Ian McGill was brought up on a farm in Zimbabwe before leaving home and joining the British Army. His military experience included service with commando and airborne forces, and operations in Northern Ireland, Kuwait and Bosnia. He was awarded the CBE for his contribution to the Royal Engineers and the Queens Commendation for Valuable Service after a tour in Sarajevo. He’s been happily married to Mary for over 50 years, with a son, daughter and two granddaughters.

A brilliant read for any Royal Engineer Soldier

I loved it as a former Royal Engineer Soldier as myself it brought back some fond memories of my timecwhike un the army.
I throughly enjoyed reading it and a definite recommendation for any military personnel both past and present.

An interesting life

Ian tells his story in a realistic and interesting way. It is at its most interesting in his early days as a young officers in Northern Ireland. Well worth a read

Outstanding record of Ian McGill,s service as a Royal Engineer

Reading this book brought back so many memories of my time in the Royal Engineers. I would recommend this book to all who would aspire to be leaders in any capacity.
