Bletchley Secrets

Rate this book
1940: A cold upbringing with parents who unfairly blame her for a family tragedy has robbed Jess of all self-worth and confidence. Escaping to join the WAAF, she's stationed at RAF Holsmere, until a seemingly unimportant competition leads to her recruitment into the secret world of code-breaking at Bletchley Park. Love, however, eludes her: the men she chooses are totally unsuitable - until she meets Daniel. But there is so much which separates them. Can they ever find happiness together?

This was a really enjoyable story. The characters were engaging, with a happy ending to the main characters romance. Times were hard and the story brought that over well. The behind the scenes look at Bletchley park in WW2 was fascinating.

I've read this book in another incarnation recently and thoroughly loved it. Bletchley has been the topic of many books and movies/telly shows and I've enjoyed them all. It's a special part of British wartime history. Dawn's book shows thedepth of research so many other stories gloss over and, for that reason alone, this book is right up there at the top of tales about this place. Beautifully crafted characters, the undercurrents of love and intrigue are all there providing the reader with a story that remains with you long after after others. Exceptional engaging writing. Thoroughly recommend this book by one of my favourite authors.
