I love the illustrations in the book. It is very unique. There are about four lines per page average. There is also some onomatopoeia. Text features allow for reading with expression with all capital words and exclamation marks.
The plot is a bit on the weak side because it just lacks depth. There isn't a central conflict but it is some what educational about shrimp but then it isn't really a educational book. It does present some factual information on sea life but it's only scratching the surface it could go deeper (pun intended). It is still enjoyable and this book will be traveling with my son on this first trip to the beach so I can read it to him.
