A stubborn omega...

After years of wishing, Lyric’s dream is finally coming true. She’s landed her first tour when all her life she’s been told to settle and find herself a pack. Bruised hearts from broken pasts...
After collecting a talented team of musicians, Lyric’s dreams can come true. Living on the road with a band is a lot like having a pack, and fighting her own nature is hard enough without worrying about why these alphas watch her like circling hawks.

A pack of misfits...

By the end of the tour, can she break down her prejudices and open up to the five men who would do anything for her?

I’m a big fan of this world, the sweetverse.
I’m glad we’re getting more of it even if it’s outside of Moons penmanship.
It’s the same A/B/O world found in Baby and Lola but I’m afraid I wouldn’t put this in the same league at all.

It’s lengthy and has a great premise. The tour bus is a clever set up for a romance.

1 Reluctant Omega,
3 Alphas without a pack
and 2 Betas

All set off on a music tour together
Yippee!

It was sweet, it was enjoyable but outside of the romance there just wasn’t much else to keep my interest. There was a weak attempt at a threat to the Omega but it really was a weak attempt at best.
565 pages is a lot for a romantic plot and not much outside of that.

Lyric herself was only moderately likeable. Her
reluctance to have a pack and remain independent was admirable but we all knew where it was heading ... and it was all about her journey to discover the omega inside her. She didn’t really change anyone’s opinion of omegas, only her own.
The girl power certainly wasn’t strong with this one.

I just needed more than the romance. More drama and calamity on the tour, it’s set up for really great plot bunnies. It just didn’t reach its full potential.

The addition of a 4th Alpha late into the book brought nothing to the mix, we didn’t need it at this point and he didn’t have a big enough personality to fill the missing ingredient that would have made a good book great.

It’s written in the third person with multiple POVs, which I found really confusing.
It’s a bit jumpy and doesn’t flow very well. I had to reread sections repeatedly because I couldn’t remember who’s POV I was reading from. It was off-putting if you’re trying to stay in the “zone”.

I’ve ended up pointing out more bad than good but it’s a solid 3 stars. There’s plenty of 5 star reviews here so read them too before making up your mind!

If you’re looking for that sweet romance with loads of sex scenes and strong LGBT presence, then look no further.

Just don’t go into it expecting “Lola” levels of excellence.

Spoilers ahead, 2.5* reluctantly rounded up

First of all let me say when I saw this book I assumed it was by the same author as the other books, half way through I realized it's the same verse but a different author. Unfortunately this reminded me of the Until series by ARR where the "world" was opened up to other authors and things went downhill from there......at least for me. In this case this wasn't a bad book but I was really hoping for another Baby.

Lyric is a famous recording artist who's about to go off on her first tour, unlike most Omega Lyric isn't interested in mating or forming a pack......but she does need a new band. After hundreds of auditions Lyric manages to narrow down the members she wants. Only one spot remains but the guy who comes in rubs Lyric the wrong way. Nevertheless the show must go on.

********

Random thoughts

Lyric put the stubborn in STUBBORN! Jeeze! For almost the entire book she refused to even acknowledge that she may have formed a pack. Because of her mother she was determined to be independent and so did a shit ton of pushing away and hiding from her feelings
This book was long AF! Considering the only thing keeping the plot going was the tour and Lyric's refusal to form a pack there was just no need for it to be so damn long
The actual parts I really enjoyed were when Lyric FINALLY gave in to her feelings and let the guys in.
These were the least Alpha Alphas I've ever read! Grrrrrrrrrrr where was my growling? And purring? And bossiness? Disappointing. The closest was Emerson and Henry
This read more as Lyric learning to accept herself as an Omega rather than changing the role of the omega
I know the author said they were basically human but I read Omegaverse for the slick and the growls and the pregnancy...... I feel robbed 😭😔
We started off with 2 Alphas who were fu*k buddies and one beta, then another Alpha was added.....ok the dynamics actually worked though I didn't quite feel the connection with Henry.....but to throw the food guy in? No way! That was not necessary!!! There was no spark! No connection! And the poor guy was always like an afterthought! Messed up something that could've been.....ok

This book wasn't terrible and if this author has any shorter books I'd probably try her again but I admit to some disappointment with this one

Omegaverse
2 of the guys were already having sex
No cheating or sharing outside the pack
The other female was in the group but wasn't sexually active with the h in any way

i usually hate books about music because i find them cringy but this one was actually so cool! i loved the forced proximity of the whole crew being on a tour bus, and the witty banter and cast of characters in this was so fun. For a book with over 500 pages it went by quickly and was light and fun.

Lyric and the heartbeats is an omegaverse book about a touring band with an omega lead singer. Lyric wants to prove that she’s more than her designation, but pretty quickly falls into bed with her band mates.

The issues I had with this book were purely technical. It’s written in third person which is fine, but we can be in any persons head at any time. The switch in perspective would happen from chapter to chapter, and occasionally even mid chapter. It was incredibly confusing and I was often unsure of whose head I was in.

There’s also essentially no plot, which would be fine if this were smut. However it’s a 540 page book. A book that long requires some sort of goal/plot line. All in all, this book is a skip and I probably won’t be picking up any others from this author.

I really like the sweet verse in general, but is anyone else getting really annoyed by the lack of diversity in the omegas? The alphas and betas have some diversity but the MFC (even Lola, who was a beta) are always young, white, fabulously beautiful, and stay perfectly thin while eating tons of junk food. It just gets boring after a while. While Lola and Baby were at least a little relatable (Baby as a fish out of water and Lola who felt like less because she wasn't an omega), Lyric is really really boring. To the point that the dynamic was more interesting without her in it. On top of that, her issues with her mom were TOTALLY inauthentic. The mom read like a caricature instead of a person and it completely undercut Lyric's character building as a result. That element with her mom also undid a lot of the world building done in Lola where beta women are still valuable and cherished (as opposed to alone and bitter because they didn't win the "omega" lotto) The way this is set up, Lyric comes across as a little ridiculous in her complaining. It's kind of a "you don't know how hard it is to be the prettiest!" vibe.

I wish an author in this world would take a chance on a woman who isn't thin, and blond, and in her 20's. JUST ONCE. be brave guys, you can do it.

This is a hard one for me. First of all it is so long and so slow. It feels like wading trough mud. It‘s my second OV. And I do not enjoy these. I can‘t read them in one go and have to take break, even if this is a rockstar book, which I normally like. Worst thing is, that I can‘t lay my fingers on what exactly I don‘t like about OV.

Lyric is a talented songwriter and singer, but she has issues: She wants to look after herself and not do the bidding of alpha, which she is supposed to do according to her dead mum. So she made her own career, and now has to go on tour. Therefore she has to cast a band. But she does not want her band to be her pack, which is the main issue in this book. But naturally she is interested in the three alphas, two of them musicians and the third one the tour manager and for the beta, another musician. Desi is the drummer girl of the band and in a relationship, so not interested.

This is about the push and pull between Lyric and the four guys around her.

While I am not finished reading the book yet, I post this review, or remind myself why I had trouble reading the book. Today I decided to dnf this book to reduce the pressure while I am in a book slump.

I feel like I was in a bad mood when I rated the others in this Sweet Omegaverse series. Now I’m gonna feel mean here as well, but I really didn’t want to read this one because the cover looked like a bad 80’s movie. The jazzercise leotard, the colors, those weird wings, all it was missing were the leg warmers. But hey, they managed to sneak in the Boy George hat so it’s all good!

I really enjoy the musical aspect of this story. It was pretty spot on in terms of how a band meshes together off and on stage. I didn’t mind that it was such a long story either, but it was missing something. Maybe all that growling or purring? Deeper emotional connections? I liked that I could actually tell the guys apart in this one. I had to laugh at one point wondering if she was gonna come on to their bus driver so she’d have a full set for her next tour!

This was a sweet, low drama, low angst story and I liked that. I did want more character depth, maybe some house hunting together? What was the big secret about Nohen? Not much of a secret if you ask me.

It’s not a secret that I love omegaverse, but I also love a rockstar/singer centric story almost just as much. There’s just something about life on the road, the forced proximity of bus traveling, the tensions that arise, the adrenaline from playing a stellar set and what can happen offstage. It’s all delectable.

I felt that this started off quite strong but slowed to a crawl somewhere in the middle and I had to force myself to finish it through the end. This was told in third person POV but the chapters weren’t labeled to tell you who you were following in that particular chapter so I spend the first page or two trying to figure out whose head I was in.

Unfortunately, the FMC’s reservations about pack life didn’t come off as convincing and I didn’t feel that the budding relationships between FMC and the MMCs were compelling. The chemistry was alright, but at some points the MMCs felt a little interchangeable. And I didn’t understand how Javier fit lol, bless the man and his skills in the kitchen, but he just showed up one day and Lyric claimed him and that was that.

I think this would’ve been excellent if shortened a bit. I still adore this universe and can’t wait to read the different types of OVs we’ll get to see next!

PS: there were nods/cameos we got about some characters from Baby and Lola!!

This book was everything. While it was a part of Kathryn Moon's sweetverse, it set itself apart BEAUITFULLY. Obviously, written by different writers, but does that mean it wasn't as good as Kathryn's? HELL NO!! This book is its OWN, and it SHINES.

Lyric was an FMC we can totally relate to. At least, I could! And her men. By golly HER MEN. Nohen, Javi, Henry... *drools* don't forget Emerson and Adra oh my goddddd.

This book was just seriously delicious. Lana is such an amazing writer!

This book draaaaaaaaaaaaaged. I started skimming a lot. It wasn’t a horrible story but it took forever and there was a lot of repeating. I loved Henry’s character. Javi I didn’t understand him being there. And I didn’t enjoy the book being written in third person point of view. Meh.

Whoo. I have some Thoughts on this one.

This is going to very much be an I Liked It, But Then These (# of things) Bothered Me/Didn't Work review. And there will be mild spoilers contained under tags. Because...come on, when do I not?

Starting with: once this story got moving, I liked it quite a bit. The last third was especially enjoyable.

But.

Y'all, this took a really long time to get moving. The almost 3 weeks this took me to read? Nearly all of that time was in the very draggy first 55% of the book—one or two chapters at a time, with lots of breaks because I wasn't enthused to jump back in.

To put it mildly, this suffered from pacing issues, spending far too long in areas where it wasn't necessary and then blasting through what was supposed to be a climatic scene in under 2 pages. Seriously?! There was a metric ass-ton of build up for what amounts to an under 5 minute confrontation that's resolved by

(And, tbh, there was too much backtracking in different POVs of the same scenes. It felt bogged down.)

The premise of this Sweetverse novel was fresh—it felt a part of Moon's universe even without the tie-ins and Easter Eggs towards the end—and I did very much enjoy that aspect of it. It was fun and super cute when it wasn't suffering from drag.

However.

Part of the fun of Moon's works in her Sweetverse is telling new OV stories that haven't been done before—Baby is a Beta who finds out she's a super late blooming Omega and never fantasized about being one so she has no clue what to do, and Lola follows a Beta who wants to be special like Omegas are, and her new installment will follow Eve, a female alpha who's solo and rather feral—but the thing that struck me in this one is that Lyric doesn't have a unique twist on an OV storyline: she's The Omega Who Hates It and Hates Alphas. If I were spinning it positively, I would call it a classic storyline, but I was a bit disappointed to find there wouldn't be any real twists to the lead in this one.

So she didn't reinvent the wheel with Lyric as a character—as an established OV trope, it was hard to get a feel for more of a personality from her, and Kole took too long to explain where Lyric's issues and hangups stemmed from, making us wait over 70% of the book before any background reveal. Which at that point, makes it feel out of left field. I had a lot of "wait, what?" moments as we then were hit with seemingly contradictory information about her relationship with her mother that could have used a lot of fleshing out on top of earlier mentions of it. An info dump wasn't necessary but more tidbits earlier on would have made this feel more cohesive and organic when a deeper reveal came about.

Kole did well with Moon's established formula of caring, consenty Alphas and a sweetheart Beta to pull the pack together.

Now. I did like what Kole did with and I enjoyed the positive female friendships in the book. I would have loved to have seen a bit more development there and how that inclusion was going to work; maybe there will be a future story about the pack——and some slice of life?

But overall, this is a nice installment to the series, and I will absolutely read Kole's next contribution to it, which looks more promising in the not-yet-told OV storylines department.

Real Rating: 3.5 stars

This was just okay. For some reason I thought this one was written by the same author who wrote LATM. I didn't realize that the omegaverse world was being expanded by several authors, which tbh sounds great!

Here we have Lyric, a rising popstar, who's forming a band to kick off her first official tour. She has no interest to find a pack or even fulfill her omega needs and even goes as far as to suffer through her heat all alone because her career comes first and also because her mom's influence made her detest being an omega. She ends up meeting several musicians to form her band and the people she selects, ends up making her realise that her understanding of omegas was barely one dimensional.

Now it's interesting because I love rockstar romances, but this one was just not it. One thing I couldn't comprehend was the author's need to add more members to the pack. Like here I was all ready to accept the two alphas and one beta who were introduced in the beginning and after the 30 percent mark, a new alpha strolls in. It was fine because I weirdly liked his cocky self, but then the author added another *unknown alpha* into the story after the *60 percent mark* and makes him a part of the pack. This guy barely has any scenes and you expect me to be okay with that?! Like sure, the author can do whatever she wants since it's her book, but you can't make me grow comfortable with a group of heroes and then add another new guy out of nowhere and expect me to also like him with barely any background info about this dude?!! 🤦🏾‍♀️

There was a small suspense aspect with the kidnapping of omegas and this could have been a great addition to the story of it was expanded, but unfortunately nothing happens. The story was mediocre. The characters were blehhh and the story was mehhh. Don't go into this expecting LATM or BATLNH vibes.

I was excited to read Lana Kole's take on Kathyrn Moon's Sweet Omegaverse, since I love love loved Lola and the Millionaires. Unfortunately, this book didn't quite live up to my expectations. It felt really shallow and flat. Shallow because we never really got an in-depth look at any character besides Lyric, which left me with not feeling any connection with the other characters. Flat because the "conflict" with Lyric and her omeganess was more or less resolved instantly with her insta-love for the guys, and the omega kidnappers really weren't developed well, didn't really add anything, and honestly seemed like an after thought--probably to try to add excitement to the book. Overall, it was just meh.

This book was certainly great for my cholesterol.

One thing I think about when I get a new book is how good it is for the gym. For me, the best books make the world around you disappear for just a while, and those are the absolute best ones to read at the gym.

And damn, I burned 3 hours of cardio and 2400 calories with Lyric & her heartbeats, but I swear it only felt like five minutes.

For real, Lyric & the Heartbeats did the number one thing I needed it to. It took the world Moon first wrote and the struggles of those in it to beat their biological fate, accept it, and learn to revel in it and did it wonderful justice in a way that still felt original and real to the characters Kole created for us.

If you're a fan of the Sweetverse, you've already seen the story of an omega through Baby's romance with the Howlers, but Lyric's story takes omegas in a whole different direction. She's just as likable and excitable as Baby, and she's got her own sort of fierceness for her music and for being more than just the spoiled omega her mother wanted her to be. Even though she shows the traits that have been built into the Sweetverse's canon, it's really in the most endearing ways like feeling truly spoiled because she has her desired flavor of gummy bears. I really didn't find anything that I disliked about her.

Lyric's men are just as delicious as Baby's and Lola's, and there's something for everyone. I'm honestly not sure that I have a favorite right now, but there's a lot to choose from. Em is a bit of a redemption story, the alpha who doesn't start off with the best first impression, but on the inside, he's sweet and gooey and ready to spoil Lyric if only she'll let him. Adra (Odd) is soulful and soft-spoken and just waiting for a place to belong, a pack to want him (I mean, I'll totally take him). Nohen's a little quirky, hipster-candy, and he's just a fun smart*ss beta who helps to tone down all the alpha energy. Alpha #3, Henry, is A-type, something I can totally relate to and appreciate) he's that take charge caregiver who also happens to have some ink that I totally want to see an inspo pic for. Last but not least, Javi. Ugh, a man who cooks, just take me now. He's family-oriented, and kind, and thoughtful, and everything that will just give you a cavity because it's sugar and you can't get enough.

I must say, I was genuinely satisfied with Lyric & the Heartbeats, and I think that fans of Baby and Lola will be too. Kole has also given us some side characters to love, and I seriously want to see a Desi & Amber novel where the ladies go out on the town and find a partner to create an "official" bond between them. Really, the only reason that I didn't rate this a five is that I need a little #JusticeForJavi. I love what Kole did with him, but I can't help but feel that he got a tiny bit less focus/room to really steal his moments of spotlight since he came into the novel later than the others. I want to see some of the moments between him & Lyric that the others got to have, but maybe that'll be a lovely tempting little carrot that Kole might dangle out to us in the future. One can only hope! Me. I'm one. You will be too. Now, get out there, grab the book, and leave the world behind for a few hours. In the grand scheme of things, I have zero major complaints, and I'm a fairly picky reader, so trust me, Kole's got something great here.

I'm not a fan of this book in the Sweet Omegaverse series. I felt like it wasn't as edgy as the previous books and that Lyric's feelings and emotions weren't well described. I also didn't like any of the guys' personalities, and Lyric chooses them even when she knows she doesn't want a pack, but they feel like a pack. I thought it was contradictory.

Lyricn& The Heartbeats was good!

Lyric & The Heartbeats, book 4 of Sweetverse by Lana Kole @lanakoleauthor. Lana is a new author for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book about Lyric, Adra, Nohen, Emerson, Henry & Javi! This had a slow start to the book & took me right to my cut-off point of 25% for me to get into it. Tropes: Contemporary Omegaverse, Reverse Harem, Why Choose/Poly/MM, Rockstars (Female Omega is the lead), & Found Family.

I'm halfway through, I'll update this review when I'm done, but it's moving sooooooooo slowly. Nothing much is happening and things are taking so long to develop. She has slept with Emerson and Adra but we're not really seeing the relationship deepen, no time alone or private conversations. She hasn't told anyone her story yet (like why she's so determined to be independent) and right now everyone in the harem has admitted to themselves that they want her, but are treading on eggshells. Suddenly one more guy just got added, and I'm feeling like why not just solidify the current relationships, why add one more guy now when nothing has happened with the others???

Nothing happening also means no emotions. She had sex with Emerson and Adra, and we know that she's sexually attracted to Henry and Nohen (and now the new guy, Javier). We don't know how she really feels about it. She doesn't seem very conflicted or worried about wanting them, considering how she used to stay away or fear alphas (Emerson, Adra, Javier, and Henry are alphas; Nohen is a beta). She doesn't seem to be having feelings for them, like wanting to be close, to know about them, to care for them. It's just chemistry and sexual attraction. I don't feel anything reading this book, and that's why it's so hard going.

I like that it's written in third person. However, the author doesn't seem to know how to use third person flexibly or well. Some chapters are from Lyric's POV, while others are from the POV of one of the men. The problem is that whenever a chapter switches to a different POV there's some overlap because the author just can't resist telling us how the situation was from the other person's POV. In actual fact, there's no need for overlap because the whole point of being in third person is that you can bring in multiple POV and give a bird's eye view, but of course it has to be done well. It's annoying that at the beginning of many chapters, I have to sort of 'rewind' and go back a little instead of just continuing the story where the previous chapter left off.

One thing: Why would a tour manager bring all his tattooing gear on tour?!? He expects to be tattooing the band members?!?! Makes zero sense!

UPDATE: I have finished the book by skipping some chapters in between, and the three-star rating stands.

The problem is that there isn't any conflict or tension in the book. The one time that something seems to happen, it's over almost before you know it. Everything is much too smooth: the harem all gets along, they all are attracted to Lyric, in fact some of them even encourage the others to make a move; Lyric is unsure but not reluctant and doesn't even try to fight it, despite her past and her determination not to be a "normal omega", and without much thought starts asking for bonding marks and claiming bites. It doesn't feel like her past was much of a hurdle to be overcome, neither was Adra's past much of a hurdle (his pack had found an omega who didn't choose him along with the others, so he got cast out of the pack -- so he ought to have been wary and afraid to trust Lyric for fear of being heartbroken again). There is no push and pull, no 'will they or won't they?'.

I can't help comparing this with Lola and the Millionaires, which was by a different author but in the same series or same omegaverse world. Lola even makes a cameo at the end of this book. In Lola's story, the tension came from her traumatising experience and the resulting fear of alphas. She has to learn how to trust. She ran from Leo, the beta, when she saw his bonding mark, and she struggled with feeling not good enough because she was a beta instead of an omega, as well as feeling that she might have invited her mistreatment because she had been so desperate for an alpha to notice and care for her.

What does Lyric struggle with? She struggles with wanting to be independent and not rely on anyone, but bonding with alphas wouldn't take that away from her, because she's already a successful singer-songwriter in her own right. So it's not really a fear that would get in the way of her bonding with her pack. Her decision to go it alone was more of a rebellion against her mother's control and indoctrination, not so much because of trauma, therefore it's much easier to overcome with some reasoning and pep talk.

Conflict could have come from overbearing or overprotective alphas, particularly Henry, or from an outside source, like the omega kidnapping and trafficking ring, but neither of these panned out. Javier, Nohen, and Adra were sweet from the start so had nothing to contribute when it came to stirring tension. I originally thought Emerson also would provide some sparks as he was a bit of a dick in the beginning and seemed judgy of Lyric, but he got over it real quick and explained why he had been so judgmental. So all the conflict fizzled out or was practically non-existent, making it for a rather boring novel.

Oh my GOD! More of the Sweet Omegaverse ASAP, please!!

I love the concept of the omegaverse, it’s so ridiculously hot, but I’m not even ashamed to say that most of it is way too dark for my liking. Kathryn Moon and Lana Kole have solved this issue completely. I looooved Lyric and her guys, this entire story was so sweet and perfect and ugh, ❤️

PLEASE ladies, and any other authors who want to join, keep up this ‘verse!

I did consider DNFing this one this time around. It was soft and mostly fluff. Confined space, with them on a bus together. One established fuck buddy mm relationship. One ff relationship that has nothing to do with Lyric but Desi is still pack. It got a bit repetitive with the sex and gaming, spiced up every now and then by a new pack member or plot twist. It was mostly Lyric overcoming her issues whilst everyone waited on the side line. There was an omega trafficking plot, that was handled with her watching out of window. I think I've been corrupted by the dark stuff. This go around it felt Barbie does omegaverse.

3.5 stars. This one first came to my attention on Kathryn Moon’s news letter. Immediately I was in because I love the sweet omegaverse. It’s just a shame there is so little of it, compared to the dark side.

I started reading this one as soon as it pinged onto my kindle. It was a long one but in the beginning I enjoyed it. I liked how Lyric puts her own band together and the process that went into it. I liked her and Andi’s friendship and how protective her friend/manager was.

I liked Lyric but I’ve read way too many books with mommy or daddy issues. There was also the fact betas were safe for her and she only needed to be wary of alphas. It felt a little stupid because betas can do dark stuff too but I guess it was because of the bonding.

Heavy on the M/M, with a sweet little F/F relationship. Not much going on outside sex, fighting inner demons and some dodgy alphas. Pretty Emerson heavy and then passing the baton.

I think I started losing interest with the addition of Henry. Straight away new manager. Henry grew on me but it felt like a build a pack, rather than working with what was already there. When Javi arrived , I was like why. But then again every pack needs a cook and an agony aunt.

It was sweet and I should’ve waited before jumping straight in. Another time the rating would be likely higher. Favourite part was the two interviews.

iiiii 2.5?

feel like this could have been could but i was just disappointed?

like it feels like there was no real plot? maybe the pacing was off?

idk usually i can forgive a romance's plot if the spiciness is good enough, but tbh that was also lacking for me :/

ALSO omg i thought we were finally going to get some wlw bc desi was there and then NOTHING! robbed

like what even happened? lackluster spice and no plot? what does the book even say!! i have no idea. i might just be in a book hangover bc the first 3 books in this universe are so good ㅠㅠ

Sweet

I enjoyed this new story from the sweetverse. Some things were glossed over that were unexpected, but the core story was good and solid.

3.5 ✨

- # 4 in the Sweetverse
- polyam omegaverse (no shifters)
- viral pop singer
- sweet and spicy
- forced proximity
- third person perspective

There’s something about the Sweetverse that just sucks you in. I didn’t want to be let go, but I do think that Lyric’s book is probably my least favorite that I’ve read thus far. Let’s get into what I needed more from because even though it sounds kinda extensive, I’m still so in love with this book. Critically, this book would get a solid three stars, but if I were to rate to gauge my entertainment, this was a 4 star book. I’m conflicted, so I’m giving it 3.5 ✨.

I love Lana so much and I had so much fun updating the discord as I read this. Her excitement about my excitement just added to the entire vibe. I also just really loved squealing with other Sweetverse lovers. I need @kj.the.nerd to read this series ASAP!!!!

Okay, onto my review! This book was incredible from the get-go. I hadn’t read a book in third person in a HOT MINUTE. It was refreshing, though sometimes it would get confusing as we swapped between the guys’ POVs.

I also loved how LK used a tour bus as a means of forced proximity 😈 They had no choice but to become friends and then LOVERS! *mischievous cackle* However, I really wish that there had been more conflict. The little that we had just didn’t have enough risk to it. Even if I know there’s an HEA, I want it to be threatened thoroughly if the option arises. The concept of an omega trafficking conflict was incredibly intriguing and kept my attention, but I really wish it had more risky business as we reached those moments.

I also didn’t think adding Javier so late in the story assisted in progressing the established romance or plot. I looove Javi, but I didn’t get to know him long enough to root for any sort of romantic connection. His backstory/connection to Lyric could have been fleshed out a bit more too.

Overall, I’m so infatuated with this world but I really wish the story had been fleshed out differently. It didn’t need to be longer, but I think a few things could have been tweaked to strengthen the plot and the romance.

6.43 on CAWPILE which is roughly 3.5 stars

I don't know why i always tend to finish books at night then fall asleep without reviewing them, knowing very well, i might forget what i have to say about em the next day but here we go!

I thought the first 60% of the book deserved a solid 4 stars, i was having so much fun and there was a lot of tension and a lot of butterflies in stomach moments that were adorabsss!! and i really liked the characters!! all of them but then there was a sudden introduction and inclusion of another character, now i liked the character, but after all that development and building of the dynamics between the mains, comes a new person and his development didn't match the others, nor his relationship development with Lyric matched the others and so it was kind of an unnecessary addition imo!!

I usually don't like superstar/rockstar romances, i just don't enjoy the setting very much, but this was set almost in a tour bus and thus it was not bad, it was not a million stars for me.

Some honourable mentions because i loved Desi so much, she was the drummer and Lyric's resident psychologist, my girlie is so wise, i also liked Nohen so much, cutie pie baby!!! Emerson turned from grumpy old alpha to purrr!! and Adra, oml, the blushing, keep blushing Adra it suits you and then we have overprotective "take your meds, stay hydrated" galore king Henry the first!! and despite me roasting him just moments ago, Javier was also nice and cute but i feel like his only job was to cook for them, and it is his job technically!

Title: Lyric and the Heartbeats
Author: Lana Kole
Genre: Omega Reverse Harem
Method: Ebook
Book Length: 548
Start Date: 4-24-24
Finish Date: 5-4-24
Quotes:

Opinion:
It was different than the last few in the universe I read. I loved both Baby and adored Lola. I was so unsure about this one because of the musician aspect but I liked the diversity in the harem. That we have POC and Bi rep among the boys. I was hoping to add Desi in but that they showed a part of the pack not being sexually involved was cute.

The kidnapping storyline felt very rushed. As well as it felt very safe. We focused so long on the tour it was just bam bam bam at the end and nothing wrong with that just felt almost unnecessary.

I did like that they staggered the love interests a little we see Adra and Emerson and Nohen but then we get the Henry surprise. Then I was REALLY surprised how far in we met Javi but didn’t mind it. I always feel that in some RH books we don’t get the needed time and build up with some of those involved and I felt that a little in this one.

The addition to a heat at the end was out of left field considering she just had her last one right before a 6 week tour.

Overall it was a fun read.
