When Harvey Stone betrays his foster-father, John Cartwright, by failing to carry out one of his bloody requests, a series of events unfold, opening doors to the past that should have remained closed for eternity. A killer is awoken, and his sights are set on revenge.
Racked with guilt, Harvey takes one last glance at the house where he and sister grew up before turning his back on the family that raised him, setting a course to find his sister’s killer. Little does he know, his betrayal has endangered everyone he loves, and that glance may have been his last.
But his fragile state of mind leads him into a bloodbath. Surrounded by police, he has just two options - run and live like the rats that he hunts, or face his demons and return to make amends. The question is, are any of his family still alive?
The Mercy Kill is the third book in the brand-new crime thriller series from J.D. Weston, author of the Stone Cold Thriller series and the Frankie Black Files. Perfect for fans of David Baldacci, Lee Child and Michael Connelly.
I love Harvey! He has a lot of decisions to make in this book, with one having a knock on affect to the others.
John is becoming greedy and pompous, not a good look, with some disastrous consequences. Two brothers want it all, so does John. Can Harvey and Julios prevent a coup? The past comes back to haunt them all and leaves Harvey questioning his future. In a moment of indecision, Harvey leaves his friend and foster father vulnerable - can he rectify this in time or will he loose everything? An action packed thriller in which one decision, may be fatal.
I love this series, I look forward to each new book and eagerly keep turning the pages! I highly recommend this author and series of books.
J.D. Watson is a good writer who knows how to tell a story and hold the reader’s interest.
The Harvey Stone concept is gripping and I can’t wait to read each subsequent instalment.
This book was a necessary step in the sequence because it enriches the background and character of the main actors, but in so doing there is inevitably a lot of reflection and detail which can drag a little.
Nonetheless, the plot is good and Harvey doesn’t disappoint.
This is the third book in the Harvey Stone series, a serial killer who you actually want to get away with thing. In this book he, his best friend/mentor and step farther are all in big trouble and fighting for their lives. But will they all come out of it alive? The book is well written, face paced and full of action. There are some unexpected twist and turns to the plot. 5 out of 5 from me.
From the opening paragraph, I was hooked! The Mercy Kill delves into one very important time-frame in Harvey's life, and the consequences that arise from his decisions.
I read the book in one day, absolutely loving the psychological tension of seeing how Harvey's choices helped framed who he was to become. Well done, Mr. Weston!
Exceptional. This is one of the best, most visceral novels I have had the pleasure of reading in a very long time. A thought-provoking narrative with treacherous and duplicitous characters, gut-wrenching scenes and enough action to keep you up all night. Outstanding. Very Highly Recommended
The story's depth and morality really made me enjoy this book. The good vs evil, light vs dark and moral vs immoral were used very well to create a well executed story
