Workpalce Hazards Risks & Control

Rate this book
The industrial safety laws, the government and other safety partners have not been able to stem the tide of hazards resulting from abuses and wrong use of workplace factors. Field experiences and surveys carried out in the past has shown the extent of neglect and lack of compliance with safety rules and the consequence of breaking such rules are grave and costly.
For instance, in 1988, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) was put in place to ensure safety on our roads. Also the Industrial Court and all other similar outfits including the Nigeria Institute of Safety Professionals (NISP) have done so much in ensuring safety in our workplaces and accident victim compensation. Recently, the Nigeria Labour Congress’s campaign at ensuring workplace protection for her workers most especially the victims of HIV/AIDS is complimentary.
Despite these efforts, not much have been achieved in safeguarding workplace accidents and injuries.
To fully appreciate the place of safety in workplaces, this book identified related workplaces including playgrounds, home, farm, workshop, offices and some key workplace safety issues including environmental impact assessment.
The concept of safety as expressed in this book is described as the WWW of workplace safety and accident prevention.
