Some call it fate, others call it coincidence, her girls call it destiny. Anika Richards settles in after her fun in the sun on the Hawaiian islands. Thinking her past was buried, Anika never thought she’d stand before the man she left many years ago. Seeing him set off memories that should have never resurfaced. Jaxon Chambers was not the college student Anika ran away from, he was the businessman that penetrated her thoughts and changed her focus in life.
This is Book 1 in the Flirtatious Series that ends in a HEA. This is a standalone that is part of a series.
From romance to psychological thrillers, to a good family gathering, I love to read it and talk about it so I definitely love to write about it. My characters tell me what they want you to know. I am only the chosen vessel speaking on their behalf. I hope you enjoy what you read and follow me on my social media platforms to find out what character has spoken and what they have to say.

I’m at 15% and I’m starting to get a little concerned. The romance she has with her Jaguar has been explored in much greater depth than the relationship with the MMC… But Jaxon can cook and loves his mom. He sounds solid. Also, Anika was “not your typical girl”? Do we really need to go there?
UPDATE: I'm giving up at 23%. I was going in fully expecting to love this but I cannot bring myself to read any more. It's badly written and nothing happens on the page!! It's almost like the author decided to demonstrate what happens when you write under the sole premise of "Tell Don't Show". I'd be impressed if it weren't so infuriating. Two examples: Anika gets on a work call, the client is impressed and happy, our heroine saves the day. The reader does NOT find out what the problem is or how it gets resolved. Then Nik and Jax talk about their goals. Anika is impressed, because Jaxon dreams big. We're left out of the loop of what those dreams look like. Life is too short to read books that make me go WTF three times per page. As for the writing... I'll let Opus speak for me because I honestly cannot come up with the words.
I'm sorry to be so negative but I'm exhausted and I need some chocolate to recover from this experience.
Title: Anika Author: J. Shanee Byers Publisher: J. S. B. Series: Flirtatious Series Book 1 Reveiwed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review: "Anika" by J. Shanee Byers
My Opinion:
"Anika" was an enjoyable romantic read featuring Anika and Jaxon. I loved how this story showed how two people find their way back to each other after ten years. It was good seeing Anika finally getting what she always wanted, and that was knowing her father, more information about her mom, starting a marketing firm, and apologizing to Jaxon. What will happen when Anika does all of these things? I loved the characters, especially Anika's best friends and all of her family members. This is where I say you will have to pick up this good read to find out how this HEA comes out.
