Shatter Me is the best book series and here’s why
I think Shatter Me is hands down the best book series I’ve read and I’ve read a lot of books. The Shatter me series has so many aspects that make it amazing, but I’ll name the main ones.

1. The character development through the books is really impressive and is something quite a few books lack.
2. Juliette, one of the main characters and whose point of view is in every book in the series, can fend for herself. Thank god! Juliette knows how to get a job done and doesn’t need someone to constantly swoop down and save her, unlike in a few other series I’ve read. *cough cough* Twilight
3. Aaron Warner. Period. Warner is one of my favorite parts of this series. He is my favorite book boyfriend out of all the books I’ve read for many reasons. I’ll name a few.

- I’ll start with the obvious. He’s deadly handsome.
- Although he is protective of Juliette and would risk himself and give up his life for her, he knows she can take care of herself and respects how strong and powerful she is. He has full confidence in her and reminds her how capable she is all the time.
- He really loves his mom. Warner, seems super harsh and cold-hearted, which he can be, but never ever when it comes to his mother. Warner goes through so much to try to get his mother well and puts her before people’s opinion of him. The first time we see him cry is when his mom died and it was heartbreaking.
- Dimples.
- He is beyond in love with Juliette. It is so special because he is closed off and cold-hearted with everyone else, but with Juliette, he is the definition of the best boyfriend. Ever. He is so passionate it makes me want to scream or cry or laugh or something just thinking about him. Also, I have no doubt whatsoever that he would kill anyone who harms Juliette. He wouldn’t even bat an eye. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, I’m done with the Aaron Warner part of this
4. There is an actual breakup and the people don’t get back together. Also, you don’t even feel bad when it happens.
5. There’s some comedic relief thanks to the character Kenji. His character is pretty funny and almost every interaction he and Warner have made me smile. (It’s not because they get along though teehee).
Also, I just need to give some praise to Kenji as well. He can be funny, but there is so much more to him than his jokes. Love ya Kenji 💗
6. Juliette’s best friend is male (Kenji) and they are just friends and only ever have been friends. I really love that Juliette and Kenji are besties. They have no romantic history at all which I also love. A boy and a girl can be friends y’all. Also, Although they aren’t romantically involved they still love each other and understand one another.
7. Everyone gets a happy ending. (obviously not the bad guys lol). By happy ending, I don’t mean everything is perfect, but I am saying that almost everyone gets what they wanted (everyone meaning the good characters). Also, although there was one big main goal that was shared, everyone still had specific things they wanted, which eventually happened.
8. As I touched on earlier, there is more than just romantic love in this series. There’s love between friends and love between family, which was equally as sweet as the romance parts of the series.
9. There are different races and cultures included in this series, along with different sexualities. This series feels like a group hug that anyone is welcome to join.

My list could go on, but no one wants to read an infinite list.
I love the Shatter Me series, It’s simply the best. ❤

I just finished this series and i feel so drained.

First of all, this was WAY over hyped. This is supposed to be dystopian but it’s literally just romance with a couple of people with powers.

The romance was alright. I mean the enemies to lovers trope is part of the reason i read this but then they were like ‘oh no i trusted you blah blah’ Also why does juliette scream and cry so much like 😐.

The whole war part, yea i stopped paying attention to it after the second book. There was like no plot here. the same things kept repeating and it was so boring.

Honestly, Kenji and Warner were carrying this whole series.

If you really want to read these books just stop after the third book because that’s were it gets bad. Like you don’t even need an epilogue (the actual one wasn’t any good.)

The Shatter Me series romanticizes abuse; click here for an ongoing, in-depth commentary about abuse romanticism in this series and others.

| Reader Fox Blog |

It must have been over a year ago now that I said I was going to be rereading the Shatter Me series in order to shed some light on the deeply problematic aspects of abuse romanticism that exists within the series. Well, I'd started but eventually lost track due to life and my desire to read books that were more deserving of my attention.

Last night I finally started.

I ordered physical copies of the first three books and the short stories that exist in between them. I opened Shatter Me last night and began. As of this moment, I have only annotated the first nine and a half chapters. It's interesting, reading this book again. I had enjoyed it the first time. Never in my life had I expected that the author would try to manipulate me into liking the despicable Warner.

Forgiveness is important in life, for sure, but I don't think it plays a role here. There are some things that are unforgivable. And honestly? If Warner genuinely wanted to develop himself and become a better person, it should have been with someone else. To have Juliette degrade herself and regress entirely in her character development to the point that she falls for her abuser was disturbing on a number of insane levels.

Warner's obsession with Juliette is terrifying. And I haven't even truly scratched the surface yet.

I am baffled by the fact that people find their relationship romantic. I am deeply saddened by the fact that "broken" characters somehow are given the okay to horrifically damage their partners in the name of love. As if the fact that they love this person makes it okay that they hurt them in these ways.

It doesn't make it okay. He did not deserve or earn her forgiveness. And once I've finished annotating all of these books, I will share with you all why that is.

To any girl who meets a boy who was "broken" by the way someone in his life treated him, who gets treated horribly by this boy -- run. His brokenness does not make it okay for him to hurt you. His brokenness does not mean that he deserves your forgiveness. There are plenty of people who suffer abuse and do not lash out and abuse the people they "love."

Mafi manipulates her readers to try and force them to like Warner. She creates characters and then manipulates them into unrealistic actions in order to push them in the direction she wanted, even if it doesn't actually make any sense to do so. In this way, I see these books as being very poorly written.

But the worst thing of all is the fact that abuse is lauded as romantic in these novels. Warner may hurt Juliette and be forgiven for it time and time again all because, beneath his terrible acts, his motives are supposedly based in the fact that he loves her. Nevermind that time and time again his love is portrayed as selfish and only insofar as she benefits him.

Like the novels, if you wish. But at least like them knowing the facts: Warner is abusive. Juliette and Warner are in an abusive relationship.

3.6⭐️ my average rating for this entire series, its been a while since I read dystopian but I enjoyed it… definitely worth the hype, easy to read, a lot of aggravating characters, twists and turns that blew my mind, endings that left me hanging, love story that made my heart melt, and most of all a new fictional boyfriend, Mr. Aaron Warner ❤️

Let me be honest with you, I'm disappointed. This series was good, but I have to admit it didn't meet my expectations, and I don't know why. I mean, there weren't any problems with the characters or the plot, but still, I expected much more. Maybe it's because of all the hypes and edits I watched about these books that made me think I'm reading something much much better 🤷🏻‍♀️
ANYWAY, I liked this series, and I don't regret reading it at all. I loved the characters and I loved the ending. The main characters were truly in love and the story was interesting but still...

I cant even bring myself to give this one star. Probably some of the worst books to ever have been written. i hate every single character and i mean that. the plot had potential, not that it followed through whatsoever but that, the fact that i was so excited to hate on this series and that it took me like an hour per book reaaally pulled me along. Now here i am, hating as i was always meant to. Worst writing ever, its literally so bad. Every line is psuedo intellectual nonsense, missing the point every single time. Literally feels like divergent rip off fanfiction. Also it literally kills me the amount of times warner says “love” as if hes not american. The strikethrouuuuggghhhss im literally so done everything is crossed out and corrected. “Its supposed to symbolize her state of mind, it goes away throughout the books!!” I know. That doesnt change that its cringey and gross and annoying and dot dot dot. Dont read this, unless u want to write a fun review after

Entering the world of the 'Shatter Me' series was like embarking on a rollercoaster ride, filled with highs and lows, twists and turns. With each installment, I found myself swept away by Tahereh Mafi's captivating storytelling, but also grappling with my own conflicting emotions. Here's a breakdown of my journey through the series, from the heights of adoration to the depths of disappointment.

SHATTER ME #1: 4/5 stars
I rated this book 4 stars instead of 5 because I'm not a fan of Adam and Juliette as a couple. Juliette's affection for Adam seems more based on his kindness to her in the past and his ability to touch her, rather than genuine love. Adam's obsession with Juliette feels cliché and cringeworthy to me. However, I still like Adam as a character overall. The plot and characters like Kenji and especially Warner are fantastic though. Warner's complexity as a character makes him stand out.

UNRAVEL ME #2: 4.5/5 stars
This book was so close to perfection. I loved it so much but the ending kind of messed it up for me. It was underwhelming as the whole book. This book, this world – it's all messed up, yet people keep on living. It blows my mind how they manage to survive, rebels, soldiers, regular folks, all facing terror every day. It's wild.
Lots of folks rag on Juliette, saying she's weak, self-absorbed, always wrapped up in her own drama. But I get where she's coming from. Life's tough, you know? Juliette's been through hell and back. Treated like trash her whole life, it's no wonder she struggles to see herself as anything but a monster. And when she finally starts feeling human again, it's ripped away from her. But she lets it go, showing her humanity.
Her relationships, especially with Adam, get a lot of flack. I think it's not real, just based on need. But with Warner, it's different. Despite his tough exterior, Juliette sees his softer side.

IGNITE ME #3: 5/5 stars
I get it. I FINALLY GET THE HYPE of this series!
This book is the reason why Aaron warner is our golden boy. That guy is the definition of swoon-worthy. Every word out of his mouth had me melting into a puddle on the floor. Kenji, though? He's the real MVP. I swear, if I wasn't so head over heels for Warner, Kenji would be stealing the show. His humor just brings so much light to everything, you know?
But Adam? Ugh, don't even get me started on him. Every time he showed up, I was ready to throw my book across the room. Seriously, why couldn't Mafi just have Warner toss him off a cliff or something?
But let's talk about the romance. Holy smokes, it was on fire! I lost count of how many scenes had me squealing out loud. Warnette forever, am I right? That pager scene? And "lyhfml"? Absolute perfection.

RESTORE ME #4: 3/5 stars
Wow, that ending though! I'm still trying to process it, honestly.
So, let's get into it. While I didn't love this book as much as "Ignite Me," those secrets and lies had me hooked! But seriously, all that miscommunication? It stressed me out big time. Like, can these characters just talk to each other already?
And Juliette... girl, what happened? She went from confident and strong to clueless and insecure. But hey, she's still the supreme commander, even if she's not sure what to do with all that power. I guess we all make dumb decisions sometimes, right?
But let's talk about the hot stuff. Juliette laying down the law? Scorching! And Kenji? Always a bright spot. His friendship with Juliette and his bond with Warner? Pure gold. And Nazeera? Badass.
Now, Warner. My heart breaks for him. His vulnerability, his anxiety - it's all too real. And that childhood trauma? Heart-wrenching. But eating a cookie with a knife and fork? Classic Warner.
And his love for Juliette? It's sickeningly sweet. He'd do anything for her, and it's both beautiful and agonizing to watch.
Overall, this book had its flaws.

DEFY ME #5: 2.5/5 stars
I gotta be real here. This book left me scratching my head. Like, what was even the point? It felt like Tahereh Mafi was just stretching the story out for the sake of it. And those twists? They were more confusing than anything else. It's like she was trying to shock us without really adding anything meaningful to the plot.
Don't get me wrong, I love Mafi's writing, but this one fell flat for me. The characters I adore, like Kenji and Warner, were still solid, but the rest felt kinda irrelevant. And what's up with the whole Juliette-now-Ella thing? She'll always be Juliette to me.
Speaking of ships, Juliette and Warner? Total goals. They're the only reason I'm considering picking up book six. Oh, and I can't forget about Kenji. That guy deserves all the happiness in the world.
Overall, this book felt like a filler episode of a TV show. Not terrible, but definitely not essential. I'll stick to pretending the series ended at book three.
And can we talk about that cover? Seriously, did they just tweak the old one and call it a day? At least give us something fresh!
Oh, and a heads up for anyone thinking about diving in - there are some heavy topics like parental abuse and suicidal thoughts in here, so tread carefully.

IMAGINE ME #6: 3.5/5 stars
This series should've wrapped up neatly with "Ignite Me." Life would've been good. But nope, we got hit with "Restore Me," and it's been a rollercoaster of disappointment since then.
Honestly, going into this book, I had zero expectations. And you know what? I'm kinda glad about that because what I got was not what I expected at all.
Let's start with the positives. Tahereh's writing? Still top-notch. I mean, how does she come up with those poetic sentences? And Kenji? Bless his soul. That guy was carrying the weight of the whole story on his back, trying to keep everyone together.
But then we got Adam, who's still as irrelevant as ever. And don't even get me started on Warner. He went from being tolerable to downright insufferable. And Juliette? Where did she even go? She went from badass to passive, and it's just frustrating to watch.
The worldbuilding and plot? Yeah, still confused. And that ending? Talk about rushed and unsatisfying. So many loose ends, so many unanswered questions. And that epilogue? Don't even get me started.
In the end, the only enjoyment I got out of this mess was from Kenji's inner thoughts. That guy's a gem, always finding a way to lighten the mood.
Seriously, Mafi, this series should've stayed a trilogy. Don't even think about coming back with more books later on. I'll riot, but let's be real, I'll probably still end up reading them because I'm a glutton for punishment.

I couldn’t find all the singular books to put a review so I will rate them. Shatter me, 5- loved the start of the books an how they introduced the characters. Unravel me, 4.5- it was ok nothing stuck out to me. Ignite me, 4.7- loved how Juliette and Aaron got to know each other more and his point of view. Restore me, 4.7- like how we got to know more about Aaron and his past. Defy me, 4.7- loved the flashbacks from Juliette that got us to know more about her real past and what happened. Imagine me, 5- this book was so good and I found this book very interesting and I thought that her being Anderson right hand person was a very nice touch. I did not read the novellas.

TW: violence parentale, emprisonnement, mort, violence, pensée suicidaire, torture, massacre.

Shatter Me, Unravel Me et Ignite Me sont les meilleurs.

X-men.

Here is an HONEST spoiler free review for the WHOLE shatter me series. Truthfully, the first book was a bit too slow and boring but the plot caused me to still continue the series and I'm GLAD that I did because I realized that the first book needed to start off like that. As I read the other books in the series it picks up SO MUCH better. I cannot explain how hooked I got in these books, especially the first 3 books. Not to mention the main characters Juliette, Aaron and my FAVOURITE Kenji ❤️ are such well thought characters. At first when I read the first book I was so confused over people's obsession with Aaron but as I read further in the series, I realized why. Juliette and Aaron relationship is EVERYTHING! I feel like people may be set back because of the first book but it REALLY does get better. Juliette started off as an "okay" character but develops a huge character development making me love her. And lastly Kenji is such an amazing character who is caring but also SO FUNNY, I cannot describe how much I laughed at his jokes. I believe that everyone should try reading this book because you may regret not reading this series.

Paris has never told either of them about their shared history. The reason he had to keep wiping their memories was because it didn't matter how many times he reset the story or remade the introductions Aaron always fell in love with her. 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆.

Along with the Good Girls Guide to Murder series, it has come to my attention that I have not added these books to my "books I have read" as well. So much heart and creativity was put into each and every page that i'm sure has impacted everybody who has read it, in a way only these people would understand. It's hard to believe that these were all written by one person, as these characters are each in their own way, unique and very different from each other. What strikes me is not only how these characters expel their emotions and respond to the certain things that happen in their lives, but the hidden meanings behind everything that they say, do, and more importantly feel. I think that this series is not only entertaining, but can actually impact the readers thoughts and feelings when certain experiences that these characters endure, can be relatable. Some may view them as made-up people that are just put into these random stories and situations, which is true, but those looking deeper will find how these things can change a person, and really affect them.

Okay so it wouldn’t let me do defy me in standalone for this review so I will do this over book 5. Extremely moving, and a strong loving FMC. This is definitely a YA series in the level of spice. But honestly really good. I’ve had a hard time putting it down.

I was actually really sceptical about this series because the whole internet was talking about it. But if I am honest I fell so hard for this series. I am in love with the characters their dynamic and the writing is just perfect.
This universe deserves all the hype it gets and more.
