LOVE AND VIOLENCE! When mutant babies are going missing, Cable takes it personally. Almost as personally as his love life...It’s not easy dating five girls, even if they are clones.
A mutant baby was kidnapped ( not from Krakoa but Philly) and Kid Cable is on the case. He is also dating all the Cukoos which has seemed to tick Emma off a bit. Plus there are some alien types that bum rushed Cable wanting their sword back that Cable found last issue. Some funny moments and action plus Phil Noto’s art make this issue pretty good.
Young Cable demanding shit from the police is ridiculous times 2.
Young Cable dating all the Cuckoos is ridiculous times 4.
Emma and Cyclops talking about Cable dating the Cuckoos was ridiculous times X.
Still want the good old Cable back and we thankfully getting some of the old Cable at the end again and pretty much can't wait for the young one to die or disappear cuz he's getting on my nerves.
Artwork is amazing, of course!
Reread #2 Review:
As I said on my rereview for #1, I like the series even more than the 1st time around (don't ask me why I have no idea, I was a stupid kid back then ((a year ago)) and now I'm wiser).
Cable is dating the Cuckoos...all five of them, but particularly Esme this issue.
Which is fun because there was some set up for this in a comic I read the other day...where...was it Wolverine...used the Cuckoos to persuade Quentin Quire to do something for him in return for setting them up with Cable. I probably read too many comics...
Anyway, I digress, but...no...I don't really, because this is exactly the sort of fun little Easter egg I expect from reading ALL of the X-books. Anyway, where this book shines is in the fun moments...the bits with the Cuckoos...the bit with Scott and Emma. The actually plot centres around a kidnapped baby...and there are some Space Knights too...and honestly I don't really know what's going on yet...but I'm definitely enjoying it.
Plotwise it's quite linear and easy to follow. The jokes are funny.
I feel like the artwork / drawing could be better (although Cable looks a hell lot better here than in previous Dawn of X issues). Kudos to the colorists though because the colors and hues are nicely done.
It's funny but probably would have made more sense if I'd reread #1. The best parts were Cable and Cyclops each talking to the cops. I'm surprised the sword was taken so easily I was expecting that to be a more drawn-out plot. They're gonna keep looking for the baby right? I don't see myself subscribing to Cable for long.
I almost hesitate to say it but Cable here exudes a schloppy, pulpy quality to it. Might be the--what is it called when you date five genetically identical telepathic twins? It's widely entertaining, whatever it's called.
Genuinely fun parallels between Cable and Cyclops; with a ridiculous Emma cameo, to boot.
Cable dating all the Cuckoo's and the White Queen being narked about it, then her interaction with Cyclops, was all amusing but this issue never really got started.
Kid has been kidnapped, magic space dudes, short scrap, the end.
