Angel Horses: Divine Messengers of Hope

Rate this book
This lovely collection tells of the hope and healing that comes from contact with horses. Whether used to give disabled riders a sense of freedom and mobility, to heal wounds of childhood abuse, to assist with work, or simply as loving companions, horses bond with people in ways that change them for the better. The stories, contributed by people from all over the country and from all walks of life, introduce Cholla, the horse who paints pictures; a veterinarian who was reminded of the importance of compassion by a dying horse and a Native American chief; Star, a horse who saved a teenage girl from suicide; the late-blooming rider who embarrassed a horse and learned an important lesson about respecting the feelings of others — even if they have four legs; and many others. Whether running through fields or performing intricate dressage drills, horses carry not only riders but messages of unconditional love and hope.

Angel Horses is fantastic! I've really enjoyed all of the Angel Animal series & would definitely recommend them for their touching & inspiring stories. I beleive that animals are Souls, just as we humans are, & they can teach us so much if we will just listen. Linda & Allen Anderson also have a website for Angel Animals- very nice, good works!

Lots of annoying (to me) issues a horse savvy editor should have caught. Horses are measured in hands, a hand being 4 inches. I think that's even stated in the book. Yet they consistently refer to heights as 16.5 (should be 17.1) and 14.5 (should be 15.1). Annoying and petty, but that's one of the reasons for the lower rating.

This was a good book. The story that stayed with me the most was the last one (I think) about the woman that could hear the horses' thoughts. I've always thought this kind of thing was bs but this story made me stop and think. Definitely recommend it to horse-lovers.

Some good horse stories, some that were a little unbelievable, and a little too religious for me, but I liked the horses.

I have never owned a horse but I enjoyed reading these stories about people who do. Do you believe we can communicate with our pets? That is the main idea in this book.

Actually I received a Hardcover of this book as a Christmas gift from my daughter...(she knows that "Straight from the Horses' Heart", by R.T. Fitch is 1 of my very favorites,) as well as its author being a personal HERO...of mine {+ many}!
…just getting started really, although have skipped around 2 see, that I didn't wanna skip, & have begun @ beginning! Yet, to say "page 1" is bit misleading; HC version has fully delicious 10 page "introduction", before its 188 pages.
Great so far...will say more as I continue ;)

saw this at b and n for 1/2 price and had to get it for mom and me. there were some very sweet stories and then there were some really off-beat/quirky ones. the idea though that horses can calm and communicate if you let them is one i believe in. quick, easy read.

I found the book to be touching and had great stories. It was a compilation of many horse stories, but I would have preferred that it was just one story that was more in depth.
