Leo and Quinn are going to be in so much emotional pain because of it is selfish and it truely is.

How Quinn does it and how Leo can allow it i'll never know. I can't imagine being that un-selfish.

This one was a winner! Leo, Nate and Quinn friends from birth, all grown up and life is throwing all of them curves. Quinn and Leo are in love but having a ton of problems and Quinn decides that it is best if they take a break for awhile. Nate who has health problems is in love with Quinn and has always been, he finds out that his time is limited so he ask Quinn to marry him and let him have the one thing he has always dreamed of. Leo is torn apart when he finds out.

This is quite an emotional rollercoaster and not just for the main characters. The heartbreak in this one I guarantee will bring out the tears. Quinn, Leo, and Nate’s young lives take such an unexpected and drastic turn that it’s going to leave you anxious for their story’s finale. Their dynamic becomes quite complicated in this part of their tale, but if it didn’t already have its hooks in your heart at the start, it will by the end. I know I can’t wait to read what’s coming next.

What happened after the heartbreaking ending of When We Were Us . . .

Three friends. Two loves. One choice.

Leo Taylor, the most promising--and maybe the hottest--tight-end in college football today, is my boyfriend.

Sounds perfect, doesn't? Dating a football star at one of the nation's top colleges is living the dream. But our long-distance relationship isn't easy, and I find myself wondering if the timing is ever going to be right for Leo and me. It's not always easy to play second-fiddle to football.

One thing I do know is that my friend Nate puts me first all the time. There's no doubt in my mind that he loves me. I just can't feel the same way.

The next four years were supposed to be the most exciting time of my life. Instead, they turn into a rollercoaster of uncertainty, complete with breathtaking highs and lows that threaten to break my heart. In the end, the decisions we make now could change everything for the three of us, forever.

***This is Book #2 of a trilogy, and it does include an unresolved ending. ***

I read this in one sitting. This is so emotional about 3 best friends. I cried, laughed, got mad, and cried some more. Quinn, Leo and Nate are very strong characters and their parents as well. It is so much I want to say but don't want to give it away. You must READ this book - Plain and simple! Very well written but does have a cliffhanger. So very real and I can not wait till Sept 27 for the 3rd book. Highly recommended. Thank you!

I just finished reading. I loved it and yet felt so emotional with everything that happened. I had no idea how this story would break my heart in so many places. My dad was killed in a car accident my freshman year of high school and when Quinn's dad died at the end of the first book I thought it was sad. Then in this book when they had the conversation and he left to get Chinese and never came home and the scene with the police just got to me completely. I completely understood the decision to stay close to home. I was happy Quinn and Leo were back together and Nate was good. Then meeting Zelda and Tuck .We need a book about them to get the whole story we need to know about their real first meeting. Now finding out Nate does not have long to live. So Nate asks Quinn for something she cannot refuse yet it breaks her heart. Then Matt makes a fateful decision . I just hope Tate helps Gia heal and find love . Cannot wait for the third book Quinn and Leo have to have the happy Love story but then we will have to say bye to Nate . So September I know I will stock up on tissue's and wine. This is a Wonderful book

Okay I very hooked at the moment. But it appears that the book here is split in two. Only because the book says one while the epilogue at the end says another. But anyhow.
In this book we get a look at some new and old characters. That make it just more interesting to what to find out all that's happening.
Leo has done it again. Making himself a bigger star in the game he loves. And although it's nice, it does have it moments. But what about Quinn, can she handle the pressure of what happening to her Leo the Lion.

Quinn is just about the same as you expected from the last book. Happy to be back together with Leo again. But things are starting to heat up with his career possibly taking off after college. Will they be able to make it through?

Nate is getting better from his last bout of sickness. And is starting to feel better. Only he knows that the inevitable is coming and may come sooner than he thinks. So he comes up with a idea that hopefully Quinn with agree too. So he can die a happy man. But does he stop to think of what it will do to his friendship with her and Leo?

Quinn, Leo, ans Nate have been friends for more years than they can remember. Quinn and Leo have been a couple, but Leo broke up with her a year ago while he went to college to play football. Quinn was devastated and still misses the love of her life. Life is about to get worse for her and she can only make it through with the help of her friends. Quinn and Leo are both headed separate directions but want to make a long distance relationship work, against all odds. In the end, the decisions we make now could change everything for the three of us, forever.

A wonderfully different story with an unexpected outcome. Reading about Quinn, Nate, and Leo and their relationships was wonderful as they leave home and move into college life. The decisions they make now will forever shape their futures, together and apart. The epilogue broke my heart, and the story leaves us ready for book three.

Hanging by a moment is book 2 in the Keeping Score Trilogy.

Tawdra has done it again! This books is full of different emotions that keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see how it ends, yet not wanting it to end.

The book picks up where When We Were Us left off. We all have hopes and dreams for the future. The way we dreamed our future would be like, does not always happen.

This is true for the trio of Leo, Quinn and Nate. The only constants are that Leo and Quinn are in love with each other. Nate is in love with Quinn. Everything else is in a tailspin and up in the air.

They are in college this is suppose to be the time of their life. Unfortunately life is not always like that. I can’t wait to read the final installment in September. I think I will actually mourn the trio.

I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions in this review are 100% my own.

Tawdra Kandle has aptly named this book as it truly does leave you hanging by a moment from the very first chapter. There is a full depth of emotion that ranges from sadness to happiness and back again, and you feel every single one because she has written this book in such a way that you feel everything the characters feel.

The trio that took ahold of our hearts in When We Were Us have made it clear they are not letting go anytime soon. They have continue to keep us captivated and feeling a full gambit of emotions. It's as if you are truly a part of the story, and not just an outside observer.

When We Were Us left me hanging by a moment waiting for Hanging by a Moment, and I still find myself hanging by a moment waiting for September's release of Days of You and Me.

A copy of this book was provided in exchange for my honest review.

The trio that is Nate , Quinn & Leo's story just keeps getting better . After a tragedy gets Quinn & Leo back together they split again , albeit after almost 3 years together when again his football & the popularity that comes with it again forces a wedge between them. Nate who's health has started declining takes full advantage & tries to get the girl hes always loved even if he knows she will never think of him as more than a brother . All through this series i have found Nate a great manipulator & hes good at getting Quinn to dance to his tune as he has done all his life but i also found myself angry at Quinn for making such a martyr of herself then been angry that life is so hard .Another great read from Tawdra Kandle that gets you seriously emotionally involved with the 3 characters & just like his popularity in the book i found Leo the most likeable of them

This book is not for the faint of heart when it comes to teenage/college angst. If Book 1 of the Keeping Score Trilogy gutted you - have tissues ready for Book 2. This is a 3-book series for a reason.

Things are not getting any easier for Quinn. The loss of her father is devastating even as it brings her closer to Leo and of course, Nate is still by her side. However, the romance of Leo and Quinn is definitely not going to be an easy one.

It is a testament to how good a writer Tawdra is that I can love this book so much without having the ending that I wanted.

This series keeps me hanging on for the next one - can't wait for Book 3. Here's hoping for the best!! "Still. Always. Forever."

Hanging By a Moment was the perfect continuation of this series. It encompasses life beyond high school and true love in all its imperfections. I really love this series and the way it flows together so well. The author has created a beautiful love story that will last the ages. I highly recommend this book.

The Trio is still together in this continuation. Quinn is recovering from a devastating loss and needs her two best friends to support her and help her through this terrible time. When everyone goes off to college though, it becomes a strain on many relationships. This book is filled with broken hearts and new friendships and shows the journey through their lives.

Ah, the trio, Quinn, Leo, and Nate...part 2! This was a good book. It did not pull at my heart strings as much as part 1, but it was still a great story. Life has definitely been easy for any of the 3 of them. Nate is sickly, Leo is pulled in 100 different directions, and Quinn has to choose between love or loyalty. I know there will be an HEA so maybe that is why this part did not affect me as much. I have to say that I still LOVE Leo, but I really HATE Nate. I am definitely looking for to part 3!
