The villager who was so poor that he couldn’t afford a bride price, did not learn to do anything, and was idle, actually got a beautiful and rich wife from the city!
The beautiful and rich Bai (white) Fu (rich) Mei (beautiful), Zhao Lanxiang was reborn, and the first thing she did when she woke up was to find her husband in a hurry.
In their last life, they met each other in their later years, he had suffered through the ups and downs in life, and she was scarred. They warmed and healed each other in their remaining years.
In this life, she decided to give this man a good beginning, help him avoid the hidden arrows, and walk onto the bright road!
However… who could tell her why her steady, refined husband is actually such a cold, fierce, and thorny bully as a young man?
The rough man impatiently pressed the Bai Fumei into the cornfield, patted her tender face, and said fiercely: “You know, you can’t run away if you mess with me again.”
The setting is of reformed China. It was very interesting to read the time before change and after change and how the change effected the lives of people.
It's so good!!! I like the concept of double time travel in this story. It is different from the usual time travel story set in real historical timeline.
They story is set in 70s China, where people are struggling in making a living for their family. Our ML, He Songbai, is a son of a fallen rich family who was shunned by the people in his village. Meanwhile, our FL, Zhao Lanxiang, is a bright city girl who volunteered to come and work at their village. It turns out that ML was FL's husband in her previous life. She time-travelled into their current life, remembered her husband's bitter story in his youth, and decided to find him and help him get a better life.
I love that both MCs are very hard working people. They do have prior knowledge about the future that may help them in making their lives better, but it wasn't an easy journey at all. They work super hard, they use their brain, they help, support and take care of each other. Their relationship truly warm my heart.
Thumbs up to the author and translator of this story. I truly enjoy reading it.
Very very good. The relationship between the two main characters are also very healthy, and the story is written in a mature and sweet way, compared to the typical regression type novels I’ve read where many times the relationship is actually quite toxic. Bai fumei from the 70’s was very sweet from start to finish, and there was really no long-standing altercation with relatives and enemies and what not, not much “face slapping” which made the story much more realistic. I enjoy drama but too much can be exhausting, and any problems were dealt with logically. This is very much a slice of life so it was generally a very relaxing and comfortable read about two people who love each other very much and their life in closed 1970’s and 80’s China. The food was also described deliciously and I always start to crave the food written in each chapter. My only peeve is that it was quite hard to follow the story at first, possibly due to translation or that I’m just not used to Chinese writing style, but once I understood the gist I enjoyed it very much.
I was not sure the 1970s era would provide a good backdrop for a transmigration story. But, the author succeeded writing a story that was heart warming with the focus on the actions of the protagonist as she works to make a less tragic path in the lives of the people she cherished.
The Chinese revolutionary era in this storyline showed the contrasts between the educated city residents and the much poorer and overworked people in the country. The lives of the leads and the secondary characters fit well in that era. The story was still interesting even without the help of a system or cheats as guidance for the MC and is worth reading.

So cute and heartwarming! The setting of China's countryside in the 70's was really fun to explore and learn about. The story is a bit slice-of-life with romance, has really likeable and awesome characters... and the food porn, I'd advice readers to either have food close by or read this on a full stomach.
The translation seems like MTL that has been edited unfortunaely, but the story is good enough to overcome that.
A very well written story but super bittersweet. There are some heavy events in here While those aren't the entirety of the story, if you're looking for a light happy read, give this a pass. If you want a deep story of slowly unfurling relationships through hardship, give it a try.
I'll admit I probably would have caught more of the "references" if I knew more about this period in China's history.
Very interesting read. I would rate it 4.5 ⭐. I have little knowledge of china's history in the 1900's. This is my first time reading the different stages of their development. Although I think a lot of the words in the story is a recipe, you won't be dissatisfied with the amount of romance in it.
