A mission to capture the world's most wanted terrorist. A computer tech sent in undercover. And a woman with a secret that could change everything.
Griffin Force tracks the world's most wanted terrorist to Libya, but the only one on their team that can infiltrate his lair is Augie---their computer tech. Their Libyan contact sends in a young man to help protect Augie during the assignment, but he’s hiding something and Augie doesn’t trust him.
When the simple observe-and-report mission turns into a much bigger operation, Augie must figure out how to alert Griffin Force to Atwah’s deadly plans without compromising his cover. But things get complicated when Augie discovers the secret of the young man with him. Now he’ll have to find a way to stop Atwah and keep both of them alive---or he’ll die trying.
After reading every Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, and Hardy Boys book her elementary school library had, Julie Coulter Bellon knew from a young age she wanted to write books and be a published author someday. That dream came true and she is now the author of thirty romantic suspense novels and two children's books. One nightmare that also came true was that she once tripped up the stairs going on stage to accept a book award and she thinks about that moment more often than she should.
Julie loves to travel and her favorite cities she's visited so far are probably Athens, Paris, Ottawa, and London. She is a former journalist and podcast host of Authors Off the Page. She loves to read, write, teach, watch Hawaii Five-O reruns, and eat Canadian chocolate. Not necessarily in that order.

Do you want action/adventure, suspense, or clean romance in your book? With Second Chance you get it all! Julie Coulter Bellon does an excellent job of combining those elements as well as great characters, plot twists, and reconciliation to make a fantastic book for you to read. I plan to continue reading this series and other works by Ms. Bellon. I highly recommend Second Chance. I received a complimentary copy. I'm sharing my opinion with you so that you don't miss out on this great read.
I wonder if Bellon has extreme anxiety while writing this series because I sure have moments of it while reading these books! The Griffin Force is off to Libya and danger, terrorists, and threats of death abound. Augie is immediately suspicious of Rian, who is helping the team, and the secret he learns isn't what he expected and leads to more peril than he ever could have imagined.
Bellon always does a great job of adding some romance and an emotional connection with her suspenseful stories and the situations are terrifying, giving the reader a glimpse into some pretty realistic circumstances. I love seeing old friends from previous books make appearances--these characters are a tight-knit family and their experiences bind them together in unfathomable ways.
This fast-paced adventure is well-written and thrilling and this installment ends on a slight cliffhanger, leaving me eager for more.
Content: very mild romance; PG-13 violence (relating to war, terrorism, hostages, etc)
*I received a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.*
Wa-hoo! It's release day for this book and I feel like I've been waiting forever for it! I mean, it hasn't REALLY been forever, but you know what I mean. It seems like so long ago that this author revealed the cover for this book and I was SO excited. Julie Coulter Bellon is one of my favorites in this military suspense genre. She has written in other genres too and I like that but this is my first love. I loved being back with the Griffin Force team with the spotlight on Augie, the computer tech genius. Time to really shine, Augie!!
And shine he did.
Even in the dark moments, Augie was shining. He really came through as a protector and a defender. I loved his bravery and his kindness. Rian has a great presence in this book- who doesn't love a strong woman? She was amazing. And of course, seeing old friends was nice too. I love how this team works together.
I loved how the story unfolded. I stayed up way too late last night to finish it because I didn't want to sleep until knew everything. Of course, now I am desperate for the next book because I was left with a "to be continued . . . " Boo. I sure hope the author is writing that next book!!
Second Chance is a fast-paced thrill ride that does not let go until you are turning that last page. I love these types of books! Where you think you might anticipate what is next for the characters, but then you are thrown in a different direction. Julie Coulter Bellon is a master at this. The character development is well done and each character is a strong addition to the story. Rian was especially a favorite. She starts off with a huge secret, but when it is revealed and she and Augie are in a tight spot, I loved how she reminded him that she's been on her own for awhile and can take care of herself. I did love how she let him help her too, once she learned to trust. The author does a great job of throwing in some romance into all of that action too!
This latest installment of the Griffin Force series started off with a bang! I was quickly drawn into Augie and Rian's stories. The suspense of terrorists on the loose in war ravaged Lybia kept my heart racing and my blood pumping! Secrets abound and good guys undercover kept me up late reading while my nerves were rattling. With just the right amount of romance thrown in, Bellon does a bang up job with Second Chance! I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Suspense, contemporary, romance; series book 5, but stand alone read Aug he's turn to shine in this Griffin force novel. Rian was a great new addition and the location, action, and drama I this novel were perfectly paced. Hard to put down, and a pleasure to read.
Man! Just when you think the Griffin Force is closing in, and finally able to capture the most hated terrorist in history, there are more surprises around the corner, leaving me both frustrated, yet excited that there just might be more to this series in the future! The members of the Griffin Force have become like family to me, I love that Augie, the lovable computer tech of the Force, gets to shine in this novel, and that we get to welcome another member to the team!
Rian is a welcome addition to this tactical read with her smarts and incredible bravery, and her and Augie make a perfect team, their chemistry electric from the first meeting. Seeing Augie out in the field was a refreshing sight and getting to know his character on a deeper level is a joy. He has always been one of my favorite characters throughout this series and, in my opinion, it was time for him to get the spotlight.
Like the other books in the series, Second Chance is full of tactical intrigue, action, suspense, and a touch of romance with a lot of heart. The character depth is spot on, and though it can be read as a standalone, as Julie does a masterful job of keeping the reader caught up with the main storyline, I think reading the series as a whole gives you a better grasp, and you get the full affect.
It truly is one of my favorite series at the moment and since Second Chance ends on a major cliffhanger I will be impatiently waiting to hear if there will indeed be another book in this incredible series.
This is an exciting story that is going to keep you reading long after your bedtime. Augur is not usually in on the missions, after all he is a computer tech that usually helps to guide the team through what he finds online. But he is sent out because of his looks. Augur meets up with a young man and they wind up friends but this friend had a huge secret. The team ends up in a lot of dangerous situations trying to save some very important people in a country that is in danger of being taken over. I lived meeting up with the members of Griffin Force again it seems like it has been quite a while since we have been able to read about their exploits! And my goodness there is not only suspense and lots of action but a romance seems to be brewing. I lived and hope the next book will not be as long coming out! Great job Ms. Bellon! I received a free download of this book from the publisher. This review is my own honest opinion of a very exciting book!
Second Look is a fantastic clean suspenseful romance. It grabbed me from the beginning and captivated me until the end. This fast paced military romance kept me on the edge of my seat and has me excited to read more from this author. The narrator gave a wonderful performance and enhanced an already great story.
If the terrorist is Atwah and he is being protection, and the Prime Minister finds out, the peace talks will stop. A black op group has come, now in a safe house to take Atwah out, Colt is uneasy about the driver, hesitate to answer his questions. Options are to bribe an official to find out, or tell the General and get his praise if it is Atwah The only one the Griffin Force team that Atwah didn’t know was Augie The revolutionist can be bride, he’d be held for 24 hours. Under estimated how big this operations was. Finding out Rain secret, and now to figure out how to stop the deadly plan Atwah has and to get Rian and him to safety. Rian added to the story the eliminate of secret, and a good plot to go with the series. The mission will continue in another book,
This book pulls you in right from the beginning. The Griffin Force team is in Libya this time. This book has suspense and romance. I stayed up late because I had to know how it was going to end -- which was a surprise! Hope we don't have to wait too long for the next Griffin Force book!
I loved this story!! I was so excited to see Augie get his happily ever after! I really enjoyed this look into Libya which I hadn't had before. All around fantastic book. Probably my favorite of all her books!
I enjoyed this book. Some of the dangerous situations seemed to have an easier solution than I was expecting, but overall it had a good amount of action and suspense. I also liked both of the main characters.
If action and suspense are your go-to genres, then look no further! This book will definitely satisfy your love for these two genres. Augie and Rian step into a very dangerous mission. They will have to keep their wits completely about them if they want to survive. But secrets that come to light up the stakes of the mission and the threats to their safety.
Wowsers! Talk about fast-paced and wonderful! I listened to the audiobook in one sitting. I just couldn't stop. Disclosure: I haven't read the previous Griffin Force books. This was my first one. I've read other books from this author in the other genres she writes. I've wanted to dive into this series because I've had so many reading friends talk about how much they love it. Well, I finally did it! Yay! And I'm so happy I did. Now I need to go back and read/listen to the previous books in this series. But I didn't feel like I couldn't keep up or understand what was happening without reading the previous books. So if you're like me and haven't read any yet and just jump in here, you'll be fine. I have to say that there were several characters that I'm sure are from previous books and have me wanting to know more about them and their backstories.
Lots of action and danger, suspense and intrigue, heartmelting moments, sweet and clean romance, and soooo much more fills the pages of this fabulous book (or audiobook in my case)!
Content: Clean. PG-13 rating for the violence and moments of peril/war.
I received an audiobook from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
I am really liking this series, although apparently I've been reading them out of order. Doesn't matter though. They're still good. This one, I felt the two main characters fell for each other a little too quickly, but dangerous situations can make emotions run high.
Clean book, no language, wartime violence, kissing. If you like romantic suspense with heavy suspense, this is a good one. 4.5 stars.
I listened to this in order to give a review, and I’m glad I did! This was an exciting story to listen to, and I enjoyed the experience! This was a clean book in an espionage series that I am looking forward to hearing more about later! I’m definitely following this author!
