I am a licensed psychotherapist in private practice now living in Antigua, Guatemala. I am also the author of 10 self-help books.
In my clinical work I focus on helping individuals cope with loss, heal from trauma, find inner peace, navigate life's transitions and on helping couples improve their relationship.
My background: I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Smith College and a Masters in Social Work degree from Columbia University. Early on, I worked in community mental health in New York City later wrote, lived and practiced in southern New Hampshire for 22 years.
I, with my husband Daniel, have 5 grown children who live around the globe.
I enjoy singing and perform with local choral groups and community theaters.
I think this is the perfect book for someone who is new to meditative and calming techniques. It is also the perfect little book for someone who already practices these skills, and wants a handy refresher close at hand. I have previously tried most of the exercises described (with success), but there were also some that were new to me, and looked intriguing. I was lent a copy of this book by a good friend, and now I think I need to purchase my own!
In dem Buch "das kleine Buch des inneren Frieden" geht es darum, sich im Alltag mit Achtsamkeit und der inneren Ruhe zu beschäftigen. Man bekommt viele Hintergrund Informationen über die spirutuelle Reise der Autorin. Dazu gibt es viele kleine Übungen, die uns helfen sollen Stress zu reduzieren und entspannter zu werden. Das Buch ist in mehrere Kapitel unterteilt, welche kurz aber ausdrucksstark sind. So kann man sich als Leser und Zuhörer gut auf den Inhalt konzentrieren und aufmerksam zuhören oder lesen. Die Übungen sind leicht und nicht anspruchsvoll. Also definitiv für jeden, der seinem Körper etwas Ruhe gönnen möchte! Diese Übungen kann man im alltäglichen Leben überall und zwischendurch durchführen. Sie dauern nicht länger als 5 Minuten, was ich persönlich sehr gut finde. Wenn man gerade mal in einer Stresssituation ist, kann man eine der Übungen anwenden und etwas zur Ruhe kommen.
Ich persönlich hätte mir trotzdem mehr Übungen gewünscht, da doch schon sehr viel über die Reise und das spirituelle erzählt wurde.
Trotzdem ist es ein schönes Buch, um seinen Körper neue Kraft zu schenken, innezuhalten und sich mal etwas Gutes zu tun 💆🏼♀️
Loved this little book! I have already started using one of these practices frequently throughout the day and have felt improvement. I have also previously used one in the past and didn't even really realize that I was doing it. This is something to go back to from time to time and remind myself of some good practices.
An insightful look at Inner Peace with lots of practical ways to help us attain that goal. I received this book as part of the Travelling Book of Inner Peace project, from fellow blogger Sue. The project was originally started by blogger Donna at Retirement Reflections, as her word of the year WOTY for 2022 is Peace. She is hoping the book goes around the world from one reader to another, with the aim of spreading peace.
With 'peace' as my focus word for 2022, I've recently read several books on this topic. Ironically, the books that I struggled with the most were the shorter ones on inner peace. Although they each gave positive takeaways, I never connected completed with them. I cautiously feared the same scenario from this book. I couldn't have been more wrong. I enjoyed this guide immensely. I found it to be clear, practical and not too 'out there' even for me. Although a short and easy read, I took my time so that I could try the suggested exercises as I went along. Although I am not usually one to reread books, I believe that I will go back to this one again and again -- especially in bite-sized chunks. As well as being an insightful read -- I think that it makes a great gift. I have already purchased copies to share with others!
The perfect book to end my 2020 reading challenge. Inner peace was a thing that I wanted to have for so long, but never did. This book brought many exercises and information I’m gonna use in my life from now on. I highly recommend this book, it’s short and easy to read, it’s really helpful and it looks pretty in your handbag/bag.
Interesting and educational book, but most importantly — fun!
This little book contains a lot of knowledge on how you can become a better version of yourself. I'm not talking about the outside beauty, but the one inside us. Those thoughts that no one can see but its hunting hands always taking hold on our mind.
Perfect for those who want to start exploring our mind and soul, but don't know where to begin. The illustrations inside are absolutely beautiful and the quotes are a really nice touch.
I really liked this book. I've had a stressful time at work lately and have gotten out of some of the practices that helped me deal with that. This book was a great reminder of them and it's small enough to keep in your purse so that if things are getting stressful you can just pull it out and do one of the breathing, gratitude, etc. exercises. It's so easy to get bogged down in the negative stress of people around you...the exercises in this book help pull you out.

Popurrí de técnicas de atención plena, meditación, yoga y alguna que otra cosa interesante, junto a supercherías, maguferías y buenismo. Más o menos la mitad del libro resulta aprovechable, a mi modesto entender, por lo que lo recomendaría, con ciertas reservas, a quien tenga problemas de autoestima, accesos de cólera, sobrecarga de trabajo y ese tipo de cosas. En fin, que no está mal. Y el formato es ideal: bonito y cómodo.
irgendwie hat mich das buch überhaupt nicht abgeholt. ich hab mich an so ziemlich allem gestört. ich betrachte vor allem die einfachheit der aussagen in kombination mit dem auffordernden ton mit kritischem auge. leider konnte ich mich auch auf die meisten übungen nicht einlassen. alles in allem bin ich erleichtert das buch beendet zu haben, würde es jedoch nicht weiterempfehlen
El libro ideal para iniciarse en la meditación y en el camino hacia la paz interior. Me ha servido como un pequeño recordatorio de lo aprendido en terapia y también he sacado nuevas prácticas para poder realizar en un futuro. Sencillo pero muy eficaz.
This was a quick read with some good points for meditation, reflection and overall calm. With just a few tweaks, you really might just change your life.
