A small-town cold case gets new life when a woman hands a 22-year-old private investigator his first assignment. Going with the notes his father used when he first investigated the case, Alex Bourque delves into the 31-year-old mystery: an 11-year-old boy, kidnapped without witnesses, abused and murdered. There is little evidence to go on except a white L on the boy’s chest as well as a black smudge on his forehead, but with the help of his girlfriend Lauryn, Alex makes do with what he has and tries to solve the case from scratch.

Yet there are people who don’t want him to find out what happened, and they’ll go to any lengths to stop Alex from discovering the truth.

About the author

Sean Sweeney’s love of reading began in 1988, when he was handed J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic The Hobbit, and was given a needed reading boost with John Grisham novels and the Star Wars Expanded Universe in the 1990s. His passion for writing began in 1993, as a sophomore in high school, when he began writing sports for his local newspaper. Born and raised in North Central Massachusetts in 1977, Sweeney has written for several newspapers and radio stations. Since then, Sean has written upward of 29 novels along with a handful of novellas and short stories.

When he is not writing, he enjoys reading, watching Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, along with British mysteries and Doctor Who, the New England Revolution, and Arsenal F.C.

Sean lives in Fitchburg, Massachusetts with his wife and their four cats, Finn, Diva, Squeaky, and Spooky.

Starts a little slow but picks up in a hurry! Alex Bourque is a newly minted PI in the small town of Fitchburg, MA. His first job is to solve a 32 year old cold case of a boy that had been brutally murdered. Alex's father was the original investigator. The more he looks into it, the more someone doesn't want him snooping around and things get a bit hairy for young Alex. Solve it he does, in the first book of this trilogy.
