Librarian's Note: the Kindle edition of Music to My Ears has now been split into two novels - this is the second part.
She made him face the music.
Orrin Greenwood, ex-boy-bander and notorious womanizer, is ready to make his big comeback. Needing a hit record sooner than later, his manager suggests up-and-coming singer/songwriter Jauri Tutuola. He jumps at the chance thinking she will be an easy ride to the top of the charts, but what he doesn't anticipate is her taking him on the most thrilling tour of his life as she makes him confront his past and make room for her on his stage and in his future.
Surrounded by a music industry full of clones, Jauri “JT” Tutuola wants to break new ground and do things her way. She vows to no longer let anything keep her from the spotlight, especially not her deeply melanated skin, her bushy hair or her “creative genius” label head. She initially dismisses Orrin as just another distraction until he begins to show her that making music and making love don't have to be mutually exclusive.
The Soundtrack Series follows Jauri and Orrin, two star-crossed lovers determined not to let anything thwart their attempts at staying on beat even though their jam session has many interruptions over a span of fifteen years

"I am a writer that creates stories and characters for black girls and women who never got to see themselves as the protagonist. Whether you were told that your skin was too dark, your hair was too nappy, your body was too big or too tall or all of the above, I’m here to tell you it was all a lie and I have something written just for you. For us."
This installment was heavy for me but I enjoyed it. The author warned that it wasn't a love story but the hopeless romantic in me kept looking for a glimmer of hope. This journey is not for the faint at heart but definitely worth the read!!!!
This book snatched all my edges! I literally stayed up all night to finish this book when I have to work at 8 in the morning. I love JT and Orrin together but man does Orrin piss me off. The drake that happened in this book had me on edge the entire time. Great read! Highly recommend!!!
This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster..my heart hurt for jauri like I knew her personally. Couldn’t have been more stunned at the turn of events..I just sat there like wow..really wow..
I really really REALLY didn't expect that twist. It was a literal mouth drop open, placed kindle gently on table so it doesn't slip out of my hand, spend the next 2 mins with my mouth open looking at the wall processing what I just read, thinking I've recovered, starts re-reading page, repeat steps 1 through 5.
Also I love the slow burn of this story, I love the way it's written you get a glimpse into almost everyday life for the characters and it's wonderful. It reads like a movie, if that makes any sense.
This was just the retelling of the first novel. I had PTSD from the first have and to relive it again had me really wanting to square up with Orrin. I feel like he only wanted Jauri cause she told him no. Every time he would win her over he would self sabotage. Run Jauri and never look back, it’s s trap!! He means you no good.
Check TW and CW. This book right here yanked my heart out stomped in it, kicked it down a hill, dragged it through rocks and stabbed the heck out of it. And I enjoyed every darn minute. Juari is bae. I just want to wrap her up in my arms and just hold her.
This gives way to a broken person that has no idea how to love . Selfish behavior that is determined to destroy another , this behavior leads to healing
